Glen and his team performed very well. Glen was responsive and acoomodating to our requests. Glen did as he said he would do and remained willing to follow up throughout and after the job. Qualtiy of the work seems good after one year

Contractor/Owner was very accommodating to schedule a visit to quote work. After given the go ahead on the job, he worked to get all permits and interfaced with DuPage County and Milton Township to define required job details. Once the permit was issued, work started immediately. At this point the entire crew really showed their skill and professionalism. The work was carried out in a well coordinated and efficient manner. For example, when the township required an expectedly huge drain culvert, there were no issues. The appropriate culvert was here the next day. They did all the big stuff very well, showing lots of experience. The entire crew, not just the owner, made sure each step of the way was done well. But also the little stuff was done well. A couple of examples: When they parked their trucks, they made sure to put out safety cones and chocked the wheels. At the end of each work day they made sure to pick up the work site and pressure wash the street. The street was cleaner each day than when they started. The entire job went very well. I am very pleased with the final product as well as the work along the way. The price was competitive for just the driveway, but the extras really added to the value. Taking care of the permits, cleaning up every day, and the new dirt with grading really added. In effect, this was a "turnkey" job at a good price.

I don't know how we lived with it the way it was for so long - had fear of damaging surroundng area and addng lots of $ to fix this problem (a real tripping danger). Cannot say enough great things about Glen and crew.......... Neat - Proffessional - Friendly........ Glen returned all calls, was promt with appointments and personally was there to oversee all stages of project. I will definitely refer him to others and use him for any future projects !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We found Glen on Angie's list and called him in for an estimate on extending our existing patio. He was very helpful and came up with a layout based on our description of what we were looking for. The finished product was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. Glen's team was very polite and professional and completed the job on time as promised. We plan to have him back in the future to put in a sidewalk on the side of our house. We would definitely recommend Glen Galis Concrete!

Glen did an outstanding job. I've had work done by him before, and he is very good at talking with you in advance to firm up exactly how you want things done, with excellent (but not pushy) suggestions. He explained, for instance, how using "chert free" aggregate would avoid pitting and popping out of stones, the difference between using a true 6 bag mix and an "equivalent" mix, and how a different sealer would be recommended if we had decided to have a stamped/imprinted drive. He also scheduled around our optimum time to move an iris bed planted along the old drive. He handled the permit and approval process with the city. His crew worked quickly and efficiently to remove the old drive one day, and then complete 2 pours (the drive and the approach) another day, and the third pour (the public walk), the following day. They were careful (covering the brick on the garage with plastic, for instance, in case some concrete splashed against it) and neat, with just minimal disruption of the lawn next to the drive, for instance. Their workmanship is excellent, with well shaped edges and joints, and just a very lightly brushed finish, as we requested. In addition, they paid particular attention to the details of how the new work met up with the existing structure. The old drive had sunk some, and when they lined the new drive up to be even with the garage floor, it wouldn't match the level of an existing concrete ledge along the porch. But instead of just leaving a squared off step, they raised the old concrete ledge to match the new level, and curved the new concrete to align with the ledge. After cleaning everything up and sealing the drive, they finished by filling in what had been dug out with fresh black dirt and seeding it with grass seed.

Dont bother with this company. They NEVER respond, period. I emailed them 08/19/2012 at 9:09 am for a quote, never got a response back. Then on 08/21/2012 at 4:13 pm I left a voice mail message, never responded. They must be way too busy and making too much money to respond to my request to replace my driveway and front stoop.

-- On 7/26, I had an appointment with Glen, but he called that afternoon to cancel. We rescheduled for 7/30. The meeting went well & Glen seemed sincere. -- On 8/6, a week had passed & I hadn?t received an estimate. I called Glen & he said I would have it that day. -- On Monday, 8/13 I called to advise that I wanted to proceed with the repair job of the house cement slab. He agreed to come that day to mark the 25? section of the house, so there was no confusion on where the repair would start and end. He said the job could be done the next week. -- Today is 8/20 and Glen still has not marked the concrete and has not called to explain the delay. Due to the delays in waiting for the estimate & now waiting for the concrete to be marked so the work can begin, I?m not comfortable moving forward with Glen. We all have busy schedules and this wasn't an effective use of my time.

The quality of work was outstanding. They covered the items on the garage shelves so that they would not get dusty. They also taped off the door to the house so that no dust got in. The garage floor is now properly sloped so that water will not collect in the corners. Glen adjusted the garage door opener because the new floor is higher than the sunken floor it replaced. The driveway and sidewalks look great. The sidewalk was nicely curved and flared out to meet the driveway. Our neighbors are envious and a couple of them asked for quotes based on the work they saw. They also backfilled with black dirt. As they left, they even brought our empty trash can in from the street!

Glen was quick with the estimate and even faster at getting the job done. The work was done professionally from start to finish. Our driveway has never looked so nice.

He didn’t give me a quote. I told him where I lived, and he said he was a little more than an hour away, and given the fuel costs, he wasn’t interested even though it sounded like a pretty good job. He did call me back promptly, and I was pleased about that because someone else never called me back. I asked him, since he was being straight up with me about being too far away, whether he knew of any other vendors or contractors who might be closer to me who he could recommend. He told me that he could, and would call me back, but he didn’t. That was the extent of my contact with him. He called back, and he was honest and frank, so I was appreciative of that fact. He was responsive, and he called back quickly. If he was willing to come to my house, I think I would be certainly willing to have him come and give me a quote and see what he has to say.

i only wish i had hired glen for the stoop and sidewalk i had done last year and when i have to replace it (which i will since it's cracking already). In the middle of what i'm sure were more lucrative jobs, he took the time to have his employee come and power wash and blow dry the concrete (and i have a lot of concrete!) and then seal it and toward the end Glen was in there helping with the sealing. Cannot say enough great things about him or his company

Highly recommend. Quality work. Glen fulfilled all our requests. He was knowledgeable about our city requirements and efficiently handled all approvals and permits. He has an excellent rapport with his great crew and was there each day, all day, until completion. It was clear Glen takes great pride in his work and we are very pleased with the results. Our driveway and connecting walkway look great!. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Unfortunately, it did not go quite as well as I expected. Although I repeatedly stressed that the most important factor was preserving head room under the deck, the level was raised approximately 8 - 10 inches, reducing the available headroom to about 4-1/2 feet and significantly reducing the useability of the area. While I recognize that the yard sloped, there were options that unfortunately didn't get used. Additionally, communications were not as good as they could have been. I kept stressing the need to retain headroom -- Glen kept stressing the slope. The obvious solution, now that it is too late, would have been pouring one slab up next to the house and a second lower slab where the gate to the underdeck space was -- with a step down on the patio part. When discussing it afterwards, I felt that I was blamed for not recognizing how high the result was going to be -- because the work went over the weekend (concrete pour was on Monday). However, I am NOT a concrete expert, the area was roped off, and I had no way of knowing that the slab was going to be much deeper than what I was originally told (in one place, it is over 15" deep; I was told the slab would be 4" -- that's a lot of difference.) The patio area is very nice looking. Unfortunately, my primary aim was to be able to use the under deck area for storage. Because of the severely limited headroom, I'm no longer sure that's possible. This has left me feeling that I wasted my money.

The quality of work performed by Glen Galis Concrete was OUTSTANDING! I conducted extensive research and interviewed 8 contractors prior to selecting Glen Galis for the job. He is very professional, familiar with Naperville rules and regulations, and was willing to obtain the permit for me, pay the fees, provide proof of insurance, and bring in dirt for landscaping, where other contractors were not. Based on his extensive experience, he provided us with valuable advice, and spent lots of time answering our questions to make sure our needs were met. The quality of his materials and the process he uses is OUTSTANDING. Many of his competitors cut corners or use sub-standard materials. This multi-generation family business has an excellent reputation, and they take great pride in providing you with quality work. The little extras Glen and his crew provided (at no extra charge) were unbelievable. For example, he ran pipes underground for electrical extension cords to pass through, to ensure safety in the walk areas during the holidays. He artistically curved the walkways, made modifications to the sprinkler system, meticulously edged and lined the concrete, filled and graded the low areas in my front yard. He also came out on very short notice to repair and cosmetically hide where a neighborhood dog had walked across my walkway when the cement was wet.

From start to finish, this was one of the most complete and professional jobs I have ever had done. His crew was a well oiled machine. Hard workers who knew exactly what had to be done. With perfection as their ultimate goal!! If you want it done right,call Glen Galis.

They haven’t done any work yet. Their quote was about $4500. We are going to look at a couple more quotes. We haven’t started because we decided to get our roof done first. They were fine. The guy who came out took the measurements and gave me an estimate.

They seemed to be okay. They are professional and punctual. I am not going with them though.

The estimate was the most complete we received of 5 vendors, specifying all steps including driveway repair. Price was in the middle but appropriate. My only mild issue was the job was started a couple of weeks after estimated start. However the level of professionalism and workmanship was outstanding. They paid attention to detail. Careful excavation and removal. Very solid footer. Plenty of rebar. Tied in wall to foundation well. They cleaned up the job site each night. Very attentive to our requests. Applied attractive sealer coat as finishing step.

After some initial troubles in the communication department, Glen came to my home for an estimate for a concrete patio. He was very apologetic for the previous problems and proved to me that he was indeed concerned with customer satisfaction. Glen was professional and personable. He explained to me all the steps they would take and responded to all of my questions. In the end, we have put the project on the back burner and Glen was accepting of that and did not try a "hard sell". Many contractors wanted nothing to do with the job because it was "to small" and just quoted me their "minimum price". Glen never once said anything about the size of the job and his price was below everyone else's minimum. When we do decide to do this project, the first call I make will be to Glen.

We had an excellent experience with this contractor. Glen Galis returned my initial phone call the same day, asked for an idea of what type of work I needed and made an appointment to come over. We talked through the work and he emailed a proposal within the week which included all the items we had discussed. I asked for (and received) an Angie's List discount. We were able to provide a copy of our plat of survey (required by our town for a permit) for Glen and he proceeded to request the permits. We wanted the work completed by a specific date in June prior to a family gathering and he was confident that could be accomplished. He let us know on a Friday that he could schedule the work to begin the following Monday and fortunately the weather cooperated. A large and experienced crew worked diligently along with Glen on the project. The first day they removed the old driveway and walk and created the appropriate foundation. Glen called the city inspector and stopped back lat in the day to check that they were able to go ahead the following day. They poured the driveway and walk the next day. Glen incorporated my ideas for the shape of our new walk and made some additional suggestions which turned out great. He checked in with me every step of the way and answered all my questions. After the concrete pour was complete, it was apparent that the grade of our front yard was much lower on one side (the old drive was sunken and badly cracked) and since the new drive was level and properly graded we needed to correct the grade of the yard. Glen offered to have his crew bring in a load of dirt the following day when they returned to pull the concrete forms and have them spread it to re-grade the lawn area for a reasonable additional cost. I chose to go ahead with that option and they did a good job and also spread grass seed on the new areas. They left a barrier at the end of the driveway and picked it up a week later. I received a receipt by email after payment--I really appreciate having the option to communicate electronically. It was apparent that Glen was knowledgeable and experienced and very hands on with his business. I felt he was honest, conscientious and really cared about producing a good result. I have rarely had such a universally good experience with a contractor and the finished work looks great. I highly recommend this company.

He was a wonderful man and I would have used him. However, because of my financial situation I couldn?t do the work. He was local and was quick on getting here. He was on time for his appointment and was very knowledgeable as far as cement and the type of cements and things.

Glen did an outstanding job! The original sidewalk had sunk so as to slope toward the house, creating a drainage problem. Glen was very helpful in defining just what we wanted done (such as how much slope is reasonable, whether we still wanted the low garden step, how the downspout could be changed, and how much sidewalk to replace) and informative (about the pros and cons of rebar, the advantage of specifying dirt-free gravel in the mix, and the necessity to seal the new concrete). In doing the work, Glen's crew worked quickly and efficiently to break up and remove the old concrete with a minimum of disruption to the yard. They used wheel barrows to bring the concrete from the street, instead of driving the cement truck up onto the lawn. They completed everything in one day, except for removing the forms and spraying the sealer, which they completed the next morning. They filled the dirt back in evenly and cleaned up completely after themselves.

Excellence work! The final front stoop, front sidewalk of our house and the service sidewalk (by the side of the house) were rebuilt with stamped concrete. They are beautiful and we've had several people (and strangers who drove by) comment on how nice they look. We are pleased with the stamped concrete option we choose. Glen's team was thorough and quick. Their attention to details were high, the craftsmanship solid. Glen was really good at listening to all our concerns, patient with our requests and respectful.
