The job did not get done.
Description of Work: I need an element/burner replaced on my electric range. Kitchenaid recommended A and E Factory service, because they are an "authorized repair service" for Kitchenaid appliances. I secured the inital appointment rather quickly. I didn't receive a call before the appointed hour. I called the 800 number to learn the repair person was calling me at work. I made it clear that the range was in home and not in my office. He was rather prompt. All he did was order the parts on his lap top from my kitchen, he did not touch the stove. I was not impressed with the limited hours of service. Weekdays 8-5 and Saturdays 8-5 and you must commit to bliocking out an entire morning or afternoon for the appointment. ( I refuse to schedule during my work day, because of the countless snafus I have experienced with scheduled repairs and deliveries. ) The parts were delivered promptly to my home. Two weeks later I have cleared out a Saturday afernoon for my 1-5 PM appontment. I callled at around 12:30PM to confirm my appointment. I was reassured it was a go. At 1:19PM I received call saying the technician fell and injured his back and was on his way to the ER. I was told I had to reschedule my appointment. I said, "Where is your plan B?" Why can't you send a replacement technician in his place today?" I was told it takes two technicians to repair a stove. Really? My weekends are very busy and now I have rescheduled for 3 weeks away. I want to do knee jerk and fire them, but I have already paid $200 in parts. Kitchenaid will be cc'd on this matter. Mary Ann Mayfield Chicago, Il

Description of Work: The screen on our KitchenAid oven would not illuminate when the oven was over 400 degrees. A Service representative came and told us that we needed to replace the electronic component of the module with the display at a cost of $400. He ordered the part and scheduled a return on the following week. He replaced the component. Whereas with the original component the oven continued to work (just the display would not appear), now the oven would not work at all. We were told that we needed to replace the module itself at a cost of an additional $500. We told the representative that we needed a functioning stove for several events scheduled over the holidays. The following week, when the module was to have been delivered, we were told it was on back order for two weeks. We cancelled the order for the part and have refused payment for the component that did not work. We called Abt and ordered a new stove which was delivered and installed in 24 hours.

Overall, it has not gone well. The first service call was satisfactory, the needed part was on the truck, and the repairman was courteous and timely. However, the serviceman was sent back to my home after completing the job an accepting payment, to run my card through again. I refused, because my bank had already put a hold On the funds and I was not going to have double the amount due held. The valve failed again, and my husband handled the second visit. I can't say for sure what transpired because I wasn't there, but nothing was done, and even though the water to the dishwasher was turned off, it continues to leak. We arrange for a third service call. After arriving late (was supposed to come between 8 and 12, got here after that), the guy was here five minutes and said he would have to order the valve. I missed an entire day of work for nothing. Our floor installation is on hold. The repair buy could have cared less, and A&E customer service hung up on me.

Technician was supposed to be here bt 1 & 5pm. Arrived at 7pm. He consulted the owners manual and decided to replace the motor. He ordered the part and we scheduled visit #2 for the following week. A&E then pushed visit #2 back another week saying the parts wouldn't be here in time. However, the parts arrived in time for original appt. Tech was 3.5 hours late for visit #2, replaced the motor and left. DW still didn't work. He came a week later for visit #3 and decided to order a motor and a control board. Again, A&E later rescheduled #3 and then the parts turned out to be on time. On visit #3, he installed the motor and control board. Still didn't work. On visit #4, he called to reschedule 2 hours after he was supposed to be there. Came back a week later. Ordered a new water valve. Came back a week later for visit #5, pulled out the dishwasher & discovered the water line was permanently damaged from one of the many times he had pulled out. We asked him to leave and fixed it ourselves.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher was running, but the dishes weren't getting clean. Water was going into the dishwasher but wasn't being pushed around. The dishwasher was under warranty so that we had to pay for labor, but not parts.

It took FOUR visits to repair the dishwasher. Every technician arrived late. One of the attempts resulted in a flooded kitchen and basement. Now the floor tiles are coming up, and I can smell mold. I have called A&E three times to have someone look at the damage and tell me what will happen, and cannot get a straight answer. I will say the technicians were always polite and professional, as are the phone agents. But the overall service and responsiveness is extremely unsatisfactory. I would not call this company again to fix a broken nail.

A&E Factory Service came out to inspect and fix our dryer. Once they diagnosed problem, they told us the part was on back order. We were going on holiday and when we returned we found out the part was not on back order like it was supposed to be. In fact, it was never ordered. When we called to check on the progress they never responded. We were without a dryer for six weeks because of their negligence. They charged us for the initial visit and never did any repairs. I would not recommend them to anyone for any reason.

This company has come out 3 times to fix my dishwasher and it is still not repaired. The first time they came out, the part that was needed had to be ordered. When the part arrived, they came again (trip #2), but this time it was the wrong part(I am not sure if the technician order the wrong part or the supplier shipped the wrong part). So the technician ordered the part again. The second go round of part(s) were ordered. Again I had to wait another week before the technician could come out to install them. AGAIN, the technician says the wrong parts were ordered(trip # 3), so they ordered them again. To date I am still waiting.... I do not have a functioning dishwasher, the technician disconnected the dishwasher drain, so now if I use the sink water overflows from the dishwasher on to the floor, so I have to use another sink.

I don't have enough characters in the posting window for this entire sad tale. Suffice to say that after diagnosing a bad circuit board, ordering the board late, receiving the WRONG board, then ordering the correct board, which still did not make the dryer operational, a burnt wire was found. I gave up 5 days ( 4 for technician visits, one in tracking down a board) and 300 bucks. The dryer fortunately works now. The technician literally told me he was quitting the company once he finally had my dryer repaired, as he had 'no training'. Attempts to talk to anyone in charge at this organization are impossible, all calls are taken at a central call center in San Antonio, which is unable to contact the technician by telephone, only e-mail. The level of customer non-service is unbelievable. WARNING - they also are service for another national retail company, just a different name, same central organization. Avoid at all costs!!!

Description of Work: Icemaker in freezer had stopped working. After two missed connections with appointments (A & E only offers the broad 8AM-5PM window, not very convenient), and, consequently, three weeks without ice, the serviceman arrived, and quickly assessed the problem: the refrigerant coils under the side-by-side unit were caked with dust and dirt, which caused the waterline into the icemaker to freeze over. After carefully vacuuming then dusting the coils, the icemaker worked fine. Total cost was $110 for visit, $0 for parts.

We called the toll-free phone number which we obtained from the factory label on the dishwasher. Customer service reception was friendly and efficient. Made the call on a Monday and they promised service on Thursday morning between 8am and noon. The technician called the day of service to say he was on his way. He arrived promptly and was professional. The technician was neatly uniformed and fully equipped. He only went out to his truck once to get the part that he needed to replace. The transaction was completed and we were provided with a detailed printed receipt upon payment. It was a pleasure to work with this company.
Description of Work: KitchenAid dishwasher repair. Three year old appliance failed to clean dishes properly for lack of water pressure. Within 10 minutes the technician had diagnosed that the food chopper had broken due to a piece of string resulting in a clogged filter. He had the replacement part in inventory on his truck and completed the service call neatly and efficiently. He also made us aware that the machine had not been installed properly. Without asking, he leveled the machine with a handheld level which helps to save water and improve the machine's performance. This company equips it's technicians with laptop computers for reference for parts and repairs for the particular application that they are assigned.

When KitchenAide suggested I use this repair shop, the first thing I checked was their rating on Angie's List. I was shocked to find they had such a poor grade and quite concerned about the potential quality of their work, but gave them a try since they were recommeded by the manufacturer. They must have made a lot of changes since the other reveiwers dealt with them because I was very pleased with both their work and price. I will definitely use them again. No other factory contractor was willing to come out the same day, but A & E fit me into their schedule and showed up as promised. I had prepared myself to be ready to pay a ridiculous amount to get my refrigerator fixed, but they replaced only the part needed to get it running perfectly. They were in and out in 20 minutes and I couldn't be more pleased with their work.
Description of Work: My $2500 refrigerator would not cool and everything in the freezer melted. I called KitchenAide and they recommeded A & E Factory Service, who came out the same day. From my description of the problem, the technician was able to diagnose the problem, showed up on time with all the tools he needed and the replacement part in his hand. He was very careful in moving the refrigerator, efficient in replacing the part and mindful of the cord and water line when pushing the unit back into place. He even used a long screwdriver to make sure neither one was caught near or under the wheels. He was very polite and knowledgable.

They came out and told me that I needed some parts and they would order them, I got the call two days later that there would be no parts available soon. I called the manufacturer directly and they sent them to me. The company (A&E) didn't tell me all the parts that I needed, so I didn't get them. The installer came back to install the parts and said he needed to go out to see how to get the parts and he ended leaving without letting me know he left or ordering the parts.

Technician was on-time, very friendly, very courteous, very careful about keeping the house clean, very careful with his work. Before disconnecting hoses, he asked for Tupperware for the water to spill into, even though my floor had a drain nearby. He diagnosed the problem very quickly and performed the work very quickly but not sloppily, and while he was at it, he tightened some hoses that were a little bit loose. Paid nothing because it was covered by my warranty, but would definitely recommend them.

COMPANY CHANGED ME FOR SERVICE CALL AND INCORRECTLY ASSESSED PROBLEM WHEN INDICATED THAT THE DRYER NEEDED A NEW IGNITOR. DID NOT STOCK PART AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED TO WAIT A WEEK FOR THE REPAIRS. WHEN I CONTACTED ANOTHER CONTRACTOR, THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A THERMOSTAT AND FIXED IT ON THE SPOT. WHEN I TRIED TO RECOVER THE COST FOR THE INCORRECT ASSESSMENT FROM A&E, I WAS DENIED A REFUND.

A&E FACTORY SERVICE DID NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR LIKE I EXPECTED. I NEEDED TO BE ADAMANT ABOUT MY LEAK AND THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MACHINE. THEY SHOWED UP LATE MOST OF THE TIMES I CALLED THEM OUT AND SEEMED TO NOT REALLY CARE IF THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM OR NOT. I ALSO HAVE SCRATCHES ON MY NEW WASHER FROM HIS BELT BUCKLE FROM HIM LEANING OVER THE MACHINE. HE ALSO PUT MARKS FROM HIS SHOES ON THE WALL. I FIND THEIR SERVICE TO BE UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCOMPETENT. I WOULD NEVER CALL THESE PEOPLE BACK AGAIN TO REPAIR ANY OF MY APPLIANCES.
Description of Work: A&E CAME OUT TO REPAIR MY WHIRLPOOL CLOTHES WASHER. I TOLD THEM MY WASHER WAS SHAKING, SQUEAKING AND LEAKING WATER FROM BOTTOM. WHEN THEY CAME OUT, I WAS TOLD THE SHAKING IS NORMAL BECAUSE ITS ON THE FIRST FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO LEAK. I POINTED OUT THE WATER THAT WAS IN THE PAN THAT I PUT DOWN JUST FOR THIS REASON AND THEN HE CHECKED FURTHER TO DISCOVER THAT THE FRAME WAS BENT AND THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE. HE HAD TO ORDER PART AND COME BACK AGAIN FOLLOWING WEEK TO REPAIR. THEY CAME BACK AND MADE THE REPAIR ONLY TO CONNECT MY HOSES WRONG. I ENDED UP CALLING IN ANOTHER REPAIRMAN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I DID NOT WANT THEM BACK IN MY HOME.
