Their last job here was putting up a fence on the north side of our property, where the screws used were so short that panels began blowing down the first time we had wind.. We called them back after the first time, then had someone else just put in much longer screws. We used Affordable Builders off and on for several years. Their work was progressively more sloppy and Steve began taking advantage of ignorance about what was involved in a job by overcharging, first in his inflated estimate and then when the job was done. He would give a dollar amount that was unrelated to the amount of time spent. Only when more questions were asked about hourly rate did he reduce his price.

Horrible. As explained above, he did not do the work because he never lived up to his word. Liar.

They arrived on time on the date promised. They did install the fan and it does work, but the way they left our ceiling was horrible. There are spaces around the fan, plus the drywall in the ceiling was ruined. They put a little spackle on it to try to disguise it, but that didn't work. The floor was left in a huge mess - they wanted to use our vacuum to clean it up. The big problem is, they did not even tell us that they had made a mess of the ceiling, and we didn't see it until later in the day (we had to leave as soon as they were finished). I showed pictures to my son, and he tried calling them, but they did not answer and would not return his calls even after he left 3 messages. As a result of what they did, we had to have new drywall put in and had to have the ceiling repainted. I could not believe it!!

They installed the fan, but really messed up the ceiling around it. AND didn't tell us. We now have to get the ceiling repaired and repainted. They also had to user our ladder and did not have a vacuum to clean up their mess. My son called and left them 3 voicemails, and they would not return the calls. Unbelievable!!!

The owner Steve Lienhop recommded paint (rather than stain we thought might be appropriate) for the porch and stairs, and was careful to get a color as close as possible to what we wanted. He came with one employee to help him to do the job-- they came on time and did a job we were totally satisfied with. He came twice, one to do the front porch and steps, and once to do the gutter work and paint the back steps. His estimate of the costs was in line with the final charges. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and entirely trustworthy. We have worked with him before and always been satisfied; but this is the first time I have reviewed his work for Angie's List.

Overall it went well. There were some delays at the begaining due to equipment failure but other than that it was fine. I will consider therm for any future porjects.

I met Steve of Affordable builders at the rental property and went over what needed to be done and gave him the tenants phone number. He later contacted them and did the job on time. He did a very good job.
