I explained to Gary and Ken what I wanted. I shared with them what a couple other companies wanted to sell me. They told me what made the most sense for my home and my needs. They didn't try to up-sell me anything unnecessary. They answered all my questions. The price they quoted was very reasonable for what I received. They weren't able to get the furnace the day we initially had picked for install, but another day was chosen and the work was completed. I believe Gary and Ken to be very honest. I look forward to working with them in the future.
Description of Work: Installed a new furnace, AC, water heater, thermostat, and air filter. They moved the AC unit to a different location.

Gary and Ken were prompt and professional. They quickly diagnosed the problem with our furnaces, and got them working again. They offered frank advice about the furnaces and what the future may hold for them. They were not pushy and didn't try to sell extras or add-ons. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Fixed the blower relays in our furnaces.

Initial visit to determine problem of no AC. After testing my A/C and furnace, they showed me where the old furnace and A/C compressor had problems so there was no doubt about the need to replace them. Installed new High Efficiency furnace. All work was professionally done, and work area was left clean, and they removed the old components. Took about 6 hours to complete. I would recommend to anyone looking for an excellent job at a fair price.

I think I already described above the entire transaction. The work was done in a timely manner, the price was alright, about the same as the other estimates I received, but they were very friendly, and were right near my house. I thought it would be best to have someone in the neighborhood do the work. Additionally, I thought if there was a problem, they would come right up the block to repair it. The problem was trying to get 1) a detailed receipt of work performed, with a breakdown of labor/materials, which every company provides. I could not get any documentation on my and quot;American Standard 80+ 100,000 BTU Furnace OR my Caseo TXV Coil and 3 Ton 13 Series Gold Series Condensor on a new pad! What??? Just give me the documentation for my files!!! Jeepers! So my conclusion is that I have mixed feelings. They did a good job, but will not provide any paperwork on the units. I guess you have to draw your own conclusions.
Description of Work: Here's the thing! This is a father/son (or nephew) operation. The younger person came and gave me a detailed estimate. He opened the furnace and a/c units and showed us how the water had rusted out the shelves of the inside furnace and that it was worn through. We could see all of the damage he was describing. The units were both original to the house, twenty five years old or more. We decided to replace both the furnace and the a/c unit. The service was performed in one day with a minimum of mess and imposition. I was pleased and the new furnace worked well, but at the time, I was more concerned with the airconditioning, which was great! HOWEVER: A month or so later, I realized that I did not have any warranty information to add to my household folder. This is where I have all of the documentation on the house and the appliances, etc. Many items, from the microwave to the furnace, garage door opener, fridge, etc, had warranty information and documentation. Naperbrook could NOT PROVIDE ANY information. I told him that I had information on all of my appliances and other items in the house. "Gary" told me that since he already had the furnace and a/c units at his house, he did not have any paper on the furnace or a/c. He suggested I go "online" to get them. I did that, and there was all kind of information, so I wasn't sure what to do. I wrote everything down so I could take the individual pieces and look them up in the future. Unfortunately, you can't really find out too much online; it's crazy! I can't find anything on American Standard after 2011! So what does this mean? I don't know. Three days ago I received a note from Energy Star or affiliate that I could claim a portion of certain home improvements and get a tax break. My accountant said this is important because they were real dollars, NOT deductions. So I contacted all of my home improvement vendors and got receipts for labor and materials on all the jobs I had done last year. When I got to Naperbrook, however, owner Gary said he couldn't give me a receipt unless I could tell him the dates of service because his "accountant" had all his papers!! I provided the dates (via my email search) yesterday, and today be brought over a hand-written receipt. I told him that I needed a breakdown of labor and materials. Gary responded that "these people always ask for things they can't get!" When I asked who "they" are, he said, "You know, like Nicor does; they ask for things you can't get." I said it really isn't that hard to give me a breakdown of materials and labor! I said it had nothing to do with any other outfit or request. He then actually backed away and said he would have to "figure that all out!" and then he just walked away, got in his car and drove away! Not another word about providing the information. What to do? I'm confused. . . should I be worried? He seems like such a nice man. So I don't know what is going on with this company! The receipt he handed us has written on it "Five year parts and labor warranty", so if anything goes wrong, I can call them and have them repair it. The furnace itself has a large metal plate that reads, "Naperbrook HVAC" on it with their phone number. But what if you wanted your documentation on your furnace? You are out of luck. You can go online and print one but whether it actually goes to your unit is a GUESS. So, my conclusion? I just don't know! The work was fine, they were very polite. . . and the price was decent. Why they are so mysterious is hard to know.

Response from Naperbrook Heating And Air Conditioning
I provided the customer a copy of the paid in full sales receipt at the completion of the job, They called me and said they lost the receipt and needed a copy, I asked them if they remember when it was installed so my accountant could go into that months files and retrieve the receipt, I promtly got them a copy of the original sales receipt, as requested, and the warrant information is clearly on their (five years parts and labor) what more do you need? It is a binding contract, ( the indusrty standard, manufacturer covers parts the installer covers labor, eccept for recall items) They then inform me that thier accountant wants a parts and labor breakdown, When a job is sold as a flate rate price, NO company gives a break down receipt, their would be over 0ne hundred items that would have to be parted & cost out.

They came out quickly and did not charge me for the call. The experience was good; they were very accommodating and came right when they said they would. They are very nice people. In the past they put in a new air conditioner.
Description of Work: My furnace was not working right so I had Naperbrook Heating And Air Conditioning come out to check it. It turns out I was using the wrong kind of filter in my high efficiency furnace.

To get straight to the point... I was very happy with my investment. Although I was a bit nervous with it being a small family owned business, Gary and his family were great. I'm glad I didn't spend the extra cash on commisions for a sales rep. Saved a few thousand compared to several other quotes eventhough it was the same exact equipment, brand new American Standard A/C unit and furnace. Install for both furnace and A/C unit where completed within the estimated amount of time. Had a minor issue months later, and although I on the edge of their typical service area, Gary drove out to inspect the unit to make sure my concerns were addressed... in a snowstorm no less.
Description of Work: Replaced central A/C unit & furnace. Upgraded to higher efficiency & tonnage.

Being a small, family-run business, people were friendly, easy to contact, and took personal pride in their business and their work. Gary was very reliable, and I felt comfortable with going with his recommendations, as he is as honest and has many years experience. I plan on having him install new air conditioning in the spring.
