MJ/Johnson Appraisals

Don' t ever use this appraiser. He doesn't understand the market. I wouldnt give this appraiser to my worst enemy. If you hire this person, you will regret it. He s only there to steal your money. Look for a more reputable company that doesn t work out of their home. I m embarrassed for hiring such an incompetent professional .

My review is more of the appraisal process than Mike. I was having the house appraised for an independent assessment and to prevent any surprises when selling. Mike was prompt and courteous; delivering the report when promised. When I questioned the process and the report he answered my questions without hesitation. The report he provided, however, was the same analysis a good real estate agent would have provided for free. Although Mike measured and photographed everything, the appraisal was based on comparable sales within the last six months. His ratings of the other properties were based on their real estate listings; nothing more. One of the comparison homes was on and off the market for over two years before selling. Another was on the market over a year before selling. He failed to understand those facts or take them into consideration in his appraisal. A realtor we talked with was surprised by that. He was not familiar with our community, who buys in here, and why. I feel this was a waste of money and would never pay for an appraisal in the future. I expected a lot more and got far less.
