Handy Men & Mrs Helper Kitchen & Bath

I sent a message via Angie's list and also called on 9/6/15 for some work I wanted a quote on. I never received a message response nor a phone call back. Very disappointing, because based on some of the reviews, I was really looking forward to working with them....there were a few reviews that said they never received a response, which is why I messaged AND called them. Unfortunately, I can't recommend them based on my experience.

Provider repaired drywall seams that had popped in several places, repaired several holes cut in the walls for new electrical installations, and repaired some condensation moisture damage in a skylight. All work was completed on time, on budget and provider was very communicative about expectations and timing. I would highly recommend this provider.

We could not have been more pleased with the service of work. The handyman was just great and came up with many ideas. He went the extra mile. The painter was outstanding. They painted the entire home, basements and garage door. Communiation with Anne was perfect, both by phone and email. Very detailed. We knew exactly what we were paying for as it was laid out in a detailed invoice. We would recoomend this company to everyone. We would most definitely use them again.

The value here offered by the company is exemplary, and is driven by a combination of an excellent crew of professionals as well as simply outstanding project management. We asked the team to quickly remodel our 1970s kitchen / laundry room and touch up the master bathroom (new vanity). Timing was essential, as we were preparing to list our house by late July and did not want to miss the market. They quoted a project completion of late July accordingly, and hit the promised date spot on. Andy (Owner) You will find Andy to be the classic professional, with an understanding of the disruption that the project can cause the homeowner, the stress, as well as how to manage a project with all the steps in between. The project was seamless, from start to finish, with impeccable timing of crew staffing, material ordering and delivery, etc. The master bath project, added in the middle of the kitchen effort, was slotted in during the week countertops were being cut (so freed up the crew to switch to the bath). This additional master bath project added zero time to the kitchen, as Andy was able to strategically reallocate his crew at the right moment. Andy was also very present, which was appreciated. The Crew Heath and Steve are nothing short of professional and "good people", who delivered a beautiful kitchen, on-time, and with caring consideration. For example, the removal of a washer and dryer for the laundry room stage was going to be an expected disruption to the family. We expected to be without both for a period of time as the floor, walls, sink, plumbing, etc. was completed. They were obviously conscientious about this, as they went through the trouble of reinstalling the equipment while the work was ongoing, and we were only without the washer and dryer for 2 days. This is the second time we have used the company, and they have only gotten better. The combination of professionalism, project management, and staffing of solid human beings will continue to elevate the profile of this already solid organization. Handy Man & Mrs Helper, along with Steve, are probably the best I've EVER seen in the business. They're prompt, professional, courteous, and prices are more than reasonable! We had exterior security cameras installed outside our house. Steve and I collaborated on the ideal places to install the cameras so they're inconspicuous yet capture all the vulnerable areas of the exterior of our home. Steve was extremely meticulous to make sure that all the wires were nicely hidden where they entered the house, and then climbed up into the stuffy attic to feed them to the hub for the cameras. I can now feel safe in my own home with this added security. Besides this work, HMMH and Steve have always been our first and only call when we need work done around the house. To them, nothing is too big, and nothing is too small. My husband and I are disabled so it is very hard for us to do what others would normally consider to be "DIY" work. I have even referred HMMH to several of my neighbors in my subdivision for EXCELLENT handy man work. And what's even better, is HMMH does FAR more than just handy man work.... Landscaping, construction, painting, remodeling, and others. Where else can you make one phone call to catch all your needs. In fact, earlier this Spring I was searching for somebody who could blow up images to a large poster size. HMMH had a source where I was able to get my images resized . . . and the price was more than reasonable . . . And the quilt I was putting the images in turned out to be a winner! Please, if you've found HMMH you need not look any further. Just call them and you'll experience a cheerful and pleasant response. I owe a great deal of gratitude to HMMH for all they've done for us!

Submitted a request for service via their online form in mid-July. The confirmation note said to expect a response within 1-3 days. It is now mid-August and I've not yet received a proper response.

Excellent job overall - Handymen and Mrs. Helper really helped to transform our home into something truly special. Rein and Virgo (the workers who performed all drywall/painting work) are experts in their trade and took a great deal of pride in all the work they performed. The end result has us weeks later, staring at the walls/trim in awe, smiling saying "Wow, how did they the do that!?" Looking forward to using their services again and again!

All of the kitchen work went off without a hitch. They were in and out in less than one week. The workers were highly professional and extremely talented. the Floor looks absolutely beautiful and the drywall was up and painted in two days time. The person who placed the drywall and painted was a true artist. I have never seen such excellent work. We has since asked for a quote on some additional taping and painting to be done in other areas of our home. He was that good. The new window we asked for has turned out even better than we had expected. We had an old window unit air conditioner unit that we had not used in years in the old window. The technician removed the old air conditioner and replaced the old window which had broken glass in it. We have been amazed at how this new window looks. It brightens up our entire living room and makes it look so much better. I cannot say enough about the talent that both workers brought to this house. The kitchen looks like a brand new one with just the additions we asked for. We were never talked into more than what we asked for. Other companies wanted us to remove all the cabinets and get new ones which we were not interested in doing. Handy Men & Mrs. Helper did exactly what we wanted. No more and no less. It has been a pleasure working with this company. They were a real change from normal contractors. They had only our interests in mind and not lining their pocketbooks at our expense. The team was very professional. My request for estimate was scheduled promptly and Anne was very friendly. Andy showed up on time and gave me great ideas and a fair price. Ginger walked me through the estimate line by line when it was ready. I only chose another supplier because they had done good work for me in the past and their price was virtually identical. Otherwise I would have chosen Handyman and Mrs. Helper and been happy with the results.

I'm a general contractor and needed an additional push to finish some work before the holidays. EJ was professional and an excellent painter, helping us in a timely manner. Working with Handymen & Mrs. Helper was a very good experience and I would call them again. If EJ is the caliber of painters they contract, I would trust them to do more work for us in the future.

We had a great experience- the person on the phone was great about communication and getting us scheduled. The handyman that came to our house was very nice, explained everything clearly and didn't leave a mess. I would use them again without question.

I have used Handy Men & Mrs. Helper before and am a true fan!!! I have sold my home and the inspection found 3 small things that needed to be done by July 27th - even though this wasn't a big job by any means, Anne worked with her team to find me a slot and Steve came out to do the repairs. Steve has worked at my home before, and just like before was super in all respects! Very professional and clean in his work. I will have need for services in my new home along with some remodeling and there isn't another place I would go to for work to be done. Thank you, Anne for helping me out on these small jobs and Steve for his usual excellence in workmanship!! I look forward to working with you all on the projects after I move :-)

Handy Men and Mrs. Helper went beyond my expectations. My list included some electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general fix-its. It was great to have one person come that was able to address all issues so I didn't have to have multiple contractors. The team is paid by the hour so they are not rushing so they could complete the task. They are able to take time to brainstorm and discuss options. Steve was able to analyze the issues and come up with solutions that I wasn't aware of and were better than what I had planned. He is a detail person so he makes sure that the job is done correctly. At all times he was polite, professional, and displayed high quality work. He was able to find solutions to problems other independent contractors had told me it couldn't be done. Steve is a multitalented professional. We have used Handy Men and Mrs. Helper before and will continue to call on them and recommend them to everyone.

We contacted Handy Men and Mrs. Helper after a friend of mine used them for some minor repairs in her home. I contacted Anne and Andy came out within a few days to give us an estimate for the work we were requesting:updating our master bathroom. Andy and Anne were both very professional. I actually enjoyed calling them. I even emailed with a question at 9pm one evening, expecting to hear back maybe the next day, and got a response within minutes. The work began the second week of May with an estimate of a two week finish. The work did go over about a week, but we were slightly delayed due to several humid days and skim coat, etc. needing to dry before being able to start the next process. We were assigned two sub contractors. Steve was our main contractor. I cannot begin to say how professional and what a hard worker he was. He stayed late if he needed to. He came on time every day. I'm also a stay at home mom, and having a contractor in the house was not the most convenient. He was as considerate as could be considering we were home most of the time he was working. The tile work he did in the shower and floor turned out amazingly well, and Steve made sure to ask as many questions as needed regarding my preferenced on things. Rein was our skim coater and painter. The paint job turned our really nicely. Rein was also really courteous and a hard worker. Both Steve and Rein did a great job cleaning up at the end of the day. They laid down tarps on our hardwood where they'd be bringing things in and out. Tarps were also laid on the floor where they set tools, etc. I was really nervous about hiring a contractor since this was our first real renovation on our home. Everyone we worked with was pleasant and professional. I'd not hesitate to contact them for any future jobs. I also thought the price was really fair given that we had a few other quotes as well. We were allowed to pick out all our own materials but they had great vendor contacts that we used as well for tile. Honestly, this was the most pleasant experience we could have hoped for. We're looking forward to more projects with HMMH in the future.

I used Angie's concierge service to find this company. They said it was the best company to contact about this work. I'm sorry to say they were wrong. Before contacting them I wanted to see what people said about this company. Like always, there are those who love this company, and those who hate it. Then some in the middle. One thing I saw pop up a few times in the reviews is people complaining about this company never getting back to them. Its sad to say, but I became a victim of this. I just don't understand some companies anymore. I call you to see how much something will cost, and you never get back to me. I called back two more times, and even left messages. Still nothing. Silence. Sure, my job isn't much. But I'm still willing to pay to have it done. I will never look into this company again, and will not recommend it to anyone.

With such high score on Angie's list, i am sure this company can do a good job if they believe you are worth their time. Just don't bother them if your project is small, they are the big dog on Angie's list now, they don't really need your businesses. Try your local contractors, i did. Anyways, to be fair, below is what happened: I just brought my first home, have a little project i want to do. So i got the Angie's list membership. Went on and find Handy men & Mrs Helper. Contacted them on may 7th through Angie's list, the same afternoon i got a reply says they will call me. Got a call from Ginger Mackay, we talked and she instructed me send her an email with photos, which i did. The next day i didn't heard anything, so i checked back with Ginger. She told me that they did receive the photos and she will check with Andy over the weekend and get back to me. I replied and said I prefer sooner but Okay. Since then, never heard anything from them again. Maybe i just fell through the cracks, maybe the paperwork is misplaced, maybe my my email is accidentally deleted. I know those things happens, but i also know if my project is over 50K instead 1k, they would have find a way to get in touch even those things happened. Not really blaming them. It's human nature. This review is just for those who are in the same position as me. Take your broke a** somewhere else. Below is update after seeing company's response: The company responded and claim that i demanded numbers over the phone, please show proof of that (either email or phone log - at least show we did spoke)...Since i have never talk to them after they received my email...so where did this "i demand something over phone came from"? i am not willing to go through the service? How do i go through the service if the communication just stops? if you did respond to my email with further instruction on "going through the process" after i sent the picture, please show proof. As for the claim that you left a voice mail....Nop...didn't happen. Let's just blame Verizon...shifting blame is simple enough.

Each job was punctual, FAST, easy contact with Anne, great job on the project. I have been extremely happy with them and referred them to others. I will use again when I need work done!

BEST SERVICE!!!! This is the second time that I've used Handymen and Mrs. Helper, BOTH times the service was excellent. Their estimates for time and costs are on target. The first time I had them paint my entire main floor, stairwell, entryway and upstairs hallway and it was a BEAUTIFUL job!!!! Both times, the painting is professionally done with clean lines, no paint drips and complete coverage. EJ gave me great advice that I'm thankful to have taken regarding the paint color, it was Sherwin Williams Rhinestone. It's a beautiful light gray that kept everything open and bright. I highly recommend them for painting, excellent work that you will love!

The end-to-end process was very smooth. I purchased the Big Deal for 4 hours of light carpentry. Within 24 hours, Anne had contacted me via phone. We managed the entire job over email by sending pics and descriptions of what I wanted. No need for a site visit. The first day work was scheduled, Urmas showed up on-time and he took care of everything. He even went to Home Depot to purchase the trim, which was a big time saver for me. I would say that overall the job was done efficiently and with consideration for my needs. Urmas exceeded my expectations in the quality of his work and professionalism. And the final job cost ($) matched the quoted price. I am a satisfied customer and am planning to use Handy Men & Mrs Helper again.
