By doing a winter roof job I saved 10% off the original quote of $7,250. The work was performed on the 2 warmest days in February. They were efficient and patient with my many questions. We did not replace the gutters, but quickly learned they needed to be modified with the new roof because it rained in between the 2 days. The existing suspension gutters were not catching the rain water. After a mis-communication, I met Michael and they went beyond the scope of the original work to fully address the issue. His crew made all the adjustments needed. This included replacing a downspout, which had ruptured along the back seam and adding more pieces to make the gutters more effective. There were no additional charges for this work even though more materials were used.

I shopped around a bit before I found Michael Moore/Moore Construction. I was very pleased with the response time, the bid (compared to the others), as well as the installation. The crew was polite, neat and clean. I highly recommend Moore Construction!

They were fast and fairly priced. It was comfortable working with them. Apart from roofing, they also did some patch work and painting in the interior of the house. The entire job costed me $1550. I liked their services a lot and will use the same in future.

We got back to them with an acceptance of their bid after a month. There was no attempt to up the price. They started and finished on the day we scheduled. All financial dealings were in the form of a bill they sent after the work was completed. Very professional. Highly recommended.

Michael from Moore Construction came over to estimate the job and discuss what my options were for routing the gutters to get better drainage away from the house. We liked what he proposed and decided to go with Moore Construction. They did a great job on the gutters, replacing facia boards, venting our stack and exhaust fan and sealing our chimney. Happy with the quality of the work, price and flexiblity (which is a first for me considering my experiences with numberous contractors). Would recommend to my friends.

a great experience from beginning to end. the work was done promptly and professionally, and compared with other estimates, was very reasonably priced. micheal's high angies rating is well deserved. 8/1/11 update: i had a minor problem with my gutter (caused by the painting i had done after the gutters were installed) and michael was very prompt and responsive in resolving the problem. another high mark for moore construction!

Overall, the experience wentve very well. The owner, Michael, and his crew came to our home and tore down the old gutters and replaced them. The house had two floors and they were very careful with tearing down the old gutters. Other companies usually make the customer pay in thirds throughout the process. After this company completed the work, I paid them in full, which I liked. They cleaned up very well after they finished. Another thing that I liked about them was their politeness and friendliness. The employees were courteous and paid strong attention to detail. They really listened to my suggestions and details. This is one of the best experiences I've ever had with a company; they are great people. I feel good about the work that they completed. I'm very satisfied. I highly recommend this company; I got some of their business cards so I can recommend them to others.

We got a recommendation from a gutter cleaning company to have our gutters repaired because water was getting in between the gutter and roof. We've been having trouble with water dripping out of the gutters, despite being cleaned too. Also last summer when Chicago got heavy rain storms, we had leaking around the chimney and water in the basement. We got multiple quotes and people with differing opinions about what to with the gutters. We decided that Moore Construction's middle-of-the-road approach to fixing the water problems was best. They installed flashing where needed behind our floating gutters, but did not reflash the whole system, sealed the joints, and repitched as needed. They also replaced the flashing around the chimney. It was their suggestion to pull the gutters up from the ground, as I mentioned we had water in the basement a couple of times this summer. The work went smoothly as planned, although we did decide to leave one downspout directly connected to the sewer because there was no good place for it to drain. The only reason that I rated responsiveness a B was because we had some initial difficulty connecting with the company. I had filled out their website form, but received no answer and later found out after calling that the website form wasn't working properly. Once we got in touch with the company, communications were good, but I would recommend working by phone and not through the website.

The project went great. Michael Moore came out to give me a quote early in August. It took a little while to have him come out; however, it was the busy season for roofers, and I felt comfortable as I was not experiencing any leaks in the existing roof. Michael arrived on time. I like the fact that his van had his company logo and information on it. This made me feel comfortable and that he has a reputable company. He came prepared to look at the property and gave me a quick estimate of what work needs to be done. I asked for two estimates, one with the most basic work that needed to be done and the second with his "restoration" type work. I received the written estimates within a few days. The estimates were very detailed. I ended up choosing the "restoration" method as Michael had explained it would create a seamless layer on top of the existing roof. Also, Michael explained the guarantee period for this would be 6 years and is renewable provided that I call him out for basic maintenance before the expiration of that 6 year period. Michael had a crew out by the end of the month to do the project which was estimated to last about 1 day. The crew arrived on time and, even though Michael was not there yet, knew what to do. They finished the work at the end of the day which had involved cleaning off the existing roof, putting down an undercoating, applying a mesh fabric, and then putting a top coat on. I was very pleased with the work and feel much better about going into winter time with maintained roof. The above work was done in August. As part of the estimate, I had to wait about 3 months for the applied product to fully cure before an aluminum top coat (reflects the sun's radiation) could be applied. The aluminum coating was recently applied, in addition, to some minor work that repaired a previously unknown leak on the little section of roof above the 1st floor. There was a leak coming in at the edge. For no extra charge, Michael's crew flashed over the edge before applying the aluminum top coat. So far so good. It rained a little this weekend, and even though it wasn't a hard rain, it looks like that leak was repaired. I'm very pleased with the quality of work I received from Michael's company. I really am impressed that he took the time to explain the process and was very detailed on the contract with the products used and what work was to be done.

Michael showed up to do the estimate for a roof repair, he spent 1/2 hour talking about putting a new roof and what else I needed to do in my house (lots of stuff I did not ask for). He was also very interested in knowing about my private & professional life (so much I started to wonder). Everything he saw, of course, could be fixed easily but needed to get done immediately (according to him). When I asked for an itemized estimate he told me that he would do the estimate as he saw fit, and I should have it within 36 hrs (his timeline, not mine). Obviously the estimate never came, even after I called the office and was promised that I would have it before the end of that day.

I was really pleased with the service and quality of work provided. Michael himself came out to estimate the job, and his foreman followed up with a site visit a few days before the job started to confirm final details. The crew did a professional job and cleaned up after themselves. Price was competitive.

The whole process from estimate to completion was great. The work started a week or so later than planned, but that's understandable. The job was almost completed on the first day. The crew cleaned up for almost a half an hour that day and let me know they would be back to finish the next day. As planned they were back the next day to finish. They did a nice job of cleaning up. The were no surprises on the final bill. I would recommene Moore to anyone looking for quality work and friendly service.

I called Moore Construction on 8/13 and left a message requesting someone contact me about an estimate for gutter replacement, and provided a brief description of my project. No one returned my call. On 9/7 I called and left another message, again requesting someone contact me about an estimate, and mentioned that I had found information about Moore Construction on Angies List. "Gina" returned my call the next day, on 9/8, and set up an appointment for someone to come to my house on 9/15 to do an estimate. Part of my project involves replacing some existing gutter with "Copper Plus" material, which I specifically mentioned when I left the messages. It's a composite of copper over steel that can be run through the same gutter forming machines as used for aluminum. Gina said she had not heard of this material and that she needed to check with someone to see if they could get it. On 9/9 Gina called me and told me Moore Construction does not work with "Copper Plus".

We had major interior leaks in approximately 2 years. Moore is fine with aluminum gutters and downspouts but they DO NO KNOW COPPER! Their contract stated that all joints would be soldered, but all were pop-riveted and caulked instead. In two years, when the caulk failed, the leakage began. No ice and water shield was used as a secondary barrier, so leaks went straight inside the building and damaged the historic interior.

We had Mike out to analyze the problems with our roof noted above. He was prompt, professional, and pleasant. He looked at our roofline and saw a lot of things that he thought were common mistakes among inexperienced builders. (Our house was built by a custom homebuilder) He recommended about $1000 of work and recommended that we put heating cables on our roof. (Which also required us to spend about $800 in additional electrical work) They came out and did the work and then we had the electricians do their work....and...had no icicles over our front door, but still had giant icicles at the corners of our house. I was kind of dissapointed since we had spent a lot of money on it and told Mike about it. He offered to send someone out, but I told him that we would see how things went over the rest of the winter... Well, I got busy and forgot to contact Mike until very recently, (early August 2010). I could see him thinking that this was beyond the "statute of limitations" for this problem, but he sent his foreman right out and up a ladder to look. The foreman did think he found our problem and made some repairs. Obviously, we won't know how things will be until winter, but the foreman made sure we felt comfortable calling him back after the first snowfalls...if these latest repairs didn't fix things. Anyway, I was a little dissapointed that they weren't a little more thorough with the initial inspection, but their followup and committment to getting the job right makes me happy that we went with them.

They were exceptionally prompt, responsive, professional and just generally helpful and nice to deal with. We would use them again in the future.

Had roof leak develop after a week straight of heavy rains. Called several places and was ignored by every except Michael Moore. He came out himself and did an assessment of what was needed to be fixed. He pointed out areas that had been done wrong in the past and made a list of the things needed to be repaired beyond the leak. I also asked him to do gutter guards which was no problem. He fit us into his tight schedule and the work was done quickly and professionally. No mess, no fuss and we ended up with a nice looking roof. No rain yet to test it out but I expect a tight seal and no leak.

Michael was responsive and great with follow up. After talking with me he had a proposal in writing almost immediately and was very accessible to answer questions from our condo association. He was also very respectful of our association's finances and allowed for a payment plan so that we could begin work before the heavy spring rains. His crew came out and completed work in one day--they answered questions I had about the roof coating and took time for me to go up and look at it. Michael's office staff is also great-professional,accessible and timely in follow up. Would highly recommend working with Moore Construction

It went absolutely fabulous. The work was done professionally, the crew showed up when expected, the communication from Michael Moore and Gina was great. The materials used were of a high quality. The price was much better than other estimates I'd gotten, with better materials. Delays because of bad weather were worked around ingeniously by doing one side of the house completely on one day, the porch another day, and the other side of the room the last day, along with the detail work. The cleanup was wonderful. They tarped around my house each day, and I haven't found a single nail or piece of shingle anywhere afterward. We'd had no-leaf gutters installed on the house a few years ago, and there was no damage to them at all as a result of the current work. There was no damage to any of my landscaping or the retainer wall in the front of the house. The crew started early each day, worked hard, and was extremely careful and considerate (including about not letting my dogs get loose). I would definitely use Moore Construction, Inc. again, and will recommend them (and Angie's List) to all of my friends, co-workers and neighbors. Everything went very smoothly and ended in a beautiful job, well done! UPDATE 5/31/11: It's been about a year since the work was done, and it's still wonderful! If I had another roof to be done, I'd definitely use this company!

Mike came out promptly do to an estimate and discussed suggestions for rerouting one of the gutters. He forwarded the estimate within days and we scheduled his start date within two weeks. While the work was being done he advised me of additional problems with a couple of the roof areas and even sent pictures. There were birds nests under the shingles. That explained all the bird noises I kept hearing outside the window, even in the winter time. He gave me an estimate for the additional repair work. Once I approved it he sent the crew back within the week to complete the additional work.

Michael came out and did the estimate when he said he would. He was matter-of-fact in his assessment (badly pitched gutters with poorly placed downspouts, which caused water problems in the basement), and no-pressure in his estimate, which was reasonable. He answered all of my questions, including the ones I didn't think to ask. The office staff was friendly when they called, and agreeable when it came to scheduling. The guys who came out to do the work were on time and cleaned up after themselves. They explained what would be done and then they did it quickly and well. Once the job was done, Michael called to get my feedback on the experience -- something I've never experienced before. It's rained several times since then, and we're still dry. I'll be calling Moore to do the rest of my gutters, as well as a few other things I'm saving for.

We called to have two of our downspouts replaced. Michael was very prompt in getting back to us, came out to give us a free estimate and gave us an excellent quote. He had his crew out to do the work on the appointed day and time. They were incredibly courteous, efficient and fast! Excellent clean-up as well. They removed our old downspouts, and I noticed one of the guys picking up paint chips off the cement by the work area. He gave us exactly what we wanted, and we couldn't be more thrilled!

They did a great job. They were on time. They did all of the work. The only problem was that their price was a little higher than everyone elses'. The owner was also very professional, in fact, I was going to have the facia replaced, and he told me I didn't need to.

Excellent! They were on time, had a good quote, and explained the process from start to finish. There were no surprises and we walked around the entire house to be sure that everything was done properly. The supervisor checked in first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. The owner also stopped by during the day to confirm that everything was proceeding as we agreed.
