They took care of the issue at hand. Water was getting trapped between the roof and the chimney. Water was leaking into our front room plaza. They were very responsive. They were in a convenient location.

So initially had issues getting anyone to show up for the estimate appointment. The owner saw my review here on Angie's List and contacted me directly to apologize and coordinate an appointment. Once the roofer showed up he was very professional and the quality of work appears to be excellent. It still took a couple of weeks to get through the proposal process and get a date scheduled, but on the day the roofer was able to complete all the work in a single day as estimated.
Description of Work: 1) Remove existing 90# rolled roofing off of front sloped roof transition.2) Install new modified bitumen to original base sheet.3) Install new termination bar on edge of said modified bitumen with mastic. 4) Install aluminum coating over existing modified bitumen roof system including curbs.5) Install new modified bitumen flashing on existing skylight curbs.

A thoroughly professional job. Due to the roof pitch and configuration, this was a challenging job. I had expected the rebuilding of the brick chimney to have at least some collateral damage, but there was none. The asphalt roof went on in three days with a crew of six. I was kept informed of each step in the process. This was a difficult job, and Champion Roofing performed above expectations. I have the confidence that the job was done right, and that is the highest compliment I can give them. I would recommend Champion without reservation.
Description of Work: Installed new asphalt roof and rebuilt brick chimney on a sharply-pitched roof with multiple dormers.

It was quick and easy. I didn't realize that he was done. It was nothing out of the ordinary. They got the job done. The great thing was that they never got in the way from anything. They were basically in and out. It was really quick. For the price, it's pretty efficient. It's still holding up. I would recommend them.

We had PVC roofing put in and set up additional shingles because it was on a flat roof. It was tar paper roof before that. The quality of the product is really good. Its some of the top of the line up there right now. I thought the service was okay. I'm sure my wife would say differently. The first day they got here, they hit our gutter trying to back in down our driveway. We have a pretty narrow driveway and it goes right along side the house. They clipped the gutter on that corner of the house that's right by the driveway. They did have to replace that. Otherwise, I feel they were evry accessible and knew what they were doing. They seem pretty professional other than that incident. For the part that we got, they were middle of te road. They weren't the most expensive but they weren't the cheapest either. The product that we got was very good. Me personally, I would say I would I would use them again, my wife would definitely say not.
Description of Work: We upped the insulation on it and then had the PVC roofing put on it.

It was fine. He went on the roof and he screw in the gutter. It was not even part of the deal and they guy wanted $5000 to do my roof maintenance in addition to the package. They guy was great and I would never say anything bad about him and I would still recommend him. While he was up there he saw the gutter lose and screw it. It was a waste of time and money. He was great but we not on the same page.

Originally we were advised that this job would take 6-8 weeks weather dependent. We let them know that we were already concerned because the winter was coming (we started in mid to late October). We also said if it got too late that we would just postpone it until the spring. They said that it wasn't a concern. The first crew they sent out was to demo the parapet (brick at top). Removed in a timely fashion. After this is when the problems started. There was 1-2 masons off and on coming out to our site just for a few hours each day. This part of the project took 5 weeks. Well you can see they understaffed our site and the time frame that was advised to us that it would take was already passing and they hadn't even started the roof, gutters, venting, etc. So we were 6 weeks in and it got very cold. Long story short they didn't finish until late March. After this we were still having problems with watershedding on our roof. They had to come out an additional few times to get that right and fix some mistakes they had made. So a 6-8week project turned into 6 months with scaffolding present the whole time.

Stay away from Champion roofing in Bensenville! They tore off my roof and damaged my siding and windows in the process as they did not cover the sides of my home. The contractors did not show up when the weather permitted and they just left my roof with a flimsy tarp to hold off the summer storms. I spoke with Champion on all of these issues and it did not go well. They threatened to file a lien on my home when I told them they had to pay for the window damage. I am sure Champion will have some quick reply to say I am not reasonable or something. Do not believe them! When things do not go as expected with a contractor I do not expect to be yelled at and threatened which seems to be the way Champion does business.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MEMBER We were forced to get an attorney involved as he completely fabricated window damage. Problem was the scratch he alleged is on the inside of glass, not outside. Only when we threatened to protect our money due with a suit and a lien did he pay most of his balance. The member is completely fabricating that we left his house unprotected. The house was felted in and then tarped. This member is the kind of client who from the beginning of job will look for any issue not to pay. Contractors beware!!!!

I had a durable roof with some small leaks of unknown etiology. Champion Roofing gave me a two quotes; one to caulk in the expectation that a thorough caulking job would fix the leaks and a second for caulking plus a replacement roof. I opted for the caulk and paid $650 for the job. Leaks continued unabated. I then asked for the roof replacement and requested that the $650 I had paid be applied. I thought this made sense since the quote was for caulking plus roof and the caulking had already been done and paid for. Champion only allowed a $350 credit toward the $6500 roof replacement cost. I accepted their terms and they replaced the roof. The new material was not nearly as tough and durable as what was replace. This roof is a walkway and deck area between two apartments so it must stand up to foot traffic and other light usage. During the first rain after replacement, the roof leak as bad or worse than it had ever before. Since the work was, of course, warranted I asked Champion to come out and fix the leaks. They did come and go some patching of what they claimed was damage caused by the tenants. Perhaps this was the case, but the tenants had not done anything unusual or anything they hadn't done without a problem on the old roof. Champion is charging me $550 for this repair, denying that the warranty covered it. The leaks did not stop after this repair and Champion is refusing to come out to fix the problem. There had been a wood deck over part of the roof. It had been there for years without causing any problems with the old roof. The new roof was too flimsy for the deck I was obligated to buy and install an additional layer of roofing material so that I could put the deck back down. In addition, they melted some of the vinyl siding during the installation and they left a couple of sheets of old roof plywood at the job site. Two more calls were required to get these problems taken care of. The tenant and her young daughter, who were home during the roof installation, were appalled by the loud, foul language and the abusive treatment of the crew by the supervisor.

The member here is the type contractors should try to avoid doing busines with. He still has an unpaid balance for work performed. His expectations are not real or his his description of what occurred. We performed a new roof installation. The quote "flimsy material" is TPO. The same material used on Walmart, Kmart and hundreds of millions of square feet across the USA. His tenants put down folding chairs on new roof and punctured membrane. This is not a warranty issue. All worked performed was of the highest quality and the contract was executed EXACTLY as signed by member.

I called for a roofing estimate on Tuesday morning. I received a call back later that day from someone saying the minimum charge was $650. That was all that person said, it had nothing to do with setting up an estimate. On Wednesday, I called for a second time to speak to an actual an estimator. Then on Thursday I called for a third time. I had never received a call back by the end of the week. Complete waste of time. They finally called AFTER I wrote this review. Sad that a negative review has to be written for a company to respond. I obviously did not waste any more of my time with them.

After they finished the roof, they said they would be back to do the siding. After more than 6 weeks of calling to find out when they were coming back, they told us that they would not be finishing the work and that they would just deduct it from the contract. Not only is it now very late in the season and going to be difficult to find someone else who can get the work done before the weather changes, but it's going to be more expensive to just do the one section of work versus the two. Additionally - the crews damaged the light fixtures on the side of the building when they were removing the old roof. They promised to come back and fix those and have not done that either. Overall, the communication and professionalism of this company is far below average. I would highly recommend finding another company for your roofing needs.

I have only heard fabulous things about Champion from people I know, so when it came time to bid out our roofing needs, we called them first. My wife met with the estimator, went over everything that needed to be done, including a walk-through and we received a contract with the cost (which was reasonable) and sent in 50% upfront. We were told we'd get a call in a 2-3 weeks to schedule the work. 5 weeks later my wife called to find out when the work would be scheduled and was told that lo & behold the solar fan had just been delivered to the company so they were just about to call us to schedule. Timing was coincidental, but fine as long as the work was scheduled, we were happy. We were told a crew would start on Monday. We had been told that crews don't come out to work if there is a 30% chance of rain, so we were surprised when a crew came out when there was a 50% chance of rain (must get their weather from a different meteorologist?) and worked through rain that lasted over an hour mid-day. Monday evening I came home from work and saw a substantial mess around our house and that our outdoor light fixture over our front door had been damaged. The work crew (which must have been subcontractors, since there was no mention of Champion anywhere among the work crew's clothing or trucks; in fact several of the work crew were wearing shirts for different roofing companies) was just finishing up for the day so I found the foreman, pointed out the mess and damage to the fixture. He promised to fix the fixture and said they were about to clean up. I saw one of the workers was using a leafblower and blowing roofing debris onto my neighbor's property, so I again went to the foreman and pointed out that was a problem and he said they were just The next day there was a 40% chance of early morning rain, so the crew didn't show up. Wednesday they came out, finished the work by mid-afternoon and left without doing a final clean up or fixing the light fixture. I went and cleaned up the roofing materials on my neighbor's property but left most of the mess (lots of nails, which is problematic when you have small children, and pieces of roofing material) on my own property. My wife pointed out to me that they had removed the wood railing on our 2nd floor deck, where the flat roof had been replaced and that the flat roof was not put down well and not finished on the sides, so that rain would be able to get underneath it. My wife contacted Champion pointing out these various issues and asked for a representative from the company to come out and take a look. She was told over the phone that SHE had specifically asked for the wood railing, which admittedly needed to be replaced, to be removed, which is not true. She was then later told that the estimator has told her that it had to be removed, which was also not true. The next evening I came home and the work crew's foreman was standing in front of my house looking up. I assumed this was the person that was sent to look at things so I had a conversation with him. He said he fixed some of the issues with the flat roof (I checked later and he did) but that there were gaps around the side because the crew who put the gutters in would fix that (that seemed logical). He said he couldn't fix the light fixture and then asked me to call Champion and say everything was fine now so he could get paid. Even though everything was not fine. I was pretty upset by the conversation so I called and left a message with the owner. He called me back the next day and seemed rather dismissive of my complaints (again saying that we had been informed the railing would be removed, even though we hadn't been; saying that no one can get every piece of trash, and that not everything would be perfect yet since the gutter install hadn't been done and that we should have been patient and wait for the Champion guy to come out and give everything a lookover, even though how were we supposed to know that the foreman of a work crew that did work for Champion doesn't count as a representative of the company?). He did send out one of his guys that day to take a look. That gentleman admitted to my wife that the cleanup was pretty shoddy and did some cleaning himself. He also said the edges of the flat roof should have been done better but that the gutter installers would fix it, and that we should be a new light fixture and Champion would install it. The gutter install was done the following week and everything seemed to have gone smoothly, although once again there was no mention of Champion Roofing on any vehicles or clothing of the individuals who did the work. I guess you don't complain if someone comes and puts new gutters on your house without letting you know who they are, I just find it a little odd. We immediately got our invoice for the 2nd 50% emailed and mailed to us, at which time we emailed back and said we weren't paying until the light fixture was fixed. The email reply was "OK". It's been several weeks and still no word from Champion. The new light fixture is waiting patiently to be installed. I really dislike having an outstanding debt but it seems clear to all parties that no additional payment is expected until they fix the damage. We decided to not make an issue of the wood railing, not even ask for an apology for being lied to--all someone had to say was, "Sorry we didn't mention the railing was going to be removed but it was in such shoddy shape it was dangerous for us to leave it up while doing work" and we would have been satisfied. Instead being told first that my wife had requested something that she hadn't and then told that the removal was part of the initial service quote, even though there is no mention of it in the contract, seems unnecessary and insulting. We weren't going to complain about the flower bed that got beat up near the house from workers walking all over them. I guess that's the cost of dealing with subcontractors who don't have the same level of concern as the actual employees of a company. I hope they contact us soon about the light fixture install. Or perhaps we should just get an electrician to come out and do the work and deduct it from the total amount owed. Either way, this is a fitting end to a disappointing affair. As I said at the beginning, I had only heard good things about Champion, so that made the entire episode disappointing. Maybe they are experiencing rapid growth which entailed a need to use outside crews that aren't up to the company's usual sterling reputation and caused delays on work getting done. Nonetheless, those crews are still representing the company and at least in my humble opinion, that isn't good for them.

Overall these guys were pretty good. I was not impressed by having to call them a few times to get an expected start date after sending in my deposit and executing the contract. It seems right now that they did a pretty good job, but there was one issue that I needed to be fixed later, and it took a couple weeks for them to come out. I wouldn't use them again because when I did call to have them come back out, that they said it would be a few weeks because they are so backloaded from the weather being bad. My issue is that I just had the interior fixed where my leaking was, saw the issue, and they had no sense of urgency to fix their mistake. When they did show up, they were incredibly professional and definitely seemed like they knew what they were talking about - just getting them there was the tough part, which I can understand to a degree.
