+ -1 moreAlthough my spec house was pre-wired for a household sound system, I have a modest home theater setup and wanted someone to simply find the wires in the back of my living room and put in a speaker plate so that I could mount my own speakers. After a house call (for a pre-negotiated $100 fee service call) to do just this, I learned that the wires were actually in the ceiling instead of the back wall. With the geometry of the area, that did make more sense, but then I had the problem of what to do with the ceiling. I went by Impressive's warehouse and spoke with Robert about some demo ceiling speakers. We agreed that he would install a pair of ceiling speakers and hook them up to my receiver for a flat fee of $350 parts and labor. Although this was a small project, he hustled to get me on the calendar before Christmas, showed up with his crew and got the job done when he promised, hooked up the receiver and confirmed that everything was working well before leaving. I didn't get competitive bids, though I feel that I got a good deal. My quick look through my favorite internet vendors yielded that I would probably pay at least $100 per speaker for any ceiling speakers I felt would be satisfactory. The demo speakers I had installed were a higher quality than I would have purchased new on my own, and having spent some time in my attic for other projects, the amount I spent total for parts and labor felt like a bargain.

Description of Work: I purchased the system in April of 2011. They contract was sold to someone else, therefore Impressive was no longer responsible, but of course, I did not realize that. Also, the orig. owner/s left and new people were running the show. I have had two false alarms, the last one being about 3 or 4 months ago. The do have a wonderful tech who came out and fixed my system rather than me having to deal with the other company. When my contract is up with Monitronics I may reconnect with Impressive as they deal with someone locally know or they were 3 months ago. I would ask who the contract is with, how long you have to have the contract for. Will they raise the monthly fee during the timeframe. What types of options do you have for the security system. Do your homework first before signing anything. They have been helpful to me, especially the tech. He was a lifesaver on my last false alarm. I would stay away from Monitronics.
