Work was a disaster, here is a bulleted list:1. Walls initially studded with studs flat on walls and glued on with liquid nails. Finishing nail gun used instead of eight-penny nails. At my request, studs were removed and installed correctly so 3.5" insulation batting could be installed2. Drop ceiling had to be removed at block walls for stud/drywall installation. Main beams were cut too short resorting in "rigging it" to try to make it work. Since the beams were too short and couldn't be properly installed I (after firing him) had to uninstall the whole ceiling and start over with new material.3. New patio door was incorrectly installed un-square so door does not properly close. Additionally, flange at bottom of door was set in now crumbing mortar and I'm currently looking for a contractor to uninstall it (hopefully without damaging it so it doesn't need replaced) and reinstall it properly.4. While adding a light bulb to the new can light it flickered and went out. Upon inspection I found loose wire nuts, a mess of electrical tape, and the fixture not grounded. After confirming my wiring was grounded at the circuit breaker box and therefore it should according to code be wired at the fixture I rewired the fixture to code. This led me to check the other fixtures, outlets, and light switches that were modified with the studding of the walls and found the same situation. Additionally the outlets were installed with the ground at the bottom and not to code located on the top (should water damage occur). I was assured the work would be done to code and that they were insured. I didn't ask for proof of these items, which has been a costly lesson.5. While mudding the drywall they were extremely messy which can be understanding to some degree given the job, however it was not immediately cleaned up on floor, decorative wood work around steel support beam, doors, stairway door rails, etc. Since it was not immediately cleaned the workers repeatedly walked through the mud and out my basement door to what use to be a beautiful brink patio as they made their way around the house to their vehicles for supplies, breaks, etc.6. I'm still picking up cigarette butts in my yard and landscaping as I find them mowing the lawn.7. Work would be performed for several days and then they wouldn't return for days (especially after making a payment) and weeks at a time. What was estimated to be a 3-4 week fixed price job turned into a 10-week nightmare. 8. Tiling in kitchen and foyer never completed. Only two bathrooms were completed and were beautiful. However, based on Randy?s lack of commitment, timeliness, integrity, messiness, and disrespect for property I highly don?t recommend him. 9. Basement bathroom was never completed by my own decision recognizing all of the above.10. Payment agreement was to pay a initial down payment and then regular weekly draws as work was completed. This is where I'm to blame as I allowed him to get ahead on what I owed him. After paying him $7000 of the agreed $11,400 he never showed up again resulting in me gladly parting ways with him.11. We were sold on the Randy's promise to be "honest", "timely", and "trustworthy". He did provide four reference which I was able to contact three and get positive reviews. I now suspect these were "loaded" references!
My wife and I have forgiven Randy, which has given us peace and helped remove our bitterness towards him, however I've posted this review so other people do not have to share our experience!
