They were very responsive initially and we thought at the time that we were in a time crunch. We found them without looking on Angie's list and that was a huge mistake. SJN provided a contract without a price and never signed their "contract" nor did they sign Home Remodeling protection act brochure. - They are in Illinois, hard to believe they wouldn't either know or follow the law. Project ed 2 week project took 8 weeks and the work was never completed as agreed to. The management and the electrician must never speak because the electrician thought he would be done in less than a day - owner estimated 10 to us. Did one misguided days work, then it got worse. Didn't show up for days at a time then would show up for a few hours. Work that was suggested by the owner to us was omitted then was only partially completed, work that wasn't authorized was done. Somehow we couldn't believe a company could care as little as they did. Literally made 9 "when are you coming back" phone calls when we should have just fired them. After they disappeared from the unfinished project, we were billed more than 50% more than quoted. The workmanship would not pass 8th grade shop class and some was installed against National Electric Code - Examples an junction box feeding an an inside outlet that was not GFI protected. The really scary part is the box was left without a cover exposed to the outside and it was in a place no one would think to look. A light box supposed to be installed in the ceiling was left hanging from its wire. Truck says "Belleville Licensed" which would be a good thing if it was true. According to the City of Belleville, they had their license to practice in Belleville pulled and are facing scrutiny from the City Electrical commission for operating in the city without the license now years later based upon invoices submitted to the city. (See the November 2013 meeting minutes). By city ordinance they should not be doing work in the City of Belleville, which we found out afterword. In my opinion you would really have to try to get an F. You would do bad work, not do what you say, over charge and only care about getting paid. SJN meets that description. You could throw a dart at the Yellow pages and find companies that care and do good work. I think this outfit is horrible, ANYONE else would be a better choice.

Although they responded quickly they provided an estimate for $540.00. They also checked a ground problem with a TV connection. Upon completion the technician verified that the work done would be in accord with the estimate and that they would send a bill. On 8/5/13 we received a bill for $890.50. Added to the estimate were: Add a remote control box for the ceiling fan $90.00. This was identified during the original estimate of $540.00 Reconnect 3 GFI outlets $135.00 Troubleshoot and repair a ground problem with the Cable Box. This consisted of adding an adapter on the cable box plug. $180.00 When called they stated the cause of the GFI was a former occupant had duck taped a wire. We will never use this company again nor can I recommend them to anyone in the future. I feel that after the work was completed they over charged for it. If they had identified $450.00 additional work (almost double the estimate) it should of been identified prior to doing it.
Description of Work: Mounted a ceiling fan in one room, a ceiling light in another room and checked electrical circuit in the living room.
