Matt was very quick in responding to my initial inquiry and quickly set up a time to estimate the work. His prices were very fair and he explained the details behind each part of the job. He arrived right on time today and we couldn't be happier with the work. He even pointed out and corrected a bad wiring job that was unsafe and installed GFCI on an outlet that was outside the scope of the work we requested. All within the price originally quoted. We will be calling Matt anytime we need electrical work. I would refer him to anyone.

Matt arrived on time. He was very attentive to cleanliness. He wore booties and deployed drop cloths in the areas. The 5 4" pot lights were installed exactly where we requested and were perfectly lined up with the existing lighting. The dimmer problem was quickly diagnosed. Matt corrected a potentially hazardous wiring mistake made by a previous handyman. Our place was just as clean after Matt left as it was before he arrived! We highly recommend his services and will hire him for future electrical projects.

Matt scheduled the appointment and showed up on time. It only took him about 15 minutes to fix the closet light but I was charged for one hour of service. Though I was happy with the work, I wish he had some sort of discount for shorter service, which he did not.Looking back, $125 for one hour doesn't seem like such a great rate. He did offer to do more work for the rest of the time, which was nice, but we didn't have anything else for him to do.

Matt and his associate were on time, cleaned up after themselves and extremely professional. They were very polite and really great to work with. It went great. Matt was responsive. We booked a date quickly, and then he called me to see if I wanted to do it sooner. I did, as I have been living without any light over a dark staircase for several weeks. He did a fantastic job -- bent the track just as I wanted it, positioned the lights, etc. It was important that he attend to those details, since, as it is over a staircase, they will be very difficult to reach in the future. It took a little more than the two hours I originally purchased online, but I feel that he worked efficiently and that that was just the nature of the job. I have some smaller services I need handled (outlet/switch replacement, installation of globes over bare bulbs) and I intend to hire Matt to do that work soon.

Matt arrived exactly on time. He worked very efficiently. I had purchased a 2 hour promotional package. He finished in 1 hour 15 minutes. I had expected him to need the whole time and possibly more. I was very happy with his work. For the remainder of the time he did an electrical inspection , and found 2 issues that I will attend to next year.

This was my first major update to my first home, only shortly after I moved in. There had been only one owner prior to my purchase, and the electrical panel was still the original from 1961. My home inspector had strongly suggested it be updated immediately. Matt and his crew did a fantastic job with the service upgrade. He explained what needed to be changed up front, and then walked me through the new parts and installation after the job was complete. He was careful to finish a complete labeling of the circuit box directory, which will be very helpful for me as I install lights and such in the future myself. The work was completed neatly and on-time. My house was left just as clean as when they came in. Most importantly, communication with Matt was fast and easy-- something I didn't find with other electricians I had called about the job. He was always prompt replying to emails and communicating updates on the permit process. He continually updated his written estimate as we narrowed down precisely the work that would be performed. And his final price was spot-on the written estimate number. I will definitely be using Matt and Goldstream Electrical for future projects in my home.

This was my second project that I hired Goldstream Electrical to complete. Matt is great! I really appreciated his point of view on the symmetry and placement of the recessed lighting, and he looked at it as if it was his own space in his own home to make a recommendation. He was super efficient, cleaned up after the work was complete, and I am completely happy with my new lighting.

Matt installed a new outdoor security light with it's own switch and a new light fixture outside the back door also with a switch. There were no existing fixtures so both of these required cutting through the soffit and even the brick to run new wiring and conduit. He also replaced an old existing security light as well, changing the incorrect wiring to bring it up to code with conduit and a new switch. He installed a new fluorescent ceiling fixture in the garage, replacing the switch as well. All the other garage light switches and receptacles were also replaced. Matt replaced two outdoor receptacles with new GFCI's, including the in-use covers which are required by code. He re-wired an indoor outlet, removing it from the wall switch that controlled it. Matt has been to our house a number of times, helping us through the renovation of our house which we purchased in October of 2013, first with replacing the outdated and inadequate electrical panel, installing ceiling fans, new lighting, new circuits, all new switches and receptacles, running conduit in the basement for various things and other miscellaneous projects to numerous to remember. We will call Matt again when we are ready for more outdoor lighting after we fix up our patio area and also for more basement wiring at some point. From the beginning we have been impressed with Matt's knowledge and professionalism. We've appreciated his suggestions and opinions on various things that we were unsure about. He is friendly, patient, and fair in his pricing. Don't hesitate to call him.

If I ever need an electrician I will definitely call Matt with Goldstream Electrical Services out of Wheeling, Illinois. First of all, Matt communicated with me using email several times regarding the service before the actual appointment. He explained how the surge protection worked and also that there might be additional costs depending on the type of breaker box I had. Also, I had inadvertently requested two of the same service. Matt brought this to my attention and advised Angie's List for correction. I had misunderstood the purpose of surge protection. Matt advised (still using email)that if I decided not to use the surge protection, I could either apply the $149 to some other service or get a full refund. Matt arrived on time, was polite and courteous and went right to work. He spent a good thirty minutes explaining my electrical system, city codes, answering questions and giving estimates for future work. I could tell immediately that this was an honest man, who knew what he was talking about. I also might add that this man is what this country is all about. A man who emigrated from Europe, learned the English language to perfection, accomplished a trade and started his own successful business. I know who to call now, the next time I need an electrician. Once again, Matt was a professional. Traffic was bad so he let me know that he was going to be 20 minutes late. turned out he got to the house sooner than expected. Originally, I was just going to have him hang the fan, but he did it so quickly, that he had time to do a list of things that have been bothering me. He let me know how much time he had before his next apt so we could prioritize, but fortunately he was able to do all of them. Always neat-always clean.

I only gave a B for punctuality because our project was scheduled in the afternoon and a morning job ran late, which resulted in our work starting late. It was a Saturday (yes, he works on Saturdays, and even squeezed us in for this coming Saturday--review to come--in order to coordinate with our painters who are coming next week) and we were home all day, so it didn't really matter. First, Matt did the dining room lights, which involved removing an existing chandelier, plus the hook the previous owners had used to swag it over from the existing (and oddly placed) junction box, and patching the hole from the hook. Then he ran wire-molding in an L-shape in order to wire two identical glass pendants over our dining room table (our ceilings are concrete, so moving the junction box was out of the question--this solution turned out beautifully). His work was careful and precise, and he was very nice and knowledgable, asking for our input and answering our questions. After the lights were done ($250), he quickly replaced the patio sconce, which looks great. He even took a look at our bathroom fan and gave my husband some ideas about solutions for installing a quieter model. He's coming back this weekend to hardwire our TV in the living room (as I said, he squeezed us in so that the work would not interfere with painting that was already scheduled). We'll definitely consider Matt for any future electrical needs. He is willing to work flexibly schedule-wise, and is very responsive by email. We felt that his pricing was quite reasonable as well.
