Beware Green Air–Inept, Incompetent, and Not BBB Accredited! Green Air Care is not welcome into my home ever again, and I strongly encourage others to not use them and endure the tribulations that I experienced. My experience with Green Air (who recently purchased a few local HVAC companies) was extremely unsatisfactory, stressful, and unprofessional. I had a new AC unit installed on May 7th, 2024 and did not have a fully functioning unit until June 29th, 2024. During those 8 weeks, I made 24 calls to Green Air, experienced 12 service house calls, and took 8 days off of work to accommodate the technicians. Throughout my experience, I was blatantly lied to and ignored by the technicians, the staff, and the manager, leaving my house with no functioning AC during the summer. The root cause of my malfunctioning AC unit was a leak, caused by the negligence of Green Air staff during the initial installation. Green Air installed parts that did not align with my AC unit, and, in doing so, also melted a valve. This ultimately caused all of the unit’s refrigerant to leak out within the matter of 3-5 days. Throughout ten subsequent service calls made by Green Air, not one of the multiple technicians thought to check the valve. It was only during the final service call, which happened to be the first call where the service manager (Adam) finally decided to get involved, that the valve was inspected. When I asked the manager why this was not checked over the course of the 8 weeks, knowing full well there was a documented leak, he told me that he does not have an answer. One of the technicians, Slawomir, (who told me on four separate occasions that he had “fixed” the issue) scoffed at the idea that he should have tested the valve. In a previous conversation when I asked if I could get verification that the original unit was installed correctly, pressure tested, and followed procedure, I received a “No Comment” from Slawomir which I found extremely unprofessional, completely disrespectful, and very telling of the type of service I was getting. During this complete mismanagement by Green Air, I had an incident where I was promised on the phone by the staff, Jennifer, that a technician could perform the necessary work to fix the issue even when I inquired if they could perform the work while it was raining. I was ensured by Jennifer that she spoke directly to the technician and weather would not be an issue. The next day, the technician showed up to my home and told me he could not perform the necessary work due to the weather and told me that no one spoke to him and I will once again be without a working AC unit for an entire weekend, in hot and humid weather. This incident proved to me that Green Air was actively lying to me and providing false information. At this time, the service manager, Adam, was extremely reluctant to provide any help and assistance in solving my issues, and made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. He did not believe my problem was worth his time until after 8 weeks of his company wasting thousands of dollars in filling up refrigerant that was constantly leaking out. Adam constantly told me that I should be the one to call back regarding updates that they were supposedly looking into, as if it was my job to find solutions and manage them. He then promised me a restaurant gift card for my troubles….which I have yet to receive. It is evident that Green Air is not a well-run organization. I have personally witnessed the company scheduling their technicians all across the Chicagoland area, causing them have to drive 1-2 hours in between appointments, which led to technicians being late and unavailable to appointments. It is also notable that Green Air is not accredited by the BBB. They claim to be, according to a seal printed on a folder provided to me, and in a sticker placed on my AC unit; however, upon researching the BBB website, this accreditation is false. Based on the gross incompetence by Green Air, it is obvious that they do not care about their clients’ well-being or their own professional integrity.

BEWARE of Green Air Care! HORRIBLE!! If I could give negative stars I would! We paid over $7k to this HVAC company and we've had nothing but problems! I will only keep to the big issues here due to space for this review. We hired them to install a new HVAC system, including a humidifier with new water line from hot water tank. They did not install that properly and a day after they left, water was spraying from the line onto an electrical outlet! This water in our storage room caused the floor tiles to buckle! Green Air refused to admit it was their mistake. They came out and fixed the water line but nothing for the damage. Then we turned on the AC not even a year later and NO COLD AIR! They told us it was OUR FAULT because the unit was clogged and needed a new coil and quoted us $2800-$3500 to fix it! This was a new unit! Not even a year old! They refused to honor the 20-year warranty stating that we didn't have the yearly maintenance done. It was not even a year old! So here we are again trying to turn on the AC and no cold air again! I had another professional come take a look and he found that it is due to a MISTAKE at time of INSTALL! They didn't braze the copper refrig lines outside and Freon has all leaked out. I contacted Green Air again and they are refusing to take responsibility. They would rather have me contact the BBB and write scathing reviews than to take care of THEIR MISTAKE! They have ZERO interest in making their customers happy. PLEASE BEWARE and go with another HVAC company!
Description of Work: We need them to fix their mistake at time of install - they need to braze the copper refrig lines outside and replace the freon that has leaked out due to their mistake.

The furnace and a/c were installed about a year ago. After the work was done, the installation crew didn't inform me that the a/c was not charged with the coolant. So 6 months later, I turned on the a/c for a day and it didn't cool down the house. I called the company and realized that they didn't charge the a/c. Also they didn't adjust the pressure of the furnace properly and that likely caused the gas valve to fail within a year. And they put in a filter of 1x16x25 in the furnace chamber while it requires a 4x16x25. I can understand if they ran out of 4x16x25, but they should at least let the customer know that a different size of filter should be used in the future. Because we didn't use the proper size filters, it caused particle buildup on the blow wheel of the furnace. More information on this vendor regarding a water heater I installed 2 years ago, with a warranty of 10 years. The sales person told me it came with a warranty of 10 years. But after it died 2 months ago, they told me the warranty is only for 6 years. And with that, they also charged me $489 for installation of a new water heater. I had to pay $299 for emergency service and $489 for the installation fee and took a day off from the work for that. And guess what? After they installed the new water heater on December 20, 2022, it started to leak again in early January. You will go through a lot of PAIN if you purchase water heater from them!!!

4 years ago I used this company to install an AC unit and 2 furnaces. I had a great experience at the time but since then I feel the company and staff have changed and it bears telling people about because I can no longer give my money to a company who treats you with disrespect and is dismissive of your concerns. I wish I had room to tell the full story but the short of the long is that at my regular HVAC the technician discovered a leak at my AC unit and tried to sell me on a freon fix. I asked if it might be best to fix the leak before adding more freon since the unit would continue to leak. He told me it would be a complicated and lengthy process and that I'd need to schedule another appointment to figure out the source of the leak. the people I dealt with were rude, short with me, and when I expressed my frustrations they put the blame on ME. I tried on multiple occasions to schedule an appointment to have someone come out for a repair and was given the runaround each and every time. There are PLENTY of other choices out there, who are less expensive. I RARELY ever write reviews but I feel strongly about this one because kindness matters now more than ever. The response when I said I could no longer work with the company? "I have done my due diligence." Wow, thanks so much. As a follow up, I had someone come out to evaluate the issue and was told that I didn't need to have anything replaced - everything is working just fine. So yeah, I don't think Green Air Care is a very honest or caring company.

Don't go with GREEN AIR CARE as you will waste your hard earned money! When they came to conduct a job we ordered, they wanted to sell us $500 service instead of $189 we ordered by claiming that the service we bought is not good AT ALL. Question - why did they advertise the service that DOES NOT WORK AT ALL? Answer - to attract the consumers by misleading and cheep cost. Well, we stood with our initial order as we did the same service for several times in the past, and it worked very well for us. This time, to say it did not work, would be to say nothing. The dust in the house is tripled to compare to the condition before this horrible service. We belive the company used the old and not efficient equipment. No help or cooperation was offered from the company's manager Lisa in response to our request to fix the damage they caused to our health by the flying over the entire house dust. .... No words, just very bad feeling about Green Air Care. PLEASE share this information with your friends and family to prevent them from this scam!

Hello [Member Name Removed] and thank you for sharing your experience. While we strive to provide the exact pricing upfront, we can not get all the information or see the scope of work until we get to the house. If the package selected over the phone will not suffice to remedy the situation we do provide consultation on what will. The choice is always up to you to decide, but it's our job to recommend what needs to be done. Just like if you went for an oil change and they see that your oil reservoir is leaking, they would recommend to change it, otherwise oil will leak out. We hope this explains our position better and you do consider us next time.

I was underwhelmed by this Coons us service. The technician was polite, and explained things clearly, but wanted to up-sell on services I had already booked. I chose not to have vents cleaned for $79.95 because as he explained , “It won’t make much of difference unless you do the $600 procedure”. So we skipped that. He also slipped my dryer cleaning and when he got to the furnace check up, told me I needed a new furnace. I realized at this point that I hired the wrong company and ended up going with a Green T one week later for the vent Scleaning

We had an awful experience with Green Air Care. A day after they cleaned our home’s air ducts, we noticed that our ihome alarm clock on our bedroom nightstand was damaged and was not working. We looked behind the nightstand and saw that the power cord was missing and a deep scratch was on present on our floor that was caused by the alarm clock violently hitting the floor. We contacted customer service to report the damage done by the service technicians. We sent them photos (see attached). They said they would investigate by speaking with the field technicians. We received a call back 3 days later and were told that the field technicians have no recollection of the accident and they would continue to look into it. A week later, they called us and said that the technicians did not admit to the accident. [ We thought how could someone honest not remember picking up an alarm clock off the floor after seeing it smash into the ground?] Also, they believed it wasn’t worth filing a claim with their insurance because they guessed it would not be submitted due to the low dollar amount of damage. The floor was “depreciated” from normal wear and tear and the ihome alarm clock was an older model. Therefore, they wouldn’t be able to compensate us for the damaged alarm clock or the floor. However, as a courtesy they would send us a $100 restaurant.com gift card. We were very shocked at this resolution and overall. The first way we wanted it handled was simple, seeking an apologizing for breaking our property and damaging our home. Second, we expected them to offer to replace the alarm clock and some money returned for the damaged floor. We expressed this and were told to simply elevate it to the manager by writing a formal letter and [wait to see what happens]. This is not how a family owned business should operate or treat its customers. So here is our letter:

Extorting $450 or free service for something we did not do, we can not agree to. It all starts with me. I bought a house. One of the things I needed to do was get air conditioning for the house. I did my research. I brought out 4 companies to bid my work. I learned more than I needed to know about seer, and lines, and BTUs. I also learned that Lennox units were hard to get parts for, and that Carrier was a strong brand in which many companies could repair and get parts for. That was a big part of my decision to go with Green Air Care, (GAC). My salesperson Nick R., was understanding and initially willing to answer my questions. I had a few. So all in all, I spent more money, but thought I had made a good decision in choosing Nick R. & Green Air Care. It all goes south from the moment I gave my deposit. There were wrong charges to my credit card. And wrong amounts on my invoices. We did resolve these issues. These were minor in comparison to the following: I was cancelled and told that I would need to be rescheduled on the day of my install. This was a Friday, (I had taken off of work). The office person said that a client’s install took longer than expected and I would need to be moved from Friday to Monday. I asked for a discount due to now losing a vacation day. They offered $100.00. I took it. Better than nothing right? The weekend proceeded to be above 90 degrees…. The hottest one on record for years. Ok – I know, first world problems! But, it gets worse. So next thing to happen, it rains, buckets. Lots of rain. My “new-to-me” crawl space takes on water. So, when the installer comes, he refuses to go in the crawl space. No a/c until the crawl is water free. Another vacation day lost. Now I am trying to predict the weather to get the installer out. He comes, but I guess there is still a small amount of water in the corner of the crawl, and he, (Ruben / Sergio) will not finish the work. I receive a stern phone call from the office of GAC, telling me that they will not come back until the area is dry. Okay – another week praying for no rain and for no high heat days. Okay, the day finally comes! I am going to get a/c! So Ruben/ Sergio (the installer) comes out to the house. He is doing the install. I was told by my salesman Nick R., that it would take 1.5 hours to finish the job. It was 4+ hours. Another day off of work. I am working on things around my house while the install is taking place. I trust that Ruben/Sergio is doing a good job, even more so because of all the problems leading up to my final install. Upon competition he is ready to show me the work. HOLY CRIPES! He has drilled at the seam of my patio slab and the brick of my home. He has created a direct line for more water to enter my crawl space. He has ruined the patio. He has run the line 4-5 feet away from the a/c unit. It not only looks terrible, it is a terrible location and it’s poor workmanship. I call my salesman, Nick R. Suddenly he isn’t so easy to reach. Meanwhile, I have other (non-professionals admittedly,) look at the install. They too think this is terrible workmanship and very poor placement. When I reach Nick via text, he states that he will be travelling for the next four days and he will get back to me upon his return. Nope! I had to call and text and call to get him to speak with me. Upon reaching him, he requests pictures. I send them. The next time I hear from him via text, he says I need to speak to the office of GAC. Well, the office of GAC says…. Are you ready for this? “You’ll have to call a village inspector to come out.” I say, “Okay, I’ll do that.” I called the City of Mount Prospect. “You’ll need to get a permit. Green Air Care did not pull one.” When I get down to the building department for the City of Mount Prospect, guess what? Green Air Care is not registered with the city of Mount Prospect, they did not pull a permit, and I cannot get one so now the inspector cannot come out or help me. What do you want to bet that Green Air Care knew that I was “stuck”? (I would use other terms) BEWARE!!!! BEWARE!!!!BEWARE!!! There is nothing more for me to say. I have reached to out my credit card companies to see if they can help. The only hope I have now it that maybe some one of you will read this, and not give Green Air Care your business. Thanks for reading.

It costs me $20.00 per month. They only sign up for six months. I signed the agreement just this September and they attached a warranty to this maintenance contract. It's what I don't like because it's like they are forcing you to sign a contract, otherwise the warranty, which is 10 years warranty is void. Now I have to pay them $250.00 for ten years. It's not bad, but I don't like to be tied this way. So they are going to make me two visits for maintenance for $250.00 per year. A little bit expensive, may I say? I had no problem with another heating and air company I used.. So maybe I will cancel this policy after one year of use. I can do that. Responsiveness I cannot judge yet because nothing has happened. Actually each time I call them, they always answer in a timely manner.

I spoke to the company to make let them know we currently had one that stopped working and needed replaced; wanted to make sure there was no additional charge to remove old one ( there wasn't). when the installer came (he was late), he informed us that due to the size of our house we would need the larger model for another $245. He did inform before installing and we agreed but neither the fine print of the deal nor my contact with the company mentioned that there were two sizes nor did anyone inquire the size of our house. I did discuss this with representative of Angieslist as well as with the company manager: received apology and restaurant.com coupon and agreed that in future they should mention possibility of needing larger size. Still felt not the resolution I wanted.

Description of Work: We bought a new home and old occupants had large dogs. Smell was yucky. We replaced carpet and painted but smell lingered. Cleaning the vents helped A LOT! They used sterilizer spray and I think that also helped. BUT I suggest if you do the sterilizer have it done in early am or when you can open windows. The chemical smell was strong for quite a few hours.

The technician arrived at the agreed upon time and was very professional and polite. He explained the process and how long it would take and he was right on target. He was respectful of my property and left my house in good order upon completion. The only issue I had was with scheduling...Angie's List indicated availability within a couple of days but the actual first appointment was not for 4 weeks, that was disappointing, but I believe that is more an issue with Angie's List than the vendor.
Description of Work: $199 air duct cleaning deal for Angie's List members.
