Went well, timely. Cleaned the area well. The also removed the flaking lead paint from the pipes and coated the pipes in heat resistant paint. The company arranged for permits and for airquality testing afterward.

Bluestone was very professional and prompt. We found a small amount of unknown insulation material when demoing a garage man door. Worried it might be asbestos, we called bluestone to come test it/provide a quote for removal. Ron came out and after inspecting it told me he would test it if we wanted him to but that he was 99% sure it was just fiberglass insulation based on a visual inspection and the age of the garage. He gave us tips on removing it ourselves. We will definitely call bluestone again if we discover anything else.

Fantastic !! Kareem and his team did a perfect job. They were very professional and warm and did everything as listed on their contract. We were so impressed !! We love our 1947 home(purchased 5 years ago) and and felt it was treated with care and "healed". Will share their card with others. Originally, the day the estimator from Bluestone arrived, 1/2 hour before he was scheduled to arrive, someone from A&B Environmental arrived and said he was sorry he was a bit early. I never called A&B and have no idea why he was there.

I was completely impressed with the professionalism and expertise of this company, and the ease of doing business with them. After a preliminary estimate to abate ONLY the perimeter (so that a water barrier system could be installed) Conrad provided a second estimate to abate the entire basement. I'd contacted two other companies for estimates; however, Bluestone's pricing was exceptionally competitive. They showed up on time (7 a.m.) and began work, their crew worked diligently and cleaned up after themselves. There were no hiccups, no last-minute craziness, or surprises. The work was completed in one day and I used their recommended air quality testing company to certify that the environment was free of asbestos particles (or within minimum guideline amounts).
Description of Work: After my basement flooded in July, I learned that underneath the carpeting there was asbestos tile (home constructed in 1955). Because I was concerned these tiles would crack over time, as the result of being saturated, not to mention the need to make sure there was no asbestos when I decide to sell my house, I needed to have them removed.

Excellent! Office staff were very well informed, helpful and professional, as was the remediation crew. Jenny (office) was especially helpful with all my many questions and Will (crew) were especially helpful with the "hands on" aspect of this project, The remediation crew was here on time every day and did an exceptional job! After the project was complete... they did a great job of cleaning up and it looked like they were never even here. I would hire them again and would recommend them to others as well.

Excellent! Both Tania Williams who I scheduled with and Spencer Savoie who tested were exceptional. Follow through in getting the work done in a timely manner, insight on the process and length of time to get results and estimated outcome were all appreciated and accurate. Tania even sent me a "paid" invoice after I gave my check to the tester without my asking. I ended up contacting Spencer again when I ran into a new concern with a different contractor and he provided excellent advice and swiftly addressed my questions as my need was of an urgent nature. I can't speak more highly of my experience with Bluestone and would absolutely recommend them again and again!

Given the amount of work involved, I think Bluestone did an excellent job for a fair price. Their team was punctual and courteous. Jenny the office manager was a true delight to work with and was always quick to answer any questions I had. The only constructive feedback I provided was to ensure the workers turn off the lights, fans before they go as some were left on after the project was completed. The air certification test came back and the asbestos is gone. I would recommend their services to anyone looking to remove asbestos from their residence.

Overall it went very well. Conrad came to the house and measured the area. He provided an estimate the following day. I booked a date and time with Tanya, who were able to go to work pretty much immediately. William Harrison came to the house and had his crew to complete the job. He explained in the beginning what they will do and assured me they will do the work with least amount of damage. Which I am happy to say they did. It took only a day and a half to complete. This was really really quick for the amount of space they had to cover. I was really happy with their service. With the 10% discount I got from Angie's list they did all that work and disposed the asbestos for just under $6000. (I had several quotes from other companies higher than this) I didn't give an A for quality because there were just a couple nicks on the wall, but I have to say it was super minor. Also not an A for responsiveness as I was going to get a new proposal sent to me by email when I produced the discount but never received that email. Again though, that is really minor. I have to say I was really happy with their service. Dealing with asbestos can be a scary thing, especially when you are spending a lot of money too. This company I found to be very professional and explained what to expect and not to worry, they will make sure the job gets done properly. I also got a company in to get the air tested afterwards (cost $425). It passed the test and am now asbestos free. I highly recommend bluestone to anyone. You will without doubt be very pleased with their service.

Can't say enough good things about this Environmental Abatement company. Got four bids with widely varying prices and level of professionalism. This company offered a very professional contract at a fair price - not the highest or lowest. Phone and online contact was always top notch. This was a big job because the building is 45 ft tall and had a top layer of aluminum siding that had to be removed in order to get to the asbestos siding that had been installed around 1935. The job was big, dirty, difficult due to weather and size of building. They did a perfect job, removing all debris, nails, cleanup every day for five days. A special shout out to the project manager, Jimmy. He was a good communicator, supervisor, hands on participant every step of the way. Do not hesitate to hire this organization if you need siding removal.

Out of three companies contacted, Bluestone was the only one to provide a professional project quotation after a prompt site visit to determine the scope of work and during which the process was completely explained. One of the others just emailed an "estimate" and another provided an "estimate subject to change" after a site visit during which nothing was explained. Neither was a detailed quotation. While Bluestone's quote was $500 more than the lowest other estimate, I decided to hire them because of their professionalism and because they utilize a no VOC, biodegradable, non-terpene solution for mastic removal. All of the Bluestone people I have spoken with have been pleasant, responsive and knowledgeable. They quickly revised the quote when I had small changes. I live in suburban Cook County, the only place in Illinois with asbestos removal regulations for single family homes in the entire state of Illinois, requiring a $200 County permit (included in the bid). There was some confusion about whether or not add-on $450 air testing is required, but after my research and several discussions with the Cook County Environmental department and Bluestone, they agreed that it is not legally required and I elected not to do this step: my tile was not friable, as I had the tile and mastic tested by a California lab for $50. (Local companies charge $350 or more for testing.) I would have had the air testing if the removal involved friable insulation or drywall. On the scheduled date, two men arrived at 7 AM as scheduled and proceeded. They tented the entire area, used a negative pressure air machine to prevent dissemination of any asbestos particles, and were done 6.5 hours later. They followed all of the asbestos removal best practices that I found while researching this topic. They preserved all wiring and quarter round, removed all tack strip nails from the concrete, and cleaned up the entire work area. They took all disposal materials away, including the carpet and padding. There is no chemical odor whatsoever and no staining of my white baseboard. The concrete is somewhat stained in places, which I expected since the tile was laid in the 1970's. I highly recommend this company and their people.

It went well. The process was very smooth and professional. They had a problem removing the asbestos containing tile from the staircase, so they had to remove the entire staircase. Because we did not agree to a total staircase removal, I refused to pay for it. To their credit, they replaced the staircase free of charge. And it was not an easy staircase to replace. You really can't ask for anything more than that.

Bluestone was very punctual and professional in getting the quote to me, arriving on time to perform the work, scheduling follow up testing after the work was "complete". Unfortunately, this was the asbestos removal job gone wrong. The problem was in the removing of the mastic (black glue like substance) from my basement floor. They used a mastic removing chemical which made it impossible to enter my basement without a respirator, which prevented a through inspection of their work. With only a cursory inspection, I saw that they has not fully removed the asbestos containing mastic and called to discuss. Bluestone said that they didn't know if the mastic contained asbestos and refused to test it. So I got it tested and it did contain asbestos, so they agreed to come back and remove it. However, on the second attempt they still didn't remove it. On the third attempt they finally got it. I was left to pay for the two extra asbestos clearance tests and the asbestos testing to even get the to come back. At which point I paid for the services. Later I bought a respirator, which allowed a more though inspection and discovered that they had not removed all of the asbestos surrounding the pipes. I will eventually hire another contractor to remove it. At this point it doesn't really matter, because the chemicals that they used to remove the mastic continue, nearly a year later to off gas, rendering my basement unusable. My neighbors are all concerned due to the constant fans blowing out of my basement for over a year, even during the dead of winter. My recommendations: If you plan on removing mastic with the company expect to be out of the space for at least a year. Buy a respirator prior to getting any of the work done so that you can inspect their work prior to payment.

The crew from Bluestone were fantastic to deal with. From Tonia, in the office to Spencer the estimator, to the removal team, led by Kareem and his guys, everyone was top notch to work with. Where I grew up, if you had a job to do on your house, you either did it yourself or you had "a guy". Accordingly I am a huge skeptic when it comes to hiring anyone to work on my house. I found Bluestone on Angie's list, and after reading their positive reviews, I decided to "take a chance" on them. Happily, there was no chance to be had, Bluestone immediately put my mind at ease from the moment I called. Tonia set up the appointment and within a couple of days, Spencer the estimator came out to scope my project. He took some measurements and walked me through the process, and within a couple of days he sent me a quote. I got back to them and told them that I accepted and would call in a few weeks to schedule the job. When the start date was set, I received a reminder a couple of days prior. On the day the job was to start, Kareem was 10 minutes early. He walked me through the project and asked me if I had any questions or concerns prior to starting. Once they got going, Kareem and his crew completed phase one right on time. (Asbestos removal/disposal.) They were to come back the next day for phase two: Cut out the radiator pipes altogether. Again, the crew was 10 minutes early. And again, they completed the job right on time. The crew from Bluestone was punctual, clean and communicated better than any other contractor that I have dealt with. I would gladly recommend them to my friends and family--and I have already.

Fantastic. Workers where waiting for me when I got to work at 7AM. William our project leader was respectful, kind and thorough. We actually gave them a key to get into our building (a church) and the workers came as early as 5 or 6 and worked until Noon or so. Once the set up the work area and cordoned off the entrance, we hardly saw the guys. We heard so work noises every now and then, but they worked very proficiently and quietly. They finished early and when I got a walk through, I was amazed at how much they had done and how clean the place was. We stored some furniture in a bathroom, that ended up having some pipes that needed asbestos removed from them, and they had a guy move some of our stuff out and wrap the area for removal. No extra charge for having to move our stuff to get to pipes. They also took great care of our old ceiling and only cut tiles when necessary to reach asbestos insulation. They arrange and air quality tester and met the inspector for the walk through and then provided us with the completed report. We received four bids for this project. By far, Bluestones bid was the most thorough of the bids, listing in detail all the work they planned to do. We also had a narrow window to get the work done and they were able to fit us into their schedule and completed the job early. Can't say enough! Great job. We have asbestos tile throughout our old building, and plan on calling Bluestone for the work.

My experience with Bluestone has been excellent in every way. I contacted the company for an inspection and estimate of asbestos wrapped pipes. Ron came out, on time, and wrote up a proposal. I then contacted the company and requested an inspection of my attic for asbestos insulation. Ron come out a second time to inspect my attic. This was all done free. Another company I contacted for an inspection wanted to charge me $100. He said he was giving me a discount as most inspectors charge $300. Again, Bluestone did it for free. Turned out I didn't have any asbestos in the attic -- a huge relief. The work of removing the asbestos from pipes was done by Conrad. Excellent. Punctual. Professional. Bluestone handled the scheduling for the follow up air test with an outside provider. I could have done this myself - but I researched this and they utilized a highly reputable company (that I had actually used 10 years ago on another house). Everything was scheduled to happen right on time. Work began at 7:00am sharp and all was done in a few hours. Asbestos removed. Air test passed. Highly recommend for peace of mind.

Very well. Everyone from the salesman to the men doing the work were very friendly and respectful. The day of service the crew showed up on time. Eric explained everything they would be doing. He even had his crew remove some paneling that we needed to do for further work in the basement. They secured the area for hazardous dust, bagged and removed all the waste and cleaned the floor multiple times to clear the adhesive. When the job was completed, Eric showed us what was done and asked if we had questions. We did not because he answered everything. Would highly recommend this company.
