 + 0 moreAnd, I knew they'd blow smoke with their response.. and they did. Hence, the response of how wonderful they are and how their technicians are certified. HAH!!! What I love is talking to several other HVAC companies in the Bloomington/Normal area and they've told me they get the same comments all the time from new customers regarding "Master's NON-Service." Keep your 98%!!!! I'll take genuine people and genuine respect anytime!!!
Description of Work: I called them to replace the pipes coming out through the roof and to replace the chimney cap and vent. I planned to get a new roof soon after the scheduled date. First of all they never showed up when they were supposed to come. I had to call them again and the guy said he forgot. They had to rush-order my parts and when he finally showed up the day he was to do the work, he was several hours late. He worked on putting up the stainless steel cap for the chimney. He stood it on end on my driveway as he worked on it. It slid down several times from standing on-end scraping the end every time. He could have cared less. He just stood it back up and let it slide down over-and-over. He finally put the cap on had a heck of a time putting back the old cap. (The new cap was late coming in.) Then he set off to replace the one pipe I had coming out of the roof. He actually did a fairly decent job on this. After finishing what he had the parts for, he sat in his truck for well over 30 minutes. Finally he gives me an invoice for almost the entire bid price without doing the cap. he told me the cap would be much more than they had told me. He also lied about the hours on the bill. He included more than an hour of time he was not here working. Unfortunately I have a good credit rating and sucked it up and paid them. I then call Bratcher heating and cooling. the guy came right out the next day and said the roof cap would be about 4 times less then Masters had quoted me (after Masters initial low quote). But, he said, I don't want to rip you off. Your cap is fine. If I were you I'd just buy a can of metallic paint and paint it since it's in such great shape. I shook his hand and thought this is the company I call every time I need Heating and Air work done. I will NEVER use Masters again. Even if I have to do the work myself, I won't pay them a penny to come on my property!!! |Beware people!!! Masters WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!

Description of Work: Furnace stopped working on a Sunday morning when the high for the day was in the single digits. Tech came in 45 minutes and found t he problem in thermostat. He did not have a replacement on the truck. He went to Mernards and bought a replacement and was done in an hour.

 + -1 moreThey always do a great job. They are on time and they show up when they say they will. All of their technicians come into our home and wear booties to keep everything nice in our home. All of the technicians have always been very polite and knowledgeable of products as well.
Description of Work: They winterized our furnace. The price was from a coupon in the newspaper. They have repaired our furnace in the past and they will be cleaning the air ducts as well in the future.

 + -1 moreRandy was the electrician that performed this work. He was prompt, professional, and friendly. He worked hard to complete all the tasks I had. He took steps to avoid things that would have cost me extra money, like accomplishing the work with a tall ladder as opposed to using scaffolding. He was very considerate, and listened to what I wanted, and delivered great results. He also did a phenomenal job of cleaning up after himself. I was very pleased with the results, and would definitely use this company, and Randy again. FYI, their rate if electrical work is $95 per hour.
Description of Work: Replaced a ceiling fan on a very high vaulted ceiling, replaced some recessed lighting, installed a new bathroom light fixture, and added wiring for and installed to wall mounts for TVs.

I even called the office while at the store for the correct size of air filter for my furnace fan. Never can remember that. They were happy to get it for me.  + -1 moreWe originally had a noon appointment and received a call at noon on that day to say the service person had called in sick this morning. I was a little frustrated they waited until the actual time of the appointment to call as I had arrangements to be away from work that day. I did reschedule for later that month and the service man came to the door on time. He was very professional, wore shoe protectors during the entire time he was in the house. Performed maintenance and the proper checks and left after a half hour. I was pleased with his work and mannerisms. They did push the service contract a little hard, even after I told them I wasn't interested at this time. Despite the initial hiccup with the missed appointment, I would user Wm. Masters again.

 + -1 moreOur 20 year old air conditioner gave out and we alled Wm Williams out to provide an estimate for replacement. We already received an estimate from one other company and I wanted to compare. In comparison, Williams represented themselves more professionally. Yes, price is important to me but so is quality. The other company focused on affordability an seemed to over explain why they carried a less expensive product. Williams was able to make me feel secure about Trane and seemed knowledgeable about the product and the installation process. We decided to not only purchase the air conditioner, but a new furnace as well since the two work hand in hand.

We received immediate empathy from the receptionists, Deron Penn, our salesman, went out of his way to make sure we could figure out our temporary portable air conditioner--he even went so far as to set the exhaust system up for us--and our service technicians, Jack and Tory, were impeccable. Kind, funny, and willing to stay as late as it took to get the a/c installed for us that same day. Wm. Masters has a customer for life in us.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner broke on a 95-degree day in August. We spent the night sweating (humans) and panting (dogs) and called Masters at 7 am. We'd already scheduled a visit for them to come give us an estimate that same day at 3 pm, but when I explained to Linda, one of the receptionists, that our a/c had died, she got someone to our home by 9 am. We had a complete central air system installed by 5 pm that same day.

Description of Work: My sump pump went out after 25 years of service. The technician was very prompt, courteous, and accommodating. He pumped the rancid water out of the pump well and installed a pump of the same model as before, stating that I am good to go for the next 25 years. The company is a bit expensive, but well worth the price. I have used them since 2005 and have bought a furnace, air conditioning unit, and water heater from them and have used them for emergency repairs. They are family-run and have a good reputation in the area.

 + 0 moreMike arrived promptly, quickly assessed the situation and confirmed it was as had been described to him on the phone a few days earlier. He was good at explaining things and did a good job, even nicely replacing the carpeting around the base of the toilet. The toilet is flushing great now and we don't have to use the plunger at all AND there is no more leaking around the base!
Description of Work: We had moisture on the carpeting around the base of our main bathroom's toilet. Mike was very knowledgeable and thorough. He replaced a seal around it and also suggested we replace the ball c*** to make flushing better. The extra charge for that was minimal and we were glad he could take care of it right then and there! We will not hesitate to use their services again.
