Concrete By Sennstrom

He called on the same day I left a message. He asked me if I had made a decision on a concrete drive. I told him I hadn't because I hadn't had any estimates yet. He told me that an asphalt drive might cost $2500, but a concrete drive might cost $5000. He asked if I was going to commit to a concrete drive. I asked him why he wanted to know before he even looked at my drive, he said because it would take up 2 1/2 hours of his time to give me an estimate, and he didn't want to waste his time if I wasn't sure I wanted a concrete drive. I thanked him for his call and hung up. Strangest call I've ever had. Business must be good.

Never heard back from them!

We talked to several contractors to get estimates and ideas to replace our 25+ year old asphalt driveway with a plain white concrete one. Many looked good but Tom suggested we look at a couple he did with exposed aggregate a few years ago if we wanted something a little nicer than the plain bright white finish. We were impressed with what we saw and went ahead with the exposed aggregate -- Tom and his crew did a very nice job. I highly recommend them.

I liked everything about them. They were responsive. They did great quality work. Tom told me he would be here every step of the way and supervising the job.

They showed up when they said, the guys were professional, they did excellent work. I run my own company and I would still give them a 10 out of 10. If you need this work to be done this is 100% the company you should call. Slightly higher priced (although fair) but when the work is done you feel like you got what you paid for.

Tom was very helpful about what could be done to improve the sidewalk approach and step to the stoop and the results are functionally outstanding. Although brick pavers are not a part of Concrete by Sennstroms specialty, they did a nice job in adjusting the pavers to an adjacent walkway. As with a previous review, Concrete by Sennstrom was not the lowest quote. The decision to use them was based on how well I sensed Tom understood my needs and was prepared to meet them. The crew was polite and professional. If the company Logo stamped at the end of the driveway means anything, it should mean that, like the old Zenith commercial, Tom is proud of his companies work and will stand behind it.

Tom came out on schedule and spent some time with my wife and me, going over our options. He was very professional in answering all our questions; though he did not spend as much time with us as others we had out for estimates. Did not go with Tom as my wife and I decided to do pavers instead.

Called twice in two different weeks. Left voice mails. Absolutely no response whatsoever after several days. Guess he has all the business he wants. He is not getting mine! Contrary to what was stated he never called here. Why would I go to the trouble to ask for his services and then not take his call? Perhaps he has me confused with another customer? I live in Oswego and according to what was listed for this business, I am technically outside his service area. But Oswego is not that far from Batavia and he could given me some consideration.

I just needed a couple sidewalk squares replaced. Sennstrom was available the day of contact and working in the area. He had complete the job along with coordinating with village for inspections the same day.

The company did an excellent job with the demo and removal of the old porch and sidewalk and then installing the new porch with footings and matching sidewalk. The employees were professional and showed up on time on the scheduled date and returned for the follow-up form removal and sealing when they said they would. Overall a great job and highly recommended.

I am planning to have them do the work. He never really came out, everything was done by email. I liked what his bid included. He was the lower of the two that I got. They seemed to be comparable as far as what they were going to do. They got back to me within 2 days. It was a good turnaround for the time of the year. I liked him on the phone.

Tom was very prompt in responding to us and giving an estimate. He answered our questions thoroughly and coordinated with the city to meet their requirements for insurance and bonding. When our city requested a couple of changes to the original plan, Tom worked with the city and adjusted the work to comply with their request, even though I am sure it required extra labor on his part. Tom's crew arrived on time to remove the existing driveway and worked extremely hard all day, cleaning up everything before they left. Initially, Tom was going to pour the concrete on the next day, but the forecast called for rain, so he decided to hold off until the next day. Knowing that we were going to be out of town on the day of the pour, Tom assured us he would be onsite the entire time and would remain afterwards to make sure no one signed their names into the fresh concrete. He even called us when he finished and informed us of the progress. The finished product is of expert quality and workmanship. I would highly recommend Concrete by Sennstrom for any concrete work in the future.

Very responsive with quotes and details. Quality of concrete work was excellent. There were some clean up issues that I had when completed, and Tom was extremely responsive to them, sending someone out immediately to address. New steps and walk look great, and neighbors have commented on the nice improvement to the house. Tom is a straight forward tradesman. His no-nonsense kind of approach works great for this type of service where you need quality work but as a consumer it is hard to judge that just from a quote. Would definitely use again.

I contacted this company to request a quote for driveway repair/replacement in Hoffman Estates and was told they do not travel to that area. They were very courteous on the phone, however we were unable to use them.

quick and efficient - excellent work

First off, I am not affiliated with Concrete by Sennstrom in any way, other than being a very happy customer. We evaluated five different concrete contractors quotations before awarding the work to Tom Sennstrom. It was the right choice. Tom is experience and very responsive, he was one of only two contractors that came for a second visit, once we had refined our requirements based on the first round of vendor estimates. Our particular job was a challenging one, coping with tricky drainage and grading issues, as well as managing the appearance of the work and handling building code issues. Tom was there to handle the engineering issues, while his crew took care of demolition, grading, compacting, form-setting, and drain installation. Tom oversaw each pour to insure that things were placed to his liking, he is also a good consultant and understands the permitting and inspection process, which was of great help to us. The work started on a Monday, and was completed in a very timely manner, including landscaping and coping with rain delays. The heavy storms proved to be an excellent test of the drainage system, which worked flawlessly. Tom is direct, matter-of-fact and a genuinely good natured and friendly person. Tom has been in the concrete business since 1970, and his experience definitely shows in the quality and detail of the work. Tom's crew have been with him for 25+ years, so each person knows exactly what they are doing. Everyone was very polite, friendly, and tidy. Each day, the work area was left in an orderly manner, and when the work was finished everything was picked up. Tom's quote wasn't the cheapest of the bids, nor was it the most expensive, however, it was worth paying the premium for the experience, quality, attention to detail, craftsmanship, and insight that went into the work. I would highly recommend Tom to anyone considering concrete work and wouldn't hesitate for a moment to do business with Tom Sennstrom again.

Our client was impressed with this company's professionalism and attention to detail. They used plywood to create a path for the dirt removal and cleaned up the site immediately. This was a rush job as our regular contractor was unable to travel to complete these foundations. Tom made sure the utilities were marked in record time and had the foundations dug and poured in less than a week.

He did an excellent job. They cleaned up everyday and I was very happy with their work. He was extremely responsive and had the job within a week.

I called them. I left them complete information on my name, phone number, location, and the scope of the job that I was looking to get a quote for, and they never called back. I never heard from them. I left them a pretty complete set of information but they did not call back. I would appreciate a call, so I wasn’t impressed. I just was disappointed not to have gotten a call. I wouldn’t call them again.

Tom contacted us promptly to schedule our estimate. When he had a conflict, he called, left a message and played some phone tag to ensure we weren't going to be wasting our time or his. His estimate was fair, sent via email and easy to read. It wasn't three pages of carbon copy fine print but gave specific detail as to the product. My brother is a contractor and looked it over. He builds massive custom homes in CA and he gave it a thumbs up for clarity. (Not price, his advice is that different areas of the country charge different amounts for services). In regards to price: Not the cheapest (which isn't what we are looking for) and not the most expensive. Tom was to the point, personable and professional. Without a doubt we will hire him to the concrete repair on our garage and drive. It's deciding what we want in the way of the aesthetic and when we are going to be home to fit into his schedule. He states he is on the site at every job he works and seems like you could be straight with him and get a straight answer, if there were any problems. Accessibility and being clear is a plus.He also DID NOT spray up our drive with orange survey paint.. without permission. Is this a bonus? Yes.

Sennstrom doesn't have much of a personality but he's one h*** of a concrete guy. His crew of three worked tirelessly to complete our project. They were on time everyday. Each guy knew what he had to do and worked in sync with the others. The end prodcut is flawless and has received a number of compliments from people walking by our house.

I didn’t use them and ended up using our regular landscape guy. As I recall, he was very professional. He was very nice and gave a nice proposal. He emailed it to me and followed up. At that point I was just trying to make a decision whether to doing pavers or doing concrete. I would have probably gone with them. The estimate amount was $5370. He was reasonable. I got three estimates. He came the same day.
