STOP! Read this! You will Thank me! I wish there were something less than "F". I try not to post bad reviews because everyone has a bad day now and then but this was different. In March of 2016 I hired CORD Moving to move my home. They have a great salesman Cory Loeffier who I must say is actually great. He was the only positive part of my experience and unfortunately does not have the power to control the practices of the field staff or management. My experience was so bad I will list "JUST A FEW" bullet points in an effort to keep this review somewhat short. Should you want details please look me up on Facebook and I would be happy to give you enough details about my experience to keep you looking for a quality company that does what they say, takes care of your stuff, and is professional. High (low) Points: *Moving team were very unprofessional and extremely SLOW. *Didn't move me out of my old house on time and I got calls from the new owners to get out because we were in violation of our contract. We had a day and a half to get out of the old house. Seems like a reasonable amount of time to load up to me. *I had to not only work alongside their movers the entire time for 2 days but I actually out worked them. There was no sense of urgency or care on behalf of Cord Moving. *Even though they visited my house prior they brought to old small rental trucks that were so beat up one of them broke down and I had to give it a boost just to get it out of the driveway. The trucks were so small we had to make multiple trips wasting time. *The trucks were so small I had to use my truck and my wife's car to load up stuff in an effort to get out of the old house before the new owners got there. (We didn't make it in time) *They damaged 5 pieces of my furniture and hid it from me. I didn't find it until the day after they left because I spent all of my time working with them instead of watching them. *At the new house my new neighbor came over and said he had been watching and commented on how lazy they were and offered to help. I let him. How does that sound for a first impression! *After all of this they billed my credit card for more than the quoted amount without telling me. When I asked about it and they said it was "Overtime". I tried to explain that the overtime was because the crews were lazy and let me do so much of the work, their truck broke down, and they did nothing to keep their people on task even when I called the office to voice my concerns twice during the actual move process. I even bought lunch for the guys to try and get them to work faster. These are the very short condensed versions. Its much much worse than the notes above cover. I have used moving companies in the past and never experienced anything on this level of what I can only call abuse and outright lies to their service, promise, and ethics. I am sure they have a version of this experience but who knows what BS it would be because they refused to ever speak with me about the issue. Poor Cory was left trying to fix the issue with unscrupulous management and incompetent mover staff. RUN AWAY from these guys at all cost.
Description of Work: Local move for 4200sqft home. Distance between houses was less than 5 miles All items were prepacked and stacked in garage for loading Only items in home were bulk furniture. Beds were broken down for movers as well

They were great - I asked a lot of questions and they never hesitated to be honest and respectful of my concerns. I was very nervous about the whole thing. It's tough to watch your stuff being carted away, and even though they offered insurance, I packed it myself, so most damage would not have been covered. Since I paid with credit card, they charged 10% over the estimate, they estimated 50% more weight and they charged me for a shuttle I didn't end up using; BUT the expected credit was completed in about 6 weeks. The end price was fair. The only thing that went wrong was that the mover most likely cracked a stained-glass window in my building. Since I didn't notice it while he was still there, I could not prove he did it, so Cord would not pay for it. Also, I think if there were two men unloading, it would not have happened. Just a lesson learned for next time.
Description of Work: They moved approx 100 boxes (lots of books and files, kitchen and clothes, so pretty heavy) and some furniture from a storage locker in St. Louis to Chicago. Two men to wrap, pack and load the truck in St. Louis and one to unload in Chicago.
