DeVega Concrete LLC

The actual work was done very well. The owner was knowledgable about codes in Oak Park and was able to raise our sidewalk slightly by our door to avoid having to put in a step. Everyone was very courteous and the work was completed quickly once it got started. It did take awhile to get on their schedule as they misplaced some of my paperwork and I had to call a few times to keep things moving. This fall I received a postcard asking if I wanted salt guard. I called to get on their schedule and they were a no show twice and once called to let me know they weren't going to make it. I never received the salt guard. I am happy with the work they did but getting on their schedule and getting the work done proved challenging.

The project started and ended on time. It involved heavy equipment used for demolition, excavation and removal debris. Our plan called for framing and installing a mat foundation, new concrete foundation walls and the concrete stairwell. All visible portions of the stairwell and foundation used Butterfield Concrete Color as well as Butterfield Form Inserts so that the finished product looked like stone rather than concrete. A concrete stamping process was used on the new landing. The owner of DeVega Concrete is Fidel Vega. He has a very solid understanding of the concrete business and suggested several alternatives with regard to concrete stamping, coloring and use of form inserts to achieve the desired end result. I was surprised with his high level of responsiveness throughout the project. It was very clear that he wanted to be sure he had another satisfied customer. BOTTOM LINE: I could not have been more pleased with the end result of this project. It went smoothly with no surprises, last minute price increases or delays. Fidel Vega is good for his work. He has integrity in an industry where that is not always the case. I would quickly recommend DeVega Concrete, LLC to family and friends in need of concrete construction work.

I had already rated DeVega highly for their concrete work, now am compelled to do the same for snow removal. They are very reliable. The snow is cleared from drive, sidewalks and front porch, usually before anyone else nearby. They will also use concrete safe ice melt when needed. I provide that.

Easy to work with and very competitive prices. But actually getting the work done took all summer despite my May deposit. My impression was that this small, highly rated company took on more work than they could handle and got backed up. When they did the job, they were super, but the job itself kept being postponed -- I had calls about scheduling from 3 different people, and was never sure who would be setting the job: an office assistant, Roberto, or Fidel the owner? Fidel, his brother, and Roberto all worked on the job itself, and I enjoyed working with all three. I just wish they had done the job when first expected.

They kept delaying us. The technician came out. He was very personable and told us what he is going to do. We made the down payments. He gave us an appointment of 2 weeks and the kept saying I am the next one. The person I talked to kept saying he is not the owner. Then he said he does not want to do the work. The price was fair.

They are wonderful! I can't remember how much we paid, but the work went really, really well. The company is easy to work with, and they did a great job. Since the winter was so harsh there were a couple of glitches, so they came back out to help with that. I can't tell you how nice it was that they did. It wasn't major work, just some minor things. We have a couple of other projects in mind, and will definitely use them again.

This company proved to be excellent in all phases of the project, from estimating to the finish clean up. I would use them for any and all future work and recommend them highly to anyone. The estimator was prompt and courteous, and all questions were answered, if Roberto didn't know the answer to a question I asked he would find out....not guess or lie. He also made us feel as if they wanted our job and not as if they were doing us a favor, ( I found that with other concrete contractors) When things got busy some contractors would brag on how much work they had and might fit us in. Roberto was a good start.....Fidel ( the boss) is a hard working man who was on the job everyday and worked as hard as all his employees, even in the clean-up. I am happy I chose this company, the entire experience was perfect and the job speaks for itself.....great. I recommend them highly and suggest using them to all.

When they came out they were prompt with getting the work done. They had to get an approval of where the concrete was going to be poured and after that the work was completed quickly. They did a good job and finished the job in one day.

Overall the job went well. The guys that I came in contact with were very polite and professional. The only issue was in the initial lack of upfront project preparation instructions that I was given. However, after that information was communicated to me and I knew how to prepare for the project and what to expect everything went well and I was kept informed on a daily basis. I was very pleased with the work and the price was within my budget. I would recommend them and use them again.

We had quite a big project, with removal of existing concrete, pouring a new front walkway, rebuilding the front and back steps, installation of a stamped concrete patio, and a backyard walkway. In addition, our project had many details that we added to all of this. The De Vega team demonstrated impressive performance from start to finish. During our first meeting, Fidel made a few suggestions that were very helpful in finalizing our plan. He sounded very professional and was the recommended contractor from Butterfield for stamped concrete work that we were considering as an option. This made our choice. He was very busy with other works and the weather was very bad. However, if he said so, this work will be done. This is because he has good organizational skills and works in the field himself. His team worked very hard and the quality was excellent. They cleaned the area before leaving, which was also very nice. We definitely would recommend them to our friends. Fidel is an outstanding team leader!

Fidel and Roberto are very responsive and all about Customer Service. Our initial appointment was missed by DeVega, but after sending an email and calling that same day, Renee was at our house about 30 minutes later. The process was long, but it's their busy season. We were initially told it would take 4 weeks, but it was closer to 8 weeks. Overall we are happy and would use DeVega again.

Fidel and his crew are wonderful. They are responsive and do quality work. They want you to be happy.

It was fine. They were reliable. The quality of the work was fine.

Overall my experience with Vega was very good. The response time is slow, so if you need someone to get back to you immediately you may have to call a few times. I was not in a particular hurry, so once I got the estimate I was happy to wait until he could fit my small job in. I had a crumbling first step on my concrete stoop, and assumed I would need to replace it. I was impressed that I was told this was not necessary until I did the larger driveway job (which I already knew needed to be done). Instead I was told that an inexpensive repair would buy me another 5 years or so, and I'm happy to say that after almost a year it is still holding great! The process of the repair (and why it would work) was explained to me, and the work was done quickly and professionally on a Saturday that was convenient for me. While I was not initially impressed with the first response time, overall I was extremely happy with this company and would recommend them for good, honest work at a fair price.

I would have given better scores for this contractor because the majority of the work was really good however the limestone threshold chipped within 24 hours of install. They came out to look at it and said they would fix it, but after 2 months and additional inquiries about it (which were ignored) i just fixed it myself.

Excellent customer service. Problem is it took them 3 weeks to come out for an estimate. The company rescheduled once. Service can't be completed til mid July

The man that came out to provide me an estimate was very agreeable. If I decide to follow through with the work I will definitely call them. All of my contacts with Fidel Devega have been excellent. I would have no question about doing business with him in the future.

Everything was done well and once the rain stopped, promptly. They could have done better calling to let me know where I was on the schedule -- I had to call two weeks after they cashed the deposit to find out what was going on. I also had to remind them about the Angie's List coupon for $100 so when you get your invoice be careful. I laughed because the invoice gave their name and street address but didn't tell me they were in Broadview so I had to go back to Angie's List to find the town. In general, I get the impression the office management could be better. However, whenever I talked to Fidel on the phone he was pleasant, informative, straight with me, and I felt like I was in good hands. Leaving that aside I was very happy with the work. DeVega and the workmen were excellent, cleaned up after themselves, didn't trample any of my plants and the work itself looks really good. As far as price goes, the lower bidders didn't give off the professional vibes I got from DeVega. My attitude is do it right and I'll pay a little more for it. I would recommend them and use them again if needed.

We are still in touch with Fidel for drain tile, but our driveway project is on hold thanks to the village restrictions. We are definitely working with DeVega for our next concrete project!

It was a simple job, but it was done well, ontime, with no hassels

I've been extremely happy working with De Vega on both this and past projects and will continue to work with the company on things I need in the future. The quoting and billing is detailed and easy to follow. The bottom line price isn't the lowest that you can find but you will definitely get what you pay for in professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.

They were responsive and I had no issues with them. I have used them more than once and I will continue using them when the need arises.

Great work. DeVega took out the bad concrete from our garage floor and the apron to the alley. It was sinking and starting to fall apart, so we needed new concrete. After getting a few estimates we went with DeVega based on the price, the information I got about them, the Angie's List reviews, and the review from our next door neighbor. We made a good choice, and I am really happy with the results. The crew was busy, so we had a delay in the start of the project, but I was updated all the way. My dates were flexible, and so was DeVage concrete. I plan to use them again when I put in a patio next spring.

They demolished our front stoop and removed the existing steps that were made of pavers. Then they worked with us to create a custom stamped concrete stoop and curved steps from our door down to the driveway. The work is first class! We get compliments on our steps regularly. People actually stop/slow down when going by our house to admire the steps. While the quote was not the least expensive, it was also not the most expensive. Fidel really knows his stuff. He was the only contractor who seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy, and not outrageously expensive. Would definitely recommend!!

The job was delayed due to weather and my own conflicting schedule for a roof installation but DeVega workers completed the job as promised in time before the bad weather sets in. The job was performed to exceed my expectations and the sloping of the sidewalk sections keep water away from the house and steps, as promised. The workers were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and cleaned up after them selves daily. Fidel DeVega, the Owner, is very professional, honest, and knowledgeable, and provided the services as quoted and promised. I initially had concern due to a clause in the Proposal/Contract requiring the Contractee to pay DeVega's Attorneys fees if payment was not made due to the Contractee's view of the work done being unsatisfactory. I met with Fidel and discussed this concern and he explained the reason this clause is on his Proposal/Contract is due to his experiences with some customer's that don't pay due to issues such as cement dust being on their windows, and other issues not relating to the actual cement job. I understood the reason for the clause was to protect DeVega from customer's that look for issues as a reason not to submit payment. We came to an understanding that the Village inspector would be the third party person that could resolve any issues relating to the cement work. I agreed and understood Fidel's concern as a businessman being in business myself. Needless to say, the work was done to perfection and there were no disputes to resolve and I submitted payment as required according to the Proposal/Contract. I would highly recommend Fidel DeVega with DeVega Concrete and plan on using them in the future to replace my cement driveway.
