Freeman Fence

In 2019, I worked with Freeman to replace an existing fence around my home. The fence itself is pretty nice and adequate for what I needed to do. However the gates and the latches have proven to be utter garbage. I have contacted the company countless times to have this issue addressed. One of their technicians told me that my gates were being damaged because my children and my wife did not understand how to work the latches properly. It is a gate latch,you should close it and it should close and be secure. I am literally the only person in my family who could close the gates because you had to lift them up because they were hung improperly. Fast forward to the beginning of May 2022…. I had already replaced most of the bolts on the latches because they were not installed properly, or they used bolts that were a quarter to a half inch long. The latching mechanism on one of the gates fell off at the beginning of the month, and I contacted the company about getting replacements. The lady I spoke with was very nice and very accommodating and seemed a palled at the quality of the workmanship. However I have not received a response since I contacted them and subsequently the side gate has become damaged in the wind multiple times to the point where there is one bolt holding on the bottom latch. If I could give this company zero stars for their product and customer service I probably would with all due respect to the customer service rep who seems appalled by this. The funny part of this whole story is, they installed a brand new fence for my neighbor and after assuring me that the latches they provided to my family were “the best on the market “they gave my neighbor the latches I had wanted. Will they ever come fix my fence??? If I could attach pictures of the latest damage I would gladly do so.

My fence gate wouldn't latch properly. I call Freeman Fence since that who installed the fence years ago. I talked with Roger and explained the problem. He said that he would send someone out to look at it during the week. The guy ( Marco)called the same day and stopped to at look at the problem. Then he told me two ways to fix the problem. I agreed with him on adjusting the gate so right then and there he got to work. It took him about an hour or so but problem fix. He was so courteous and kind and did a nice job. All I can say is what a great employee you have. Thanks again

To high off the ground. Dog could walk under the fence, was running away and could get hit by a car. when I asked him about what we could do... He refused to fix. When I said it wasn't fair or good business, he git irrate and told me he would rip up the check and throw it at me and tear down the fence. Never heard from him again. Not a nice man.

Roger is great. His guys did a great job. Very trustworthy. I would absolutely hire him again.

Didn't like being questioned about the height of the fence on the bottom. My dog could get under easily and ran into the street. I put the fence up to keep my little dog in. Owner got really mean with me. Maybe having a bad day.. Can't leave the dog in the yard.

Freeman put in a cedar fence 5 years ago and one of the posts is rotting and tilting. I have called or emailed them 4 times with no response overnthe past 2 months! One of my calls, i did get amlive perskn and she placed my request in the repairs bin and said someone would get back to me. No one did.

Things were great at first with Mr. Freeman trying to accommodate that the fence was installed wrong. Once he saw what his worker did he wanted to fix a vinyl fence with wood on the bottom. I rejected that idea and he became mean. Hung up and won't even answer my call. Once I didn't want wood he tried to blame the grade of the land...wrong! There was a fairly new 7yrs old fence which I replaced because I loved this high priced fence and wanted a change, that fence wasn't 6-8inches off the ground. My dog can now go underneath the fence and has run away several time. My neighbors called because he just missed getting run over by a car. I have a fenced yard and I'm walking my dog several time a day. Thanks Freeman Fence for not backing up your work and lying that you would fix the botched job.

Roger and his team were amazing! A huge wind storm decimated our cedar fence which was 20 years old. Roger had previously replaced a few of the old posts and those held during the storm, but complete panels were down. We worked with Roger to design a custom cedar fence with a prairie style top as well as a swinging driveway gate. The work was scheduled and had to be pushed back a couple of days due to rain. Roger kept us informed along the way. When the crew actually came, it took them two days and the results were gorgeous. They even stayed late to finish on the second day, using headlamps when darkness fell. They cleaned up after themselves. We had one issue which Roger cleared up personally. Our fence is lovely, and we've had many people comment on it. We would HIGHLY recommend Roger and his team to anyone wanting a quality fence!!

I'd recommend staying away from these guys, the sales people are rude, the office staff are ambivalent at best and the owner is non-responsive. Both the customer service and the team were at best non-responsive and at worst rude after the initial sale. At one point, my sales person threatened to have his team walk off the job. This started because I had asked for them to build an additional portion of the fence that we had quoted. Admittedly, we made this request late in the cycle. A simple response of "No we can't" would have sufficed. When I pressed them and asked why, I got a lecture that bordered on yelling at me telling how complicated the fencing business was. I then asked to speak to his boss to see if an exception could be made. That didn't go well. I spoke to a woman in an office that assured me that the owner would call. We followed up four times and no call back. When our sales person heard that I called the office, he threatened to pull his crew from our site. If our old fence hadn't already been torn down, then I would have told them to bolt. We have a dog and had waited 8 weeks for this fencing contractor to come, so it was incumbent on me to calm him down so we could have a portion of the fence. The fence itself is ok.

We had some issues that didn't resolved until June. First of all, they confirmed a date for me, and that's why I went with them. They were suppose to do it by a particular date, and didn't. Then, we had some issues calling them to get the date confirmed after giving them a deposit. After they put the driveway gate up, it has some issues with the drop post. All they keep doing is coming out and spraying more paint on it. The President, Roger Freeman, got a little rude with me, and I withheld $100 to straighten the issue out myself. I was going to withhold more than that, but I went and found a handyman who could repair it for less money. Overall, I would never use them again. I would never recommend them to anyone. I am getting ready to do a fence, and I will go with somebody else, which is who I should've went with in the first place. I still had it put in later than I wanted. I have a two year old grandson and a new puppy, and I needed to lock them in from going into the street, and I wanted it done earlier in the spring.

great. crew was punctual and fast. took care to make sure they cleaned up after the job.

Freeman Fence has responded to several emergencies I've had with my fence over the years. They know my greyhounds need a fenced yard, and when posts have rotted out or wind has blown fence sections out, they have been there, without fail, within about a day, sometimes less. Their workman are polite, do a great job, and clean up as necessary. Great company, great service.

Job very done well but had issues that needed to be corrected. Never received any responses to follow-up questions/requests which was a real disappointment. Excellent materials but expected a little more from a premium vendor with above average costs.

Fenced back yard with metal fencing along with gate for entry to park behind home. Gate came with lock and key. Fenced side of house working around neighbors fence. Company removed at no extra cost shrubs that I wanted to replant. Shrubs were carefully dug up and I was able to salvage them with no issue, saving me the cost of having to repurchase the shrubs next spring.

Was never able to motivate anyone to want to do the job.

This company installed my fence and has continued to maintain it for me over the years. They have come out on multiple occasions to replace rotted posts that broke off at ground level. On almost all occasions the service was provided on the same day that I called. The work was always completed quickly and professionally.

Supervisor was easy to work with and knowledgeable about business and products. Installers were very professional in manner and work site was left clean of debris. When I noticed the gate rubbing slightly at a later date the foreman personally made adjustments in a timely manner. I am very pleased with Freeman fence and their product.

Freeman Fence has always provided me with above and beyond service on my aging wood fence. Over the years they have replaced quite a few rotted posts and have provided me with quick service knowing I have 2 greyhounds that must have a fenced yard. While the price per post is a little painful, I know I can always count on them - that makes it worth the cost. Thanks, Freeman Fence! You ARE the best!

With the recent wind storms we've had (11/10/15 -11/20/), I had several posts snap. Since I get home late, I don't know if its due to rot, not properly cemented in the ground or just wind damage. I called Freeman Fence on 11/16/15, 11/19/15, and emailed on 11/19/15 and they never got a hold of me. This is disrespectful. The lack of calling me back shows the customers needs don't matter to them. If the job was too small for them, they could have called back and said they will not fix the fence since it's a small job. Very disappointed and I will never use them again. I will also never recommend them.

Freeman showed up 15 minutes early for the estimate. The estimate took about 15 minutes. He was very professional, polite and funny. I have not had the work performed yet but as I'm having a few more estimates performed. Right now he's at the top of my list. So far he is the not cheapest or the highest estimate I received. I'm more concerned about quality over price.

The initial installation service was satisfactory, yet the follow-up to the quality of the product only a year later (through normal and reasonable use) has been highly unsatisfactory to a point that we do not recommend using Freeman for your needs and strongly urge you to contract another vendor. One of the posts that connects the gate of the fence to the home required 4 repairs within a year since installation because the vinyl material for the post cannot sustain the force of impact from the gate. The most recent damage to the post came only one month after a Freeman worker replaced it. Although the post was replaced within a week each time, the same damage occurred after each replacement. I told this to freeman representatives repeatedly. The fault in Freeman's approach is that the vinyl post supporting the gate door latch vibrates when the gate closes on impact and consequently, the force pulls the connecting frame out of the post against our home. The material then cracks. Time and effort were wasted each time the repair was made because the error kept being repeated with each "fix," materials were essentially wasted, our time away from work was wasted in order to supervise, and the worker who completed these fixes must have been frustrated because he kept doing the same repair. When I requested that someone from Freeman meet us in person to discuss another solution before making another repair to the damaged post (yet again), the owner disregarded our explicit instructions to set an appointment with us, he sent someone to our home without notice and the worker made unauthorized adjustments to the fence when we were not on the premises. It was shocking and infuriating that someone would find this an appropriate way to conduct business. Consequently, I consider Freeman's actions a serious violation of privacy and property, and at best, outrageously unprofessional. This could happen to you because the owner did not apologize to us for acting in this way and simply defended his actions in his emails. We have since instructed Freeman's owner that they do not have authorization to step foot on our property or make fixes ever again. We don't even know when they were at our home, which is frightening because it forces speculation as to how and when it was done. and by whom. In hindsight: either vinyl should not be used, the material supplier is awful, or Freeman just doesn't know how to design and reinforce fences properly. In all, it's not worth it to use them. They approved the design we created together, they did not advise against it, and they guaranteed stability at the point of sale. A replacement fence and/or post with different material was never addressed by Freeman. Needless to say, the person who sold us the fence is no longer with the company. Since the same repair has been made 4 times to no avail, we will be forced to approach another company or contractor to reinforce it correctly should it be damaged again. Sadly, we're expecting Freeman's most recent adjustment to break again because the same repair was made as the previous times with the same resulting damage. It would be easy to dismiss our statements as "just another disappointed customer who is impossible to satisfy," but I say this to prevent you from experiencing things as we have. Who wants a company showing up whenever they feel like it without your knowledge and do work without your authorization? All of my claims are supported by confirmed emails and photos. 2 of the 4 damages are included in the attached photos as an example.

They did a very nice job on this. We have had no problem with the fence since it was installed in 2011. I thought they were really good and, thinking back on it, I thought their price was reasonable compared to some other quotes I received.

I contacted the company and was told someone would contact me within 48 hours to schedule an appointment. No one called so I tried again a week later. This time a rep called promptly and schedule a time to come out. The guy came and was very friendly and said he would send me a quote within 2 days. Well that was 3 weeks ago. When the rep was at my house he stated that the company was very busy and they had removed all their advertising from the different websites like Google, etc. He asked how I found the company and when I told him I found it through Angie's list he said that it was hard to remove the advertising from Angies List and they didn't need new clients. Why come out and waste my time if you never intended on sending a quote because the company is too busy?? They wasted my time and I recommend you don't waste yours with Freeman Fence.

Wonderfully. We had them install our fence about four years ago. They were more expensive than others, but we remain convinced that they provide a better product in every way. The fence itself is better looking than others thanks to the knot-free cedar they use, and it seems to have weathered better than other new fences in the neighborhood. What really sets them apart, however, is their service. They were very responsive before and during the install. And in the years that followed, they've been quick to fix any issues, including a portion of the fence that was recently damaged by a car. Our service contact, Ross Papke, deserves mention and commendation.

After I received the quote I contacted my salesperson (Ross) to discuss the option of replacing the wooden posts with metal posts. As a side note, every time I contacted my sales rep (Ross) he always responded via text. I even told him I would rather speak on the phone when it comes to matters of business. I asked if he would call me and my request was ignored and he continued texting. I have been in sales for close to twenty years and never initiated a sales conversation via text, I thought that was very unprofessional and when my request to communicate verbally was ignored his lack of professionalism crossed the line to rudeness. All of our communication was through text as I was given no choice in the matter. Ross was very dissuasive when I asked for a quote with the different posts. He replied they would be a lot more and I asked if he would send me the new estimate. He agreed reluctantly ( I don't think he wanted to go through the trouble of looking up prices and giving me a new quote). When he did respond with a quote it was not written up professionally and emailed to me but instead it was texted to me only showing the price difference. I asked him (through text which was the only way he would communicate with me), why I was being charged for both the wooden posts and the metal posts? I should be receiving some type of credit for the wooden posts but he refused to address my question. I texted him again very nicely to try and make sense of the quote, a simple phone call could have ended any potential question or miscommunication, but that was apparently to much to ask. My text went without reply. The next day I called Roger Freeman (the owner of the company) to discuss the communication breakdown I had with his sales rep. Roger seemed empathetic and understanding and said he would talk to his employee and call me tomorrow. Tomorrow came and went and no phone call. I called Roger the day after he was supposed to call me and left a message with a woman in his office. I never received a call from Roger or anyone else from their company. Freeman fence may or may not do good work, I will never know. The one thing I am very sure of is that they have at least one salesperson (Ross) who is completely unprofessional and non responsive, and an owner whose word means nothing and his potential customers mean even less. If this is how they treat people who are trying to do business with them, how will they treat you when they already have your money and you are waiting for them to call you back with an issue you may have. There are a lot of fence companies out there (I have already dealt with more than a few), and I can tell you from experience to stay away from this company, they will turn a simple process into a completely aggravating experience, and when the owner of the company tells you he will call you back and never does, whose word in that company can you actually trust. Lack of professionalism, lack of integrity, don't even waste your time with this company, because it will be just that, "a waste of time". Roger Freeman, I must say I feel your response to my review is as weak as your integrity. You quoted me saying, "We are not doing the job right", that phrase would never come out of my mouth. I am intelligent and articulate and would never respond to someone with that response without giving specific details. Anyone reading my reviews would clearly see. Next you said that I insisted on buying some of my own materials. That comment is completely ridiculous. How would I or anyone ever think that they have the ability to insist on something like that when another company is doing the work? There was a question I had, simply a question, which I never did get an answer to. I never tried to negotiate the price, I only asked for an updated price due to a couple changes that were made from the original quote. I would have no problem receiving a quick text response to a question I had however, the response was not quick nor was it complete in answering the questions that I had. This is why a phone call could have corrected any questions or miscommunication that had taken place. I asked several times for the situation to be dealt with verbally, but my request was never granted. I was forced to express myself through text during this ridiculous process. Finally, you claimed to have called me twice and you said my phone went straight to voicemail. If this in deed did happen, (I doubt that it did) why on earth would you have not left me a message? Nothing in your response to my review is remotely accurate, but I understand the desperate measures a company may result to when they have numerous grades of Fs and their customer service is continually being called out for their lack of professionalism. Good luck with your company. You are better off trying to improve customer service rather than try and defend customer reviews with untruths and inaccuracies. No respect intended because none was earned.
