Alan and Shane replaced all of our mid-80s single pane windows with OKNA 500 series windows. Alan came out to provide the initial estimate and Alan and his son Shane did the installation - no subcontractors just Alan and his son!! In addition they added a large picture window in our living room which completely changed/improved the space. On top of being extremely patient and professional (tolerated all my questions), the craftsmanship of the window install exceeded all of our expectations!! The attention to detail and focus on executing our vision was fantastic. They upgraded our inside casings to a ‘farmhouse’ style which turned out absolutely fantastic. They are true craftsmen!! You're reading this review because, just like me, you want to secure the best bang for your buck with your home improvement need. In my case, it entailed replacing all of our windows (23) with OKNA 800dx throughout. Allen Meister, owner, and his son Shane just wrapped up the project and honestly exceeded all expectations...BOOM!! Back story: Our journey for the best price/value window offering went into high gear after getting ridiculously high quotes on Pella, Andersen and Marvin windows. It was actually a Marvin dealer that turned our attention to high end vinyl windows through the Sunrise Restorations line they also sold. Impressed with the superior efficiency and warranties of vinyl windows vs. wood windows, we explored the "high end" vinyl market further. This lead to finding the OKNA line and the associated high praise by industry pro's and consumers for their product line. Through OKNA we found Meister Windows and so glad we did. We got an exceptional product in OKNA and outstanding craftsmanship by Meister Windows. They've earned every referral I hope to impart on them. So if you're looking for a high pressured sales pitch, overpriced and heavily marketed national brand windows or sub contractor installers who are driven by speed installation metrics these guys are not for you.

Alan and his son were a pleasure to work with. Alan is an honest, hard working man. The quote was very fair and the install great. I had an issue with the lock, but I didn't have to worry. Alan ordered a new one and installed it. He takes ownership of the job and the work that he and his son perform. It's very hard to find people with such a work ethic. I wish I had more windows to have him install. FYI - He also installed many Okna windows at my sister's house and she feels the same.

Found Meisters Windows and Siding through internet search and Angie’s List. Called the office and received more details about windows and window manufactures than through other suppliers site visit. I submitted a rough size summary of all windows to be replaced and received a very detailed proposal with “ball park” pricing. Details as to all specs, window type and configuration. Followed up with an on-site review and measurement with final proposal generated. Just completed installation. Allen and Shane did a fantastic job. Windows look great; interior trim is beautiful, Have other family members interested in getting proposals and contracting with Meister!!

Meister Windows & Siding was one of the companies we had quoted that used the high quality windows we wanted. The owner was very professional and was not pushy like other companies' sales reps. He answered any questions we had and let us know that we can always contact him if we had any question throughout the process. Installation was well done and wasn't rushed like I've seen with other companies. He also gave us advise about some minor issues he was seeing with our siding.

I did a ton of research on the best windows and best installation companies. I met with 9 total window companies. In the end, I narrowed the window manufacturers down to Okna and Soft-lite. Meister happened to sell/install both. Allen and his son came out to show me both windows. They were very straightforward on pros and cons and they didn't try to pull any sales tricks like some of the other companies I met with did. Their pricing was also very fair. In the end, I ended up going with the Soft-lite windows. Three months later Meister came out to install the windows (8 total). I also had them install ~90' of 6" gutters w/ guards and soffit. Over the course of three days, they worked very hard to get everything done. They were friendly and courteous. Just overall nice guys doing great work. The window screen frames from the factory were a bit sub-par. Allen noticed this while installing and ordered me replacement frames which just got installed today. Soft-lite got involved too and sent a very nice guy out to help. Everything looks great and I couldn't be happier going with Meister. They really care about their clients and do great work. They even added some very nice decorative capping around the windows. We plan on re-doing our family room in a few years and there is no doubt I'll be having Meister do the windows. Thank you!

We have replaced all windows and siding. Mr. Meister and his son did an excellent job! Always on-time, professional and pleasure to work with. They paid attention to small details and cleaned the area after they finished.

Allen was very knowledgeable, professional, a meticulous craftsman and very polite. He answered the smallest question to the biggest ones. My home is an older home so there were a lot of "what if" factors that concerned me and he took care of it all. He and Shawn were incredible from start to finish. I can see why he comes highly recommended. I had them also work on some additional trim and matching stain to my older wood that could have been a nightmare but he was able to match the wood color with an incredible eye. I can not say enough about the attention to detail and even the clean up upon completion. I had been looking for someone who knew what he was doing to do this job and I definitely found him. He gets two thumbs up and I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone I know. Thanks guys for an incredible job. The house looks like it got a facelift and so many have commented on how wonderful the new windows look.

They did an outstanding job and we received superior service (they showed up on time, went right to work, took care of everything, and cleaned up at the end of each day). Allen, the owner, has deep knowledge with a variety of windows and helped us to choose the appropriate windows for our house. He also offered a really good price for their high quality windows. At the end, we decided to install Okna 800 triple pane for all the bedrooms, Okna 400 double pane for the basement and garage, and Okna 800 double pane for all the rest. Due to non-standard size of our patio door, we went with the Soft-lite's Kingsroyal with internal mini-blinds. It took Allen and his son, Shane, four days to finish all the installation. The result is just beautiful. Inside, we can definitely feel more comfortable and there is no more condensations. Outside, I really love the contour they brought to the aluminum wrap and this extra detail looks so sharp and matches our colonial style house so well. I strongly recommend Meister Windows & Siding. Great products and excellent workmanship!

Alan Meister was very punctual with his estimate and installation. We hardly noticed him in our house and he cleaned up debris both inside and out. We felt the price was fair for the quality of windows. We love our new patio door! We would recommend him to anyone who is considering replacement windows.

They went above and beyond the clean up. Al was on time with his son and they did excellent work. Clean and neat. They have done work for me before, they out five windows in.

Work was performed as promised. Very Happy with Quality of Okna Windows and Quality and Professionalism of this Company. Would definitely hire again.

Meister removed the existing windows so they could be sent to a specialty window manufacturer. These windows are on the second floor thereby requiring him to build a scaffold to handle them because of their size and weight. Because the new glass was being installed in the old sashes our openings needed to be boarded up for about a month while they were being worked on. Meister made and installed the boards to cover the openings and was very careful to ensure the openings were tightly weather sealed. When the new windows were delivered Meister returned promptly, built another scaffold and installed the new windows. While he was doing this he also replaced a rotted cedar fascia board that was adjacent to these windows. All of the work was excellently done and he was very flexible in working with the window maker's schedule in order to ensure our old windows were removed on time and reinstalled as soon as the new windows were ready so we did not have to live with boarded up windows any longer than necessary. His pricing was extremely reasonable and he is very easy to work with.

Meister always does an excellent job. I recommend him to other people whenever I can. The windows he installed in my home are energy efficient and superior windows. The windows and front door have really upgraded the look of my home. I've used Meister multiple times and have always been happy with his work. If you're looking for a windows and siding company, I highly recommend Meister Windows & Siding.

Allen and his son Shane did a great job replacing our old sliders. The wood under the old doors was rotted and so they had to replace all of that first. They put in very nice new moulding around the inside of the doors and reframed the outside beautifully. Their pricing was fair and reasonable for a quality product in the Soft-lite doors, and for the extra work they put in. We feel Allen and his son went over and above in customer service and satisfaction. We preferred contracting with a small family-owned company and Meister is truly one of the best!

Great product. Installation was fast. An added bonus is that Allen is a nice guy ! Will definitely use them again.

I contacted Meister Windows and Siding for work on windows, siding and gutters for our ranch home. The old siding was cheap plywood that had moisture and surface damage in multiple locations and in overall pretty rough shape. The owner showed up for the initial walk through and estimate and he was very friendly and helpful in talking through the available options for siding and windows where I didn't feel pressured at all on being upsold or sold something I didn't need. The estimate given was for all materials and installation and the project ended up sticking to that quote. The start date of the actual project was quite a few weeks out, but with a small crew it is very understandable, and was worth the wait, Installation was quick and efficient by a two man crew including the owner (who was on site for the bulk of the work). The workmanship was excellent and I could see quite a few cases where extra time was taken to make sure things were done correctly instead of the easy way. I was also very happy with the quality of materials used, especially the Okna replacement windows. The bay casement and picture window had beautiful oak trim that was finished locally and looks fantastic. The owner was communicative, answered all my questions, and kept me informed of status and progress.

Alan Meister and his son Shane were an absolute pleasure to work with. Replacing all 29 windows in our home was a very costly endeavor and we felt we had to "get it right." We made the right decision to contract with Alan Meister. Alan and his son were respectful, trustworthy, hardworking and very skilled. The installation proceeded on schedule despite the fact that it was winter. The windows look beautiful and we are very, very happy with the result. The amount quoted was the amount paid, even though Alan and his son actually did some additional work for us. He disposed of all the old windows and screens and left the work area clean. I am comfortable giving MEISTER WINDOWS AND SIDING the highest recommendation.

I picked out all colors and window styles. I waited patiently for callback that never happened. After numerous calls and e-mails with no response I gave up.

I had received quotes from just about every window company in the Chicagoland area :-) Meister won me over with his knowledge and the fact that he was the owner and also would be the installer. (no subs!!!) Allan and his son came to my house right on time and were there for hours! Very clean, very meticulous. Meister was GREAT! Very punctual, very professional...went the extra mile to ensure all windows and doors looked GREAT! I would definitely recommend them above all others in the area for installation of windows and doors.

From start to finish Meister Windows exceeded our expectations. First, an informative but short explanation of replacement windows and their installation. Then a no-pressure estimate to do the job with several variations available. A fair price was quoted and stuck to. Alan Meister set the tentative installation date for the middle of June and the job was started June 12 and completed June 13. Zero mess inside and out. Zero inconvenience to us. We have had 2 major rain storms since install with no problems. After lots of research we took 4 estimates seriously and settled on Meister as the best choice. We were not disappointed. I would say to anyone looking to have windows replaced in northeastern Illinois to call Meister Windows for an estimate. If their high quality product meets your needs and budget do not hesitate to hire them for your project over any other company. You will get the the best bang for your buck with them. That is really what we are all looking for, right?
