I've known Chuck Monla, the owner of Unlimited Contracting for several years. He has always seemed to be a fair man. Unfortunately, my actual contracting experience with him was nothing but a nightmare. Initially he gave me proposals on three separate jobs, 2 baths and the kitchen. When I decided to do the one bath and kitchen, we, the contractor and I ordered the materials. I wanted the materials okay'd by Monla before actually ordering them from Menards. Both at my home and at Mendards Monla acted as though he was very busy and really didn't have the time to adequately answer my questions about the materials, such as bathroom vanity, sink, medicine cabinet, kitchen counter top, ceiling panels and lights. I accepted this, and took what advice he gave me. After ordering the materials,I discovered the materials for the bath were the wrong size. The contractor gave me no other options other than to either cancel the work or do an incomplete job. When I told him in a phone conversation that I needed to know my options, such as ordering a new vanity with a mirror that actually fit the space above the vanity or cancel my order, he told me to cancel the job.I canceled the bath work. When Menards told me the kitchen materials would arrive on Wed, I called the contractor and told him. I also told him I needed a new cost for the installation since he would be doing only the kitchen and not the bathroom and kitchen. Chuck Monla said no problem, he would get back to me in a couple of hours. Did not happen. On Wednesday morning Menards dropped off the kitchen materials. I immediately contacted the contractor by phone. Once again, he told me he would get back to me in a couple of hours. He did not. I waited a week, and still did not hear back from him. At that time I began taking bids from other contractors. I talked with 5-6 contractors. Each of the contractors pointed out the SAME errors Chuck Monla made in ordering the materials. He mismeasured the counter top so I ended up with a custom made counter top that did not actually fit. He also ordered new ceiling light cans when the ones already in the ceiling worked fine. Thus, along with the two mistakes in measuring and ordering items for the bathroom, I now had lights and a counter top that were wrong. Luckily, I found a contractor who has been able to rework the counter base and use the custom made counter top so that I do not have to take this one back to Menards and pay the 25% restocking fee as well as ordered a new counter top, this one measured correctly. The lights go back to Menards. Horrible experience.
Description of Work: Nothing. The contractor agreed to do the work, but never did. He agreed to give a time and date and cost of work, but never did any of these things.
