Description of Work: We had two different kinds of existing fencing. One was chain link and the other was wood. We wanted to have a more consistent look, so we decided to put in an aluminum fence. We called Cardinal Fence along with several other contractors. Each of the contractors had their pluses and minuses, but Cardinal seemed to go the extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable with what we were getting. They explained why they believed their product was better and brought us samples to look at. We did request samples from the other people we requested bids from. Some brought them, and some did not. Cardinal was not pushy. They were very patient with all the questions that we had with regard to the fence. They were on time and punctual when they told us they were coming.  + -1 moreExcellent quality workmanship and materials. I specified crushed stone for the fence post footings and they did it--the other bidders would not. The job was completed on time and they left the work area clean.
Description of Work: They installed a new cedar fence along our back property line, with gate. Removed the old concrete fence post footings and hauled away the old fence.

 + -1 moreEverything turned out nicely. We had some other companies give us bids, but some of them were not willing to do only a partial fence. We appreciated that Cardinal Fence was willing to do the portion we requested, and we found them to be very accommodating. They did exactly what we wanted them to do. They came when they said they would come, and when they were going to be late they called, which was nice. We were very happy with their work and would certainly use them again.

 + -1 moreThe fence looks really nice, but it is not what I contracted with them.
Description of Work: Linda came out to do an estimate in the summer of 2008. We wanted to do a cedar fence around our backyard. After a few glithches, we got an estimate that we were happy with, but decided to hold off on the project. In May of 2009, I called Linda and asked if they would honor the estimate from the previous year. She said yes. We discussed some minor, but significant changes (i.e. gate and fence panel positioning) to the original plan. Per Linda's instruction, I made the changes on the original contract and sent in the deposit. In the next few days, I was put on total bedrest late in my pregnancy. In the meantime, the job was scheduled and completed in a resonable amount of time. Approximatey 3 or 4 weeks later, I was taken off bedrest and was able to look at the new fence, after I had paid in full. I immeadiatley realised the changes to the contract had not been honored and I called the company first thing. They said they would look into it. I then went into the hospital to give birth. Cardinal called back while I was in the hospital and spoke with my husband, someone with whom they had had no previous dealings. His understanding was that they wanted to change as little as possible to the fence to fix the problem, but that they would speak to us before they did anything. About 5 days later, we were out running errands and we came home and the fence was changed, but still wrong. I got on the phone and I asked why they did not talk to us first so that they could do it right. They said they didn't have a chance to call us. They said they had some free time because it was raining that day and they sent a crew over at the last minute. Reluctantly, they offered to schedule some time to do the fence again. I expressed concern over digging and redigging post holes and the integrity of the soil holding the poles up. They said that was a legitimate concern. I offered to take a rebate instead of having it completed per the contract. They said they would talk to the boss and call me back the next day. Four days later, they finally called and said they could do a rebate and we negotiated a fair rebate. They said they would send me a check, that was 7 weeks ago and I have not heard anything from them since.

 + -1 moreI am extremely happy with my new fence which was recently installed by Cardinal. From start to finish Cardinal was professional, reliable and responsive. Linda was very helpful from the beginning in helping me to chose the correct fence that was right for my needs and came out several times to discuss the project with me. I decided at the last minute (the evening before installation) that I wanted to switch from a 4 foot fence to a 5 foot fence, and Cardinal easily accommodated my needs. I was also impressed with how clean Cardinal left my yard after performing the work. On top of that, I thought the price was extremely reasonable for the amount of fence that I purchased. I would not hestiate to recommend Cardinal to anyone who is thinking about purchasing a new fence.

 + -1 moreThey did an excellent job. They came out and measured, and they told us how much it would cost us, and that was it. That was the price that we paid. Everything was done in a reasonable time frame. Within three weeks of us telling them to do the job, the fence was put in. Everything went smoothly.
Description of Work: They put in about 150-180 feet of fencing and two gates. It was a 6 foot, wood privacy fence.

Once we decided to hire Cardinal Fence, Linda was very accommodating and offered to help get the permit for me since I was not able to make it during the week. They came out fairly quickly to install the fence and it looks great.

 + -1 moreI called Cardinal to set up time for an estimate. Received a call back to set up time. We agreed on a time which was more than a few days later than other fencing companies. Employee gave me a "ball park" estimate over the phone which was same to slightly higher than other fencing companies on Angie's List. Employee could not come for estimate at a time convenient to me so she said she would leave the estimate in my mailbox if I was not home. After getting other estimates from other companies, I called her back and told her to forget it and save her driving over here. Days later she called me to tell me she was on her way. I reminded her that we had already canceled the appointment. She confessed that she was confused and was supposed to be going to another customer's house and forgot. Needless to say, I went with a more "faithful" company that I found here on Angie's list that was more professional, and a lot less expensive than the over the phone "ballpark" quote I was given based on the measurements I gave.

He discussed the options for our property and made height suggestions. He also took a look at small run of fencing already on our property and demonstrated its weakness to us, which would have allowed our dogs to escape. He explained how they could reinforce that fence. In the end, we were very pleased with the thoroughness and customer care. However we chose another company who could complete the work faster.

They came one day to tear out the old fence and to set the posts and returned several days later to put up the fence. A very sturdy fence, well constructed, obviously high quality materials. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything neat looking. The fence looked better than I had envisioned. Took a week for the fence to go in which is what they told me.

 + -1 moreThe owner (Mike Hubert) came for both the estimate and the final measurements. When the installation crew was digging, they struck an underground cable which was NOT their fault (JULIE mismarked the area.) They immediately called ComEd and called me 5 minutes later. (Fortunately it was not a power line.) They could not install the originally ordered gate due to the sidewalk. A new gate was ordered and installed 1 and 1/2 weeks later, all at no additional cost to me. The installation was top-notch, they cleaned up and left the property in good condition. Above all, the installation crew was professional and flexible given the challenges of the installation. I'm very pleased with the end result and have had 2 neighbors compliment me on our new fence!

Since I was in a bind with my dog's I asked if they could speed up the install. Thought it was going to be a week out, but Jeff the owner and Pete the shop manager came through with flying color's. Did the install nearly a week early and had two crews on the job. These guy's rocked! Arrived right on time and worked like hell. In addition to a fast install they did a superb job. Neighbors were in awe of the speed and quality that was rendered. I could go on, but I think you get the point. These guy's are the real deal.

 + -1 moreEveryone I came in contact with was friendly and professional. We received an estimate within a couple of days, and, when something had to be changed on the contract, John responded immediately. The actual installation was done under adverse conditions. Extremely high heat the first two days and heavy rain on the last. The installers were terrific. And when we noticed that four boards were cracked and had to be replaced, the company responded within three days and not only replaced the boards that we found, but checked everything and replaced a couple more.
Description of Work: A 5 foot spaced picket fence was installed around three sides of my backyard. The price included one three foot gate and two four foot gates.
