We were very impressed with the service and product provided by C-CAT. Jillian and Vito came to our home to meet with us, as well as our builder, before the project began. My builder is a perfectionist who demands timeliness, safety and quality. He gave G-CAT an A+ and said he would definitely work with G-CAT on future projects. The price point was fair. The entire job was completed in two days. Vito worked beside his crew the entire time ensuring that everything was done to meet both code and our specifications. The men on the job were friendly as well! We have not moved into our home yet, but friends and family who have stopped during our construction period all marvel at the beauty of our stamped concrete patio and front stoop.
Description of Work: New construction where an existing house/drive had once been. G-CAT excavated and installed a driveway and apron; framed and poured a stamped concrete front stoop; excavated and installed front and side service walks; excavated and installed a stamped and colored concrete patio; repaired concrete sidewalk and installed new curbs in front of home per village requirements.

From the moment Vito showed up to provide an estimate he was very professional and patient with all our questions. He was willing to explain what they do and why they do it. Made us feel very comfortable with our decision to hire them for the job. The pricing was very fair for the amount of work that was performed. While they were not the least expensive, they were not the most expensive either -but they were definitely the most knowledgeable! The completed project far exceeds our expectations! We smile each time we look out to see the great job they performed. Not only did they do what was contracted but they cared enough to make adjustments that make sense. For example, our driveway was steeper than necessary and they took it upon themselves to level out. They also created beautiful sidesteps that make the transition from driveway to front sidewalk effortless. I would definitely recommend G-Cat for any of your concrete projects.
Description of Work: Removed old driveway, sidewalks and retaining wall. Rebuilt retaining wall to meet city specs, new sidewalks and driveway.

This is part 2 of a review we wrote about the initial, impressive meeting we had and now the job is done! All the rain we had in June and July caused a lot of delays, which was frustrating for both Vito and for us. But what could he do if he can't pour in the rain? He called us and apologized, then he called and apologized some more. There were projects ahead of ours that needed to be completed, and rightly so. When we FINALLY had some dry weather, the crew was at the house doing the prep work at 6:30 in the morning. Vito was checking and measuring as the forms were being built and the grave base being put down. On the day the cement truck pulled up to the house, the guys were actually running back and forth from the truck at the bottom of the driveway to the patio at the back of the house. It was truly impressive to watch. Clean up was meticulous. Vito and his dad answered our questions as the work progressed and demonstated the 3 P's...... polite, professional and patient. Even after the work was done and we questioned why something looked the way it did, Vito came back and took the time to explain why concrete does what it does. We would happily be one of their referrals!
Description of Work: Poured a 2-pattern stamped concrete patio, stoop and walkway from the patio to the driveway at the front of the house; replaced a broken step from the garage's side entrance with a stamped concrete extension from the walkway.

Vito arrived on time to give an estimate on an area in our yard we were thinking of putting stamped concrete in to enlarge our current patio. He quickly pointed out the drainage issues that would result if we were to repalce the grass with concrete. He gave us some other options which we are considering . I was appreciative of how honest he was seeing as we had two other previous estimates for the same area for pavers and neither of those companies pointed out any drainage issues. Im impressed that he chose to be honest vs taking on a job for money that that might result in being a problem area afterwards water drainage wise. If we decide to go with the other options or any future concrete work G_Cat will be the first place we call.
Description of Work: Came out to give us an estimate on stamped concrete.
Overall it went really well. We had a couple meetings to discuss what we wanted. Initially job was quoted to include replacing the cities sidewalk and the apron on the driveway. I investigated and found that about 1/2 the people that had work don replaced them. I decided that mine are in fine shape and there was no need to replace. Vito suggested running the downspouts into a pipe under the walk to reduce ice on the walkway. As can be expected, the job got pushed back due to frequency of rains this spring and summer. Backed up their work schedules. Once they started it was done very quickly. Removal and prepare bed in 1 day, then had it inspected and poured the driveway the second day. Again rain played a part and delayed the rest. But the entire project was done in a week. The did a great job protecting everything and cleaning up. The only thing that I wish we had spent more time on was discussing the level of the patio. I had assumed it would be close to the level of the existing paver patio and would need a step into the house. It followed the level around from the front of the house and is higher than I had expected. They spread about 10 yards of soil to make a slope between the lawn and the patio. I mentioned to Vito that is something that could be more clear. Overall, I am very happy and I have 5 people that I have already given their name to..

We called for an estimate in April. Vito was punctual, honest and straightforward while explaining his costs and what he could or could not accomplish from our vision. We decided to hire G-Cat but then the weather (rain) delayed the start of our project by two months, which is no fault of G-Cat. Just before the work began, we decided to incorporate an add-on feature to the pour. Vito quickly quoted it, answered all of our last minute questions and even responded to a late night email request the very next morning. Once the work began it was efficient, professional, courteous. All work was completed within 4 days. And the finished project is just beautiful. The only thing you can't count on is that the powder stain release gets everywhere. And while Vito's crew did a good job cleaning up the residue, we went back over everything ourselves to finish cleaning before they arrived to do the gloss sealer. All in all, we are very satisfied with their work and would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Raised, colored, stamped patio and adjoining colored, stamped pathway. Three different stamp patterns with complimentary coloring between the two areas. All areas received a gloss sealer finish.

Very good experience with this company, excellent communications. There was a mix up on colors during process, with no questions asked they replaced the area in question and also discounted some additional work we had done for the inconvenience. We will recommend them to our friends.
Description of Work: Decorative stamping of sidewalk, side entrance and back yard patio.
Do your research first. I knew nothing about stamped decorative concrete and thought I wanted traditional (boring) concrete driveway. After Vito suggested I go with a stamped concrete, I got on the internet and searched his website and other contractors to see pictures and to get ideas. It really did help. I showed Jillian the pics of which ones I liked and she told me what kind of stamped designs I liked. Vito and crew were very professional and did a great job. Finished in a little over a week due to busy end of season schedule and weather. I am so pleased with the work and final result. My neighbors comment how nice it looks. My neighbor a few doors down just hired G-Cat Construction and they are installing same stamped design on their driveway. So I won't be the only house in the neighborhood with this unique driveway design... but that's okay-- the neighborhood improvement is welcomed.
Description of Work: Removed driveway, walkway, sidewalk and front porch and stairs. Poured new concrete on driveway and added decorative stamped walkway, porch and stairs plus decorative stamped border around driveway. Looks fantastic. Vito, Mike and crew were great to work with. Professional, hard-working. Jillian was very helpful also. I will call them again when I am ready to replace an aggregate patio in the back yard and would recommend them to others who need concrete work.
Overall, the experience was excellent. We attended a home show and picked up several business cards. G-Cat was the only one that followed up within a couple of days. We did seek multiple quotes and G-Cat was in the middle. The reason we chose G-Cat was the high level of consulting and creativeness we desired from pre-sales through completion of the project. In the pre-sales, Vito took a lot of time to explain concrete, stamped cement, brushed cement and the entire process from digging out our asphalt to the sealing of the cement. Jillian assisted with the colors. As we were deciding on the colors, I asked Jillian to choose colors as if she lived in my house, regardless of what our color preferences were. We ended up going with Jillian's recommendations. One action that we found helpful was driving around various neighborhoods looking at what people did with their driveways. Looking at what others did gave us ideas on what we would do and what we didn't want to do. Also, G-Cat has examples of various stamped concretes at a show room. Pictures on their website and other websites are great but nothing beats seeing live examples on which we could walk. The examples allowed us to see the depths of the various stamps which was particularly important to us as we have older friends and relatives who walk with some difficulty. And, as cement lasts a long time, we figured that in 20 years we might have the same issue. :-) I'm the type that requires a full understanding of the process and material before contracting. I am also very intimately involved in watching the process taking place to understand what is happening and to immediately address any issues. A major concern for us is the safety of our guests and riding our motorcycles on the driveway when wet. As such, Vito took time to work with us on the design including adding double quantity silica into the cement sealer. I've tried the brushed and stamped concrete when wet and it has high traction. During the installation, I checked out what was happening about every hour. Vito and the crew chief were very patient. Due to how our house was constructed, there were some decisions to make. Vito made the suggestions, provided alternatives and I made the decision. Vito has followed up twice since the completion of the project to check if there were any problems. Again, overall the experience was excellent.
Description of Work: We contracted G-Cat to dig up an existing ashpalt driveway and an existing walkway and stoop. These three were replaced with an all concrete solution. We replace the driveway with brushed grey cement with stamped bricks (sorta terra cotta-ish color) along the sides of the driveway. The walkway and stoop are the same stamped color but in a flag stone pattern. We used a grey release (highlighter color) which the sealer brings out. The consulting that Vito and Jillian provided was critical. We didn't want what everybody else had nor did we want a lot of geometric patterns in the driveway. Vito and Jillian assisted with patterns and colors. I am a full believer that when you pull into your driveway, you should feel happy. That is what I feel. All services were executed excellently and all members of the crew were very polite and professional. It is important for us that it was a family owned business and that we got a very personal touch. While the price was definitely reasonable for what we had done, for us this was a lot of money and I had to feel comfortable, which I did through the entire job. I found the entire process interesting, particularly how the cement is stamped and brushed. We've had multiple neighbors stop by and tell us how fantastic it looks and it does look fantastic.

They were very knowledgeable and professional. I haven't made a decision yet. He certainly represented himself very well. Their price was in the ballpark of other proposals that I have seen. They were not unusually expensive or cheap. They were competitive. They were knowledgeable of the services. They do regular concrete and also stamped concrete.

Vito was the only contractor to bid the job who had creative design suggestions and solutions. His bid was very competitive, and he worked effectively with our village in the permit and inspection process. Jillian was very helpful in the selection of stain colors and stamp design. The work went as quickly as possible given weather conditions heard the crew was very professional and cleaned-up the site when completed. The end product is beautiful and exceeds our expectation.
Description of Work: G-Cat designed and constructed our stained and stamped concrete front stair, stoop and patio.
Everything went perfectly for both jobs. Vito is very personable and is anxious to please. He listened to our needs and adjusted the job accordingly. For example, my husband is disabled. When he was putting in the sidewalks he was very conscious of the fact that a wheelchair needed to have easy access. I was apprehensive about choosing the color of the stamped concrete so he sent his wife to discuss it with me and assist me with the choice. His crew were all hard working and never seemed to take breaks throughout the day. The work was meticulous and beautiful when finished. There isn't anyone who walks by the front of the house and doesn't comment on the beautiful driveway and staircase. The patio connects to the pre-existing brick walkway and new sidewalk to the gazebo with continuity as if it had always existed. All of the debris was hauled away and everything left neat and clean when finished. We couldn't be more pleased and certainly recommend G-Cat highly.
Description of Work: The first job done 5/18/09 was to remove, replace and widen driveway, replace front walk, remove and replace front stairs as well as put in side service walk (50'x3'). This was all to be stamped and colored. The front steps had a cut stone edging. The cost was $12, 300. The second job done was on 4/12/12 and cost $4500. This job was to excavate and install a concrete patio (11'x22' w/25'x3' walkway to the gazebo; excavate and install a gazebo pad.
Contacted Vito with G-Cat Construction, who was *local* to our area and was recent to Angie's list, in getting a second estimate for this decorative patio. Previous concrete contractor having done 'California Style' pours for our back patio, two long side walks, and driveway was our first contact but his distance from our residence and this being such a 'small pour' seemed a little high in price causing us to contant G-Cat. Found out that 'smaller pours' of concrete which do not utilize the full advantage use of a large concrete truck can vary a price per foot anywhere from a standard $6.00 to $8.00 dollars per sq. ft. or more. Vito and his sales associate Joe showed up as scheduled for a review of the work needed and stated that a free estimate would be forthcoming within the week. The price difference between our prior concrete contractor and G-Cat differed by more than $500 with G-Cat having the lower price. I contacted our former concrete contractor who was familiar with G-Cat's owner Vito and he understood that with the 'small pour size' and competing with a local contractor that he just couldn't match Vito's price. With no hard feelings we opted to go with G-Cat based on his being price, his being local, and reference listings on prior work done in the area. Vito and his team showed professionlism and friendliness throughout the project. With 50% down payment at start of work (excavation/framing) and 50% upon 'final pour' of the pad the whole project, excluding sealing, took less than one week which included downtime for city inspection of 'pre-pour'. As the weather was not conducive it wasn't until about a week later after final payment that G-Cat was able to get out to 'seal' the finished job which was understood. The overall job was fantastic and the wife and I couldn't be happier with the workmanship that Vito and his teamed showed. G-Cat wasn't in Angie's list 2 years ago when I did my initial search for a concrete contractor so now I've managed to find two 'great concrete specialists' and G-Cat is definitely worthy of an estimate on any job being contemplated!
Description of Work: Excavate, frame out and prepare pour for ninety (90) square foot decorative *Butterfield Harvest Wheat* colored <Heavy Stone Textured> front patio w/ Butterfield Slate Gray <Release> antiquing overcast.
They did an excellent job, they are wonderful people. They were always checking on the status of the project, and his wife even came out to help me pick the color for the concrete they were to use.

Vito was showed up on time and listened to what we wanted. He seemed the most knowledgeable of the three estimates we had gotten. He sent us a written estimate and told us it would be about month before he could get to the job. When we accepted his proposal, his wife sent us a written contract to sign and return. It was about 6 weeks when we received the call that they would be out next week(understandable with the amount of rain we had this past Spring) and would call at the beginning of the week with a start day. His wife came out one afternoon to help us choose patterns and colors. She was very helpful. He and his crew showed up on time and he mapped it out, but really did not have a good understanding of what we wanted. He came up with 150 sq. ft. more than we wanted because he had not overlapped the circles enough. He wanted to charge us $1500.00 more because the square footage was 150 feet more. At that point, my husband told him that he would create an auto-CAD drawing with the exact square footage and send it to him. He had already sent his men to another job until we could straighten this all out. We were not exactly happy, because we had suggested that he come out in advance to map it out. We knew it was complicated, but he promised to squeeze us into the schedule when the drawing was done. Once the drawing was done, they squeezed us in within the next two weeks. The price we paid was the exact estimate he had given us originally. He came out the night before to map it out with my husband and the next day prepared it for pre-pour inspection by the village. It was about a 10 days from start to finish. Pouring borders first, allowing to dry, pouring the centers and then applying the antiquing release. He also applied a sealer and instructed us to apply it every other year. He showed patience and professionalism during the whole process. I gave the company an A, because once he understood what we wanted, he completed it in a timely fashion and it turned out beautiful.
Description of Work: Poured 300 sq. ft. patio which was three circles overlapping to create a cloverleaf shape. Each circle had a 16 inch border. An Ashlar slate pattern stamped throughout center of circles in one color. Heavy stone pattern stamped on borders of the circles in another color and antiquing stain over entire patio.

Vito was one of the few contractors who actually responded to our request for an estimate. He set up a time convenient to us to come out within a couple of days. After discussing what my wife and I wanted done, he did some measurements and returned to discuss possible design options. We decided to go with a very simple approach although Vito had some great ideas for customization which we appreciated. The price he gave was extremely competitive, but the key was the straight-forward way that Vito communicated and confidence that he conveyed about his company's ability to deliver a quality job. Although this was a significant investment or us, we felt confident that Vito would deliver and scheduled time a few weeks out to get the job in before fall. Vito's crew worked very quickly and effectively to get the job done without sacrificing quality one bit. And one of the keys in my opinion is that Vito does much of the difficult work himself. That gave me an added feeling of confidence knowing I could get updates on how things were going straight from Vito and if I had any questions/issues I would be able to address them with him on the spot. The job was completed right on time and the end product was just what I was looking for. I had several friends and neighbors comment on how great everything looked. Vito's crew also did timely follow-up to remove the wood framing and check for any quality issues. Vito stopped by again the following spring to check to see how the concrete held up after a very tough winter. If I had to choose 2 words to describe Vito and his G-Cat crew, they would be "Responsive" and "Quality".
Description of Work: Removed old damaged concrete for entire driveway, walkway, and front porch. Expanded concrete area behind our house and in front of our detached garage to make it a much more useful and attractive area.
