John showed up on time, very nice and definitely knew what he was doing. There were a zillion pieces screws, bolts, fasteners, etc. etc. he took his time and I am pretty sure it took longer than he expected but he never said anything and stuck to the price quoted. I would recommend him to my friends and family without hesitation.

John & company did an excellent job on my project. They went over and beyond my expectations. They are knowledgeable, skilled, and efficient. Hire this team for your next project. They are just all round great.

This is the worst experience I ever had with a contractor. I hired this company to remove an old deck and replace it with an in kind deck. I paid him a 90% of the total fee up front as he told me he would complete the work in 2 weeks so i thought the risk was very small. He did part of the work and then I never heard from him again. He would not call me back or return any text messages. This has been going on for over a year. I have had to hire a different contractor to finish the project. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I am still trying to collect my money from him for the unfinished work.

Comment: John, the owner and key person is very likeable and does good work. The issue is he is terrible at returning phone calls and doing what he says he will do. It has been a real battle to get him to complete our deck project which has taken over a year and we are still at the beginning. We have given him over 9K so he could order the materials before the weather changes. Very frustrated with him and we are still waiting for a call back. Based on our experience with him, we will never work with him for other projects. If you decide to work with him, I would only say be very careful and do not be surprised if he repeats the same issues to you. If you look at some of the other reviews about him, you will see some of the same results. We had to invoke Home Advisor customer solutions to intercede to try to get him to complete the project or return our money.

Never called me back to receive a contract from him, TERRIBLE customer service.

He was open minded about our needs and helped us think through what we wanted. I threw a couple extra things at him when he got here to do the work, and he was very flexible with reworking his schedule and changing the estimate. Consummate professional! I already have some ideas for him for next spring!

I an still in Awe about their professionalism and care used while completing the job. I need them on speed dial because there are no jobs too large or small for A-1 to complete. The wall (s) with the crack and cabinet that was coming loose from the wall are like new. I couldn't even tell that work was done because the work area was left clean and I am really happy about my choice.

After finally getting a start date, A-1 did a great job even though there were some construction issues that came up after they were able to get the front facing removed. They corrected mistakes made by a previous contractor. The final result has made a huge difference in the front appearance of the house.

Hired A-1 for single-to-double sink vanity conversion. Owner John enjoys his work, and is a craftsman when confronted with a construction challenge. Great problem solver. Excellent work at a fair price. Highly recommended.

Flexible and professional

We really liked John. He was hardworking and had a good personality. We found him through Home Advisor and he came right away, as we had a water emergency. He was able to help us with that project. We discussed a number of other projects, including landscaping and appliance replacement, and he told us he was very interested and would come back. But then he stopped communicating with us. He didn't even give us the promised receipt for us to submit for our claim. It was completely bewildering. We texted and called many times since he seemed so interested in helping us. Nada. Not only did he not have the courtesy to return our outreach, he didn't even let us know that he wasn't interested in our projects anymore. We lost a lot of time giving him the benefit of the doubt in case he was busy and couldn't get back to us right away. We don't mind that he didn't want to help us. But he was completely unprofessional in not giving us our promised receipt or returning even one text or phone call. To this day, we don't understand it.

John is very responsive and very helpful. He crafted a solution to some exposed bolts.. he strung lights for me on the gazebo and he finished the project in a very short time. I would call him again for my building needs
