I met Ron when I needed a handyman to remove and replace a bathroom vanity top and two faucets. He was recommended to me by a local realtor. At first I was impressed with the vanity top install, and I asked if he would take a look at my master bath as it needed a complete overhaul. After the vanity top work was done, I noticed very minor issues, like incorrectly installed door casing (the side splash butted up against the casing, and it's now misaligned by at least 1/2 inch) and a small tear in the sheet vinyl floor, caused by removing the same casing. I didn't say anything because I thought I was too picky. This lack of detail should have been a red flag, but I went ahead with hiring him for the master bath. He quoted the master bath work at $2500, and the agreement was that I would buy the items I wanted installed (toilet, vanity, shower, etc) and he would install it. I translated this to mean he would provide things like floor glue, silicone, etc, but it didn't.. This nickel and dimed me to death. Anyway, I liked our original agreement because I'm good at finding good deals. He and his worker gutted the bath and roughed in plumbing and shower stall before Christmas and the project was put on hold due to the holidays, and I was still making decisions and ordering finishes. In Jan, when work resumed, I asked that they again move the wall and plumbing since I didn't like the layout. This cost me an additional $200. When it came time to install the finishes is when I became less and less impressed.. I thought about firing them and should have. First, the sheet vinyl floor has bubbles and was cut too small by one wall, that cannot be covered by baseboards. The sub floor was poorly leveled in front of the toilet and is totally noticeable (I don't think they installed luan). The drywall has bows, and was so poorly mudded (no tape), and the texture job is so bad I want to cover it or take it all down. I wanted to build a cabinet for next to the vanity, and requested 15". They installed the vanity leaving me 14.5" and now I have to recut all of my plywood, and the cabinet door I custom ordered online is now too big for the space. To install the mirror, Ron drew a level line on the wall with a sharpie, and still didn't level the mirror.. And I cannot cover the sharpie line! Now for the worst part: the shower kit I ordered is terrible quality, and if Ron had showed this to me before the install I would have returned it; instead he showed this to me after the base was installed and negated any chance of return. They siliconed all the joints, to help cover the bad manufacturing, and it's a mess. Less than two months after work completed, the brand new shower developed a water leak in the wall and I cannot use the bathroom until it's fixed. I've had plumbers look at the problem and the shower insert has to be removed so that they can get proper access to the problem. The entire experience was a huge waste of money! I would have been better off just leaving the original bathroom in place. Now I'm searching for someone else to either fix or redo the bath, as I'll never invite this company to work on my home again.
