+ 0 morethe completed job looks great totally satisfied with the end result! but just one minor complaint and as far as contractors go this is minor. when i was given the quote the guy who gave the quote was not 100% sure the size and color of materials needed was in stock at the supply house and supply house was closed that day so he could not call and ask but he said he thought they would be in stock. ended up not being in stock and they had trouble getting the materials. no one called to inform me of this situation a simple voicemail would have been nice i had to call them after the given timeline for install had passed. lucky we had an unusually warm winter so far with no snow or i would have been waiting till spring. they did a great job on the install looks great. but i had to ding them on responsiveness for not picking up a phone when the materials thing went squirrely. they were not the cheapest quote i got but they are a local company been around a long time and offered a 10 year warranty and I have no doubt they will still be around in 10 years if i need it.

+ 0 moreEcohome was punctual which was refreshing. They took their time installing the solar panels and the skylights. They were obviously very concerned with quality over speed. We are happy with both jobs. The solar panels came with a state rebate and a federal rebate making them very affordable. We've seen approximately a 40% drop in our electric bill in most months. We would also like to add that Ecohome always called us back, helped us with the rebate paperwork, and answered all of our questions. They were very patient and helpful with us, which is great because we are not very tech savvy. It is so nice that they went above and beyond to help us with anything we asked about. Great job, great service!

+ -1 morei called him a few times. i cancelled the first appointment. he cancelled the second appointment. when he arrived @ my home for the third appointment, he parked in my driveway.......did not ask permission. there was plenty of on street parking. he came into the house and we talked "roofing" for a few minutes. he looked in only one of my attics; i have two attics. he did not enter........just looked in for a minute or so. he did not go up on the roof. he stated that he could get all his information from the ground. how can a roofer "look" @ a roof from the ground? don't you have to walk the roof in order to see what type of job you w/b doing? a car mechanic can't and won't give you an estimate on the telephone; you have to bring your car to his shop. i don't know how many estimates i got from him, b/c one part of the estimate was over 8000.00 dollars; and near the proposal acceptance line, he had a figure of 15,000.00 dollars. i won't ever call him again. he sounded so much like an expert, when he was on a local radio program. i don't know what he wanted for a price, and i don't know what he expected from me. nice guy..........just not the roofer i would ever use.

+ 0 moreIf I had asked for all my money back, would he have been as agreeable? Why did he not offer that in the first place? Am I just not assertive enough? My wife was very disappointed when I told her. After all, we were out $50 and got nothing. For the record Scandroli came Saturday and said he could have his men do it for $160, but recommended that I wait until it got warm again. He did not think I would have a problem since it had stopped leaking on its own. That afternoon I got up on my high, steep roof and shoveled off as much snow as I could reach and put on my own calcium chloride. Time will tell if it was enough. It is still cold and we have had no more precipitation.
Description of Work: We had a leaky ceiling in a second floor bedroom on 2/18 due to an ice dam on our roof. It stopped on its own that night. The next day, 2/19, I called Eco Home Experts (aka Kangaroof). On 2/20, Tim, the salesman, came and offered me a contract to remove all the ice and snow from my whole roof for $700. It seemed high, but I felt the need to get something going, so I signed it and gave him a $350 deposit. Tim told me they probably could not get anyone out till Monday, 2/24. After he left I looked closer at the roof and realized there was no snow on the east side of the roof and the real problem was only in one of the 3 valleys on the west side. That night my wife and I discussed it and decided it was too much and we would use the 3 day right to cancel clause in the contract and seek a cheaper route. Tim did not point out this clause, I read the fine print. Surprisingly, the next morning, 2/21, Jodi, their office manager, called me around 9:00 to schedule the work for that day. I told her we wanted to cancel the contract unless they were willing to negotiate the price. She told me to call Tim. I immediately called him and had to leave a voice mail. 2.5 hours later, he left me a voice mail and said they could do just the one side of the house for the $350 deposit. In the meantime I had called Scandroli roofing and gotten a rough estimate to do the problem valley for about $150 on Saturday morning, 2/22.When I finally listened to Tim's message another 2 hours later, I called him back and left him a message about the Scandroli offer and told him we wanted to cancel completely. Five minutes later, Jodi called and told me the technician was on his way. I told her I had just left a message with Tim that we did not want their service. She got Tim out of a meeting, and he told me they would probably have to charge me something for "overhead" expenses. I said he should do whatever he thought was fair. On Monday morning, 2/24, I called their office to see what they were going to do. Jodi said that after my check cleared the bank, they would send me a check for the balance after subtracting $125 for "overhead" expenses. My wife and I were not happy. That night I went online and got a copy of the printed cancellation form that they should have attached to my contract. I signed it and got it ready to deliver to their office before the legal deadline, midnight of the third business day after I first signed the contract. On Tuesday morning, 2/25, I drove to their office and found out they are the asphalt shingle arm of a much larger roofing company, Renaissance Roofing. I met Jodi and she introduced me to Jason the boss (owner?). He told me he thought he had more than $125 into the project, citing gas and employee time as examples. However, he did ask me what I thought would be fair. I said $50. He wrote me a check and said he might even give me a $50 discount on future work.

+ -1 moreHad a roof leak and Charlie Brown of EconHome Expert Kanga Roof was able to fine and repair the leak. Inspected the roof for the source of the leak which include a very careful inspection of the whole roof area, and was able to determine that the roof vents were originally installed wrong. He removed the roof vents, reinstalled them with the correct flashing material and replaced some roofing material where a Direct TV dish had been taken off of the roof. Bottom line he fixed the leak in a timely manner.

+ -1 moreThe skylights look great, it only took a couple hours for them to do the job, cleanup was great. The only thing that was kind of frustrating was that the day they were scheduled to come, they said previously that they would be there in the afternoon. When 3pm rolled around, we still hadn't heard anything so I called. They got back to me about 4:30pm and said that they had to take care of an emergency so they couldn't make it that day. They were able to reschedule for the next day, but it would have been nice to get a phone call saying they wouldn't make it. Jodi in the office was very nice and helpful every time I called. I will be using them again for other work we need done!
Description of Work: We had a leaking roof, they came out and did an estimate and determined 2 skylights were leaking and causing the drywall to bubble. They came in to replace both of them. They also replaced a soft spot that was caused by the leaking skylights.

They showed up with a good-sized, hardworking crew and got the job done within 2 days. They cleaned everything up beautifully after themselves, spending at least 3-4 hours cleaning up after the job was done.

+ 0 moreIt went very well. They did more than they had to as we had messed up new roof shingles (another story) and they replaced 45 of them as a courtesy. We plan on hiring them when we reside the house. Soon!
Description of Work: They installed larger rain gutters on our old house and garage, redisigned their direction to compliment the architecture of the house while minimizing the issue of downspout extensions. Porch enhanced and looks as it should have. Nicely done. Leaf covers only where needed. Wish we had hired them when we bought the house years ago.

+ -1 moreFrom the initial interview with the inspector who gave us the appraisal , to the arrival of the materials And the arrival of the workmen.....everything went professionally and on time as promised. When the workmen arrived they went right to work, were very polite and explained what was Going to be done......and they cleaned up every scrap of old roofing, material and picked up all nails and scrap metal. All in all, this was a very satisfying experience with this company and I will certainly recommend this company to anyone who may need their services.
Description of Work: This was for removal of an old roof and installation of a new one. Inspection and estimate was done. The workmen arrived in a timely manner, did their job and cleaned up beautifully. Everything was done on time and done actually as described.

+ -1 moreI am happy with their services but their prices are sky high. I paid way too much for the roof. I have had to have them come back and redo some things. I am a widow and they knew it and I think they gouged me. They charged me $12,000 for a roof that probably shouldn't have been more than $7,000. Because of their pricing I would not use them again.

I have heard the commercials for this business brag them up,but how can one ever rate them if they never return your calls? Angry in Loves Park..2011 ..

+ -1 moreThey were very prompt and punctual and got the work done. What stood out about this company was that he came out in a very clean uniform with the name on the side. Just about everything about him was a step above. I think it was his presentation. We paid him half for the work he did. We arranged for me to do first the flat roof, that is the one with the hole in it. The rest of the roof is going in for a major replacement. They will also be doing that. I only paid them for the half of the flat roof. As for responsiveness they were certainly on time. They arranged to come out at the earliest convenience. They are not able to do the work for another month because they are so busy.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Ecohome expert Inc Kanga Roof. Several days ago they also sensed out to just patch the hole in the roof before they completely tear off and replace the roof.

+ 0 moreThe work itself was fine. The only problem I had was they said it was going to be kind of mess. I have an older home and there were four layers of roofing that needed to be taken off. Pieces of the roof came through the attic and 2 years later I am still cleaning it up. They didn’t inform me these pieces would be coming actually into the house. I wasn’t able to cover everything since I didn’t know that was going to happen. I also had them do some work on the chimney. The cap came off and it took four phones for them to finally come back and fix the cap. Everything was fine with the workers themselves; it was just the management that I had some issues with.

+ -1 moreOur initial contact was with John Green. You couldn't ask for a more pleasing person to work with. He was totally professional, prompt and kept us informed every step of the way. Because this was an insurance claim which I had never dealt with before, John was a very big help. Even our insurance adjuster commented on how great he was to work with! Every detail was explained to us, in depth and in terms we could easily understand. Once we contracted them to do the work, we were told that it would be approximately 2 weeks before the job began. In the meantime, some hungry raccoons decided to make a meal of a portion of our roof. Not knowing what to do, since they had eaten through to the rafters in a period of 2 evenings, I called John to see if they could patch it or something until the work began. Much to my surprise, he called back after checking with the owner and they moved our job up. In fact, they began it the next day. Everything went exactly as we were told. The workers were fantastic, friendly and as quiet as roofers could possibly be. I don't think I have EVER had such a wonderful experience working with contractors. One of the reasons I initially called them was because they are a green company and recycle everything. I was also impressed that the workers were uniformed and it was easy to tell they were part of the companyy That was a bonus in itself. Clean up was swift and thorough. For comparison, I must add that our neighbor also contracted roofers that started the day ours was complete. While Kangaroof had no effect on our dog and cat once they saw the workers were here with our permission, the neighbors contractors have been driving the animals (and me) nuts! Loud blaring radios, yelling back and forth to one another and just being overall obnoxious. There is absolutely no comparison in the professionalism! I LOVE Kanga Roof and will be referring all of my friends to them. They will be getting another call from us when it is time to re-side our home. If you want quality, kindess, courtesy and professionalism, they are definitely the way to go!!

Description of Work: Our 115+ year old roof was in dire straits. Leaking, rotting, totally missing plywood in areas. They stripped off the old roof, repaired rotting areas and replaced areas of missing plywood. These roofers came and corrected all the problems. and the roof hasn't leaked once. They did an outstanding job, were very professional and courteous. They could be a little better around landscaping. We had several damaged plants and trees.
