Handy Men & Mrs Helper Kitchen & Bath

He was on time and started working immediately with removing the old tile, toilet, trim, and putting all broken tile and plywood in large bags. He replace all the plywood with cement board then proceeded to re-tile the floor. He was very good about putting tarps on the floor on my rugs. He took 3 days but the first day was mostly the demolishing of the tile floor and plywood. The next day he put the cement board down and re-tiled. Last day was grouting the new tile floor and clean-up. He put everything back that was to be replaced like the toilet and quarter round and did some caulking. He helped bring my extra tile in my basement and also put the the bags of broken stuff into my garbage. Urmas works constantly and does not take any breaks. Very good worker!

There was a small problem with the color of the grout, but they returned and fixed it quickly and accurately.||Good job.

This comment addresses two jobs and two work crews. The painting, done by Rein and Vergo, was picture perfect and I cannot overrate the competency of these two. They did a great job in painting nearly the entire town home that I just purchased. It took nearly two weeks, but the effort paid off. The second job was work by Chris, who very proficiently solved two leak problems with sliding doors. One was in the walkout basement, and the other leading to the first floor balcony. Chris also placed a nice bronze vent cover on the kitchen heating vent, and replaced a halogen bulb in the under-cabinet microwave. In all, a very laudable effort. Note: The cost estimate below is only for Chris's work.

Everything was done neatly and professionally, including clean up. Used the right tools for the job too!

Very happy with new bathrooms! Handymen were friendly and professional. Minor complaints - Shower was raised in husband's bath to better match height - however, he has two torn rotator cuffs - he can manage - but it would have been better to discuss first. Shower curtain rod in other bath could have been lower. Website still indicates faux painting, but they don't do that. These don't detract from looks or function and we are still very happy with results.

This is the second time we have used Handy Man and Mrs Helper. The first time was 3 years ago when they did our kitchen remodel. When we wanted to redo our three bathrooms we knew who to call and didn't even call in another contractor for a quote. We just picked up the phone and called Faith and Rod. Heath came out and did all our bathrooms. Everything is perfect and they look amazing. Heath is great at his job and made some great suggestions. Rod constantly checks in to make sure that everything is on track. The painter did a great job also. This is a company that will take care of you from beginning to end and make sure everything is perfect. You can't go wrong we have done two major projects with them. Book it now they are busy!

Faith (Mrs. Helper) was very meticulous in making sure that we and the painter were on the same page in advance as to what work needed to be done and when it would be performed. Communication with them was excellent and Urmas did a great job. Would use again and highly recommend. On time, very professional, good quality work and good clean up.

The company had my husband lay the under lament ie cement board before the installation of the floor. We were told the installer would inspect this and make sure it was all right to lay the tile on.The installer was late but he called the first day. He installed the floor over three days. On the last day their seemed to be one tile that was uneven and he repaired it. We could not walk on it right away to really inspect the entire floor. Over the next week it seemed like a tile or two had moved. within the next days the floor was continuing getting worse. I called the company and spoke to them they said they would get back to me after I sent the photos to them.They did get back to us and even had the installer call us. They wanted to know what we wanted!!!! We wanted them to fix it!!! Again, they called back and said their was NOTHING they could do for us but they would give us a discount on any future work we might have for them . AS IF WE WOULD ALLOW THEM IN OUR HOUSE AGAIN !!!! They told us they would do nothing anyway.So we had the floor torn out and installed by someone else!!!! So once again we endured the the removal and installation of the new floor. The new floor is great and LEVEL! The new installers said it looked like "Stevie Wonder" installed it! Another tile expert told us he had never seen a tile floor installed as bad as this was in his thirty years experience!! This is the reason why we joined Angies List to get a good reputable company that would do a good job and stand behind their work. We were so sadly disappointed. I don't know if we will use Angies List ever again.I really dislike giving a company a bad review but this one deserves it.

Pawel was very professional from the start! Not only was he prompt, he was a few minutes early. He worked efficiently and explained and showed us what he was doing as he went along. He cleaned/swept up when he was finished too. The freezer handle had broken just a few days before, so I asked him to look at it while he was here. He willingly did so and fixed it in no time.

The painting went well. Rein showed up punctually both days with his crew and did the job that I asked. The kitchen looks 100 times better. They were meticulous and careful.

Too, too, too many projects to detail. Some were small, some were emergencies, a couple were larger things.

I was very satisfied. The gentleman clearly knew what he was doing, and was able to work around a preexisting issue we had with our shower that we weren't aware of (something wasn't lined up properly when the shower was originally installed). He was fast but thorough and efficient, and pleasant to talk to. We are very pleased.

Because of the great reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Handy Men and Mrs. Helper. I agreed to the cost of the quote which was $100.00. I was having a complete remodel of a large master bath. They were very professional and punctual with the appointments. The quote when received was extremely high. The quote was for $25,900, but that didn't even begin to cover the final cost as, according to the quote, I would have to supply most of the materials. The quote detailed that I was to purchase the bathtub, tub faucet, sinks, vanities, faucets and drains for vanities, lights for vanities, shower tile, mosaic tile for shower floor, shower trim, grab bar for shower, shower valves and body sprays, all tile and grout for bathroom floor, baseboard tile and grout, and the cost of paint. On top of the $25,900, they quoted $550 per vanity (2 vanities, so another $1100) just to install the vanities that I will have to purchase - AND a $15.00 "daily trip charge". Also they quoted $80 per hour for any additional work needed that was not detailed on the quote. Needless to say, I received 2 additional quotes (that I did not have to pay for) and neither quote was even close to the price of Handy Men and Mrs. Helper. I cannot comment on the quality of the work they would have performed. I have no doubt it would be high quality - to match their high quote.

We had a wonderful experience with Handyman and Mrs. Helper. Faith, our primary contact was very responsive and professional and the gentleman that did our work (Urmas) was exceptionally friendly and did an amazing job on our kitchen and living room. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

It went horribly. The only good things I can say is that Faith answered my calls promptly. Rein showed up on time. He tested some old paint for lead and said it was not lead. I found out later that he was wrong. It was, in fact, lead paint. They charged me $30 twice for the lead testing set. They did give me my money back once I showed them their mistake. He took forever to paint the room and charged 4 times as much as I expected. They charged more than I was led to believe it would cost for removing the paper and painting and I still have the wallpaper under the paint. Over $1000 for a small bedroom with a low ceiling is RIDICULOUS! Faith pursued me with 3 or 4 phone calls after the job trying to convince me to let them do the rest of the rooms I'd had them look at. I finally had to ask her to leave me alone. I was VERY uncomfortable with this company and would NEVER recommend them to friends. It was so bad I thought about quitting Angie's list altogether.

From the beginning to the end of the project, we were very impressed by the communication, plan, and execution of the project. We really appreciate the time that they took to listen to us, and follow through. The quality of the work was exemplary. I would recommend them to everyone!!

I was very surprised and pleased with how fast the work was done. Even when the new smoke alarm could not be mounted where the existing one was, Tom installed the new one in a very appropriate location and found a cover for the original location on the 11 ft. high ceiling. Both disposal and alarm were tested by Tom to make sure they were working correctly. I am very please.

I called them on Oct. 16 in AM and received a call by 1 PM that same day. Faith asked what I needed done and I described the above. She said she had a man that was and excellent painter and could do the job in one day!. Totally impressed with this and said "Sure sent him out". She arranged for Urmas to come on November 1st between 8-8:30 AM. Urmas arrived at 8:15 AM and came inside to see where the painting had to be done. He then left to go and buy the caulk and paint nearby. He was back by 8:45 AM and started to paint. He finished at 2 PM with everything. Cleaned up and left the extra paint and caulk with me. I would hire Handy Men and Mrs. Helper again - actually I have a quote for them to come and replace the floor tile in the master bathroom in early December. Very happy with all that was done. Urmas does a wonderful job with caulking. I had someone else do some caulking for me back in 2010 and it was not done well. So Urmas re-did around my kitchen sink and it is a great job. Hardly even know there is any caulk there. Urmas is very neat with his painting and everything else he does. He removed his shoes each and every time he entered the house. Vacuumed up both bathroom floors and the carpeting nearby. Asked where he could wash out the roller and brushes and I showed him my utility sink in my garage. This is a great company and they should have an A+ rating. Keep up the great work!!!!

All services were of the top caliber. Excellent craftsmanship with focused attention on all the details. Outstanding communication and professionalism.

Handy Men & Mrs. Helper are a great example of why I joined Angie's List in the first place. I wanted to know BEFORE hiring someone that I would have a quality experience. Handy Men & Mrs. Helper did not disappoint. I needed a handyman to repair a leaking toilet, and re-tile the surrounding area. Tom took great care to remove the existing tile, in an effort to reuse as much as he could. He was extremely thorough and made a point of expaining to me what he was doing and showing me the damage that the leak had caused to the sub-floor; a portion of which, Tom replaced. I an clueless when it comes to these types of repairs, so I really appreciated his patience and friendly manor. The repairs turned out great! You cannot distinguish between the newly laid tile and the original, so "hat's off" to Tom. Also, while I had a handyman at my house, I took the opportunity to have him hang two valances that had been sitting in their original packaging for a couple of years because I was "too busy" to get around to it. They look great, too! I cannot be happier with their services!!

These guys were the perfect solution for the project we needed! Rod came over and talked with us in detail about options and costing. Once they started work they moved very fast and called with anything they thought would need our input. They finished on time and on the lower end of the quoted budget and did a great job!

It went very well. Had issues with past paint companies doing a lousy job...but not Handy Men and Mrs. Helper. They can really paint!! They are very fast too, neat and very clean!
