Glen was extremely professional to deal with. You always got the sense when meeting with him that he was interested in our business and wanted to collaborate with us on developing the right solution for our needs. We met with other contractors and he stood out because of his thoughtful approach and his responsiveness. We had a walkway that was sinking and he recommended rebar stabilized by the foundation of the house to reinforce it. In addition he devised a very creative way to widen the walkway by the porch and added an additional step to make it much easier and more welcoming as you approach our front door. I was amazed at the attention to detail of both Glen and his crew. Glen also was quite good at communicating expectations as they went through the various phases of the work. They were very respectful of our property and always took the time to clean up their work area. It was a pleasure to have them working at our house. They also did the driveway of one of my neighbors at the same time. I would definitely recommend Glen to others!

Glen Galis was wonderful to work with. His was not the least expensive estimate we received, but it was competitive and I decided to go with him because of his professionalism and responsiveness. in the end, I am so happy that we decided to use him. He was a little bit backed up with work, so our job was to be a couple weeks out and he kept me informed of their progress and worked with me to find good days to schedule in our work. Glen and his team removed our existing driveway and prepped the additional area to be paved on the first day. They had to come back another day to finish prepping and cut the curb. Glen dealt with our village hall to secure all permits as well. On the third day they came to pour the concrete. After the concrete was poured and finished, he also came back to fill in empty spots with dirt and seeded for new grass. His work has made a huge difference in the functionality and look of the front of our house. Everything was done with an eye for detail. Additionally, both Glen and his dad (who was working with him on this job) were incredibly kind to my two little boys who were totally fascinated with the equipment that they used and also made sure that I knew when the concrete truck was coming so that I could make sure the boys were here to see. Above and beyond the level of service I expected! Thank you Glen!

We contacted 4 contractors for this job and my wife and I agreed that Glen seemed the most open to our ideas and added creativity of his own. The estimate was not the least expensive, but, thoroughly explained what would be done. Start date was delayed due to weather issues for preceding projects, not much can be done about that. Glen did contact us as delays occurred helping to manage expectations. Ultimately, we are sure that Glen was absolutely the right choice! We couldn't be happier with the way the work went, the crew was friendly and a pleasure to be around, and the results are incredible! Glen also coordinated scheduling with a landscaper on our behalf, as we also needed extensive retaining walls along side the new drive. As work progressed, Glen helped us to imagine several modifications to our initial plan that have created a stunning new look for the front of our home. I would definitely recommend Glen to anyone needing similar work. (And, by the way, concrete may be a bit more expensive than blacktop, but is absolutely worth every penny).

I can't begin to explain what a relief it is to find a contractor that actually does what they say they are going to.....and exceeds my expectations. I have had a lot of work done to my property in the past couple of years (six figures) and this is the only one where everything was perfect. The crew showed up when I was told they would each day. They were all very friendly and respectful of me and my property. They work very efficiently; you can tell everybody in the crew knows what they are doing. It was in the mid 90's but that didn't seem to slow them down. Removal and set-up took place the first day (with city inspection at the end of the first day); concrete was poured the next morning (city walk in the afternoon) and they came to finish up the third day, so everything went smoothly. The exceptional part of this experience is the extra care they take with your property. They actually power washed the street to remove the minimal dust left by the removal. They wanted to have the garage door open when pouring the driveway for logistics reasons and they covered my "good" car with plastic as a precaution. On the third day they came back and replaced the previously removed sod along the driveway - exactly where it came from - you could tell! They also heavily seeded a small area where grass didn't exist before. After the final power washing everything looks beautiful, the transitions from street to driveway to garage are nice and smooth and other than the grass looking dry (unavoidable in the heat) and a new driveway, you would never know they were here. I have seen nearby driveways done by other contractors who leave the property looking destroyed. I didn't even get any other estimates, based on the reviews I had seen here. I know it's risky to do that but I don't regret it at all.

Glen and his crew were the best. The crew was always on time for the three days that they work at our house. Day one, they removed the drive, walk and stoop and hauled all away. Then formed the driveway. Day two, framed stoop and walk, and poured 2/3 of drive and stoop, day three finished the job. Glen made sure he had enough help during all the pours and they did an excellent job with the "California finish". Every day ended with complete clean up of site, including road. They even landscaped with top soil and seed. We are thrilled with the finished job! We can recommend Glen Galis Concrete to anyone.

The sidewalk to the porch was sinking and Glen said all that was needed was an additional step. The work was done quickly and looked original. Excellent work and was very happy with the results.

Glen Galis and his professional team met or exceeded expectations from beginning to end. The schedule was estimated, and all permits were filed, as well as underground services marking. Better estimate of date was set based on weather prediction, and they started as planned with one week notice. Very careful digging and removal was essential for a very clean job. Minimal disturbance of sod, and after all was done, the work edges were almost invisible in just two days. These guys work great as a team, and the owner works manually as hard as any of them. Attention to detail is their strong suit, and efficient work is too. The delivery of concrete was on time, and exactly as ordered - no waste, no shortage. This crew of eight were all working, all the time. Two and a half days to complete everything - amazing! A huge list of references were provided before the job, and I'm convinced this was not just a hand picked list, but truly represented the full range of capability, from most complex job to very basic. They all looked nice, and customers were very satisfied. You can find slightly lower costs, but don't be fooled. These guys are worth a few extra dollars.

Glenn Galis came out and inspected the area for the walkway and gave us an estimate on the cost and approximate time they would be available to do the work. The area for the walkway was not accessible for the cement truck so that they planned to haul the cement by wheel barrel from the front driveway around to the back where the walkway was being installed. Mr. Galis kept us informed about when they would be able to do the work and came as expected. They laid the forms on the first day and placed the gravel and rebar in place, poured the cement the 2nd day, and removed the forms on the third day. The outline for the walkway was precisely squarely measured, fitting in well with the height of the door aprons and the well house. They dug out the area for the walkway with precision and hauled the dirt to an area we specified. For future access, they placed PVC pipes cut to length in the bottom of the dug out area next to telephone and cable service cables. They carefully placed the gravel as specified to a minimum 4" base and compacted it well. Then, they cut and fit the #3 rebar on top the gravel. They added value to their service by giving us the option of using underground drainage from a downspout, which we had not thought about doing. We declined the offer but appreciated their telling us what could be done. They quickly and expertly poured the concrete* on the 2nd Day, evenly into the trench, with no spillage outside the trench. They smoothed the concrete with expertise, and then Mr. Galis applied a finishing top edge along with the grooves along the surface. In addition, they used a broom-like tool to slightly abrade the surface for an anti-slip quality. On the third day, they removed the forms, carefully filled in the edges of the walkway with the best soil that had been dug out, and carefully reinstalled the tile edging pieces by the door aprons and well house. The area was left clean and orderly. The members of the team were professional and pleasant and showed great expertise. The new walkway cement has dried to a beautiful light color, with a rounded, decorative edge. We are very pleased with the result. We would highly recommend their services to others. *Concrete was a non compensated 6 bag mix with a water reducing agent and air entrainment 4" thick. This is a private residence and not a business.

I called Damico Paving on May 13 to request an inspection of the sunken and cracked area in front of my three car garage. Brad called next day to confirm May 15 for visit. He recommended that we remove the old asphalt and replace subsurface stone as needed, saw cut edge of old pavement and then install new asphalt. He also recommended that after installation was complete that we should have sealer applied to entire driveway. We accepted his estimate of $1400 for this work. His written estimate of the work exceeds Geneva village standard for asphalt repair. Brad called May 24th to confirm that the work would be done May 30th, weather permitting. Brad visited on May 30th to confirm that the work was to be done that afternoon and left a written copy what we should expect to see and how we should not drive our cars on the repair area for 4 day. Luis and his crew arrived within 15mins of the expected time of 2PM, explained what was going to be done. Safety cones were setup, equipment off loaded from trailer. Old asphalt was removed with a pickaxe and front loader. The men were very careful around the siding and fence near the repair area. There was some new stone added, rolled and made ready for the new asphalt. A saw cut was made to give a straight edge and a very finished appearance. Luis asked that we close the garage door and windows due to blowing dust from the cutting. The fresh asphalt was VERY HOT and the crew worked quickly to fill in the repair area. They rolled and hand tamped the repair. A very experienced team that worked together to get the job done. All the old asphalt was cleaned up from work area. Job was done by 4PM. The patch looks GREAT and surface has just the right slope so no water collects in front of the garage door like it used to before the repair.

My job was a small one. The landing to my exterior basement steps was below the grade of the driveway causing heavy rain water to collect and go down the basement stairs. Glen and his team created a landing (creating an extra basement step) which was pitched properly such that water cannot towards the house. They also created a curb along the driveway which directs the water down the driveway towards the street and away from the house. It looks great. I am very pleased. Some contractors would not take a small job. Glen's price was better than others. His staff was great.

Couldn't ask for better service than was done. Crew showed up on time and worked entire day to take out old driveway and sidewalk They also framed and poured the cement all in the same day. Next day was the apron and curb. Was very impressed when they power washed the street and walkway that was not replace.

I couldn't be more pleased with the solution Glen and his team provided to my long-standing garage flooding problem. They installed an underground drainage system on both sides of my garage where water always seeped in. This included a new apron with a line of drainage grills to aborb driveway runoff into the drain tile. On the other side, the team installed a gravel-based system that connected to a seperate underground drain tile. On top of that, beautiful concrete work was poured consisting of both the new apron and a sidewalk to the service door, all accurately angled to properly drain into the new drainage system. Glen and his team are the most professional service providers I've ever encountered. The work they provided was of incredible high quality with extreme attention to every detail. Glen himself is a pleasure to work with and know. He and his team were on time, made sure everything was correct and to my satisfaction, and came back the next day to finish the details of the work. Glen even returned the following week to make sure everything looked good and was correct. I can't say how happy I am with the results and to have found Glen Galis Concrete Contractor. Glen's father even came over to assist, and along with Glen, he was a pleasure to know and share information with about the job. Glen's team were also extremely professional and motivated in their enthusiasm and quality of work. Highest praise and kudos to Glen.

I was extremely impressed with Glen from start to finish. He was there when he said that he would be, explained what he would do and why. His contract was professionally and ethically done, giving a detailed description of the work to be done, the materials to be used, and listing everything that was included in the contract price. On the day of the work, he was there on time, setting up, and stayed through some rough weather to complete the job and make sure that the work was protected. All of his workers were fantastic. Everything was well done, making sure that there was no damage to the property and that the area was left perfectly cleaned up. I don't recommend service people easily but I would recommend Glen at any time. A+

We had Glen come out and estimate our job in Sept 2012. He listened to our concerns, educated us on why our 30-yr-old drive was now starting to sink, what a new driveway would entail and why, helped us envision the new shape we wanted for our drive and gave us referral addresses to look at some of his work. We gave him our email address and he sent us a very detailed estimate. I like that! We had a few companies come out to give us estimates. One gave us an estimate on the spot, one called later with just a flat cost (no breakdown of the charges.) Glen's estimate was not the least expensive, but it was not the most expensive. His professionalism and attention to detail got him the job. The company had an opening about a week later to start. Glen handled all the permits. They broke-up and removed the old driveway quickly. We didn't have to worry about damage to the sidewalk in-between the main driveway and the skirt of the driveway (both being replaced) because those sidewalk squares were being replaced as well - they were torn out with the rest of it. Either Glen or his father (also in the business) were on-site every day. The weather cooperated thru most of the process. On the day of the pour, there was rain scheduled for late in the day. Glen's team had the driveway and skirt poured and sealed before the rain started, but apparently the skirt of the driveway, the last to be poured, was not done in time; when I went out the next morning, the skirt was all pock-marked and flaky from the rain. The workers had just arrived before I left for work. They were going to remove the forms and I didnt know if Glen was expected to be on-site. I pointed out the skirt's damage and was told that Glen would be called and it would be fixed. Honestly, I was almost sick all day worrying about it, as the rest of the driveway was beautiful and I didnt know if they would just try to patch the skirt. When I came home, Glen's father was on-site and they had pulled out the entire skirt and re-poured it! I was so happy! Part of the clean-up included back-filling the edges or the driveway with soil and grass seed (to replace what was torn up by setting the forms in place) - awesome! Part of the new drive and stoop-step included routing some downspouts thru the concrete, underground and installing some pop-ups in the lawn. Those were done beautifully. A small section around the downspout (just a few square inches) in the stoop-step was missing some concrete. A quick call and Glen stopped by the next day to fill that in. Overall - a beautiful job!

Glen responded quickly to my call and was ontime for our estimate. He provided ideas for redesigning the sidewalk and answered all of our questions about how to improve/reinforce the porch to prevent future cracking. He also offered to put a pipe under the sidewalk in which the gutter would drain to prevent more settling. We got 2 concrete estimates and two paver stone estimates. At the time we did not feel we could afford the paver stone option and the concrete would still need to be fixed first because it was falling in. Glen was very knowledgable, offered the lower of the two prices, he is a local company, had good reviews on line and the City planning office said they worked with him a lot so I was comfortable choosing him. Glen worked us into the schedule right before winter frosts when they would no longer be able to do the work. He showed up and did all of the removal, reinforcement and pouring in one day. He came back the second day to repair the grass/seed, remove the supports and clean up. Clean up was good. There was only a little cement dust stuck to the bushes, no big deal. No damage to the grass or bushes other than where they moved the sidewalk and that was expected. The only minor thing was that where the cement met the supports there were some thin edges of concrete (what was up against the support). We chipped these little bits off and then it was all smooth. This was very minor. Glen did not require a deposit and we paid him on the day of completion. We are very satisfied with his work, he was plesant to work with and we would recommend him in the future. We have received many complements on how much better the front of the house looks with the new porch/sidewalk.

Glen and his crew were professional and friendly. Glen explained all of the various options, patiently answered our questions and gave pertinent pricing. The work that they performed was very quick once they got started and we were on our new patio just a few days after work began. It looks great and more than met our expectations.

Contacted three separate companies to bid on the project. All three gave prices that were withing with a 15% of each other. All had good references. All were willing to work with to explain how they would approach the job. Selected Glen Galis because he had done driveways in my neighborhood that were the same as mine. I was very concerned about the way the expansion joints would layout on the drive as it is a large trapizoid shaped drive covering the front of the house with the garage on the right. Glen worked with me to get a layout that was visually appealing without sacrificing the integrity of the driveway. When I took him to a couple of drives in my neighborhood he assured me the dirveway he would install look better then either drive. The crew arrived as scheduled. Worked was performed over the course of four days without any interruption. Glen was right. The results were outstanding in everyway. He takes pride in his work. I feel he dealt with me in a completely professional and fair way. It has been four months and not a single class crack has appeared. I cannot recommend Glen and his company more highly.

Glen and his crew exceeded our expectations. They addressed every detail, solved additional issues, stayed within the original estimate and timeframe, and wouldn't leave until the job was done right and perfectly. They carefully protected shrubs and plants next to the work area and left a neat work area each day. They were polite, easy to communicate with, and knowledgeable. Glen was meticulous in getting our sidewalk to rise gradually just right so that it met the front stoop at the proper height whereas before the landing was far too high above the sidewalk. When he could see the new sidewalk's required edge height would be inches taller than the grass next to it, he offered to bring in new, black, rich dirt to fill and raise that area evenly on both sides. He went the extra step to locate a nearby sod company - when in November usually all were closed - to purchase on his own for us, deliver, and install. When asked to bring along extra dirt for a landscaping project I suddenly began next to the worksite, he agreeably complied. His crew even helped me wrestle out a stubborn Euonymous root ball or two. The price he charged for the additional dirt/sod I requested was very reasonable - a good deal. Glen is an amazing professional that truly cares about his craftmanship, customer satisfaction, and integrity. I got the rare impression that he cares for our home about as much as we do. I could not recommend him more highly. We will definitely refer him to friends, and I am so grateful to have found him on Angie's List! It made my subscription completely worthwhile. Thanks for our beautiful new front porch, sidewalk, and back stoop, Glen!!!

Overall, the job went well. Glen is a very kind nice man, and very professional. The job was performed in a timely matter. The stoop and side walk were poured well. However, upon drying, the concrete is a grey color and our adjoining sidewalk is a white/cream color. We called Glen to about the color, and he said to water it and the sun on a bright day might bleach or lighten it. It has been a little over a month and the color is still a dark grey. So Glen has offered to come and put something on it to tint or lighten the color of the concrete. We have to schedule that. Other than the color of the concrete, we are pleased with the work and his professional service.

Took a few days to make direct contact with the contractor because we called the home office number and they were busy out on a few jobs in the area. Once the original visit was made and a quote given - project started moved along. A couple of days passed between the request and getting Geneva's approval for the building permit. Then it was full speed ahead! The owner and an experienced crew showed up over the next few days - fast quick - efficient and a work of art. All waste removal and thorough cleanup was taken care of. We are very happy with the results.

We called Glen and left a message. Glen called us back promptly and set up a time with us to discuss what we wanted done. He came out when promised and emailed an estimate the next day. We agreed to the estimate. Glen contacted the city within a couple days to get the permit going. He called "JULIE" before beginning work. Glen kept us informed of when he would be starting. Once thework began Glen and his crew came promptly until it was completed. I was impressed by how well organized they were, how well they cleaned up when done, and with the quality of the work.

Our experience with Glen Galis was tremendous - we highly recommend him. We called alot of contractors for quotes, but only seriously considered a few of them who gave us references in our area. Glen was great about this - he gave alot of references of differing ages for us to look at. All of them (even the 10-year old one) looked great. Glen's quote was slighly higher than others, but based on the apparent quality of his work and our face-to-face meeting with him we decided to have him do our driveway. We are very happy we did. Glen took care of the permits and everything - it was a very easy experience for us. He and his crew came on the day they scheduled, and got the work done quickly and with very little mess. They even hosed off our street after they were done! The quality of the work was outstanding - Glen takes alot of pride in his work makes sure it's done well. His crew finished the concrete with alot of care and attention to detail so our driveway looks fantastic. We were particularly impressed with his willingness to take our suggestions and even improve on them. When we said we wanted to do something with the walkway, he designed a nice curving walkway for us that was exactly what we wanted but couldn't quite articulate. It really makes the driveway look nice. You can contract with Glen with no worries - he will do a great job for you.
