I found my "Go to Plumber" and I couldn't be happier! I would recommend Stan to anyone. He is trustworthy, does good work and is very fair. Thank you Stan for excellent service!

Stan is one of the most honest tradesmen I have ever dealt with. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I had a slow running, dripping faucet. Somehow a piece of plastic had gotten wedged inside the hot water handle itself. He removed it and didn't really charge me anything for doing so. He also replaced my shower head with one he had on his truck and charged me practically nothing for it. This is the second excellent experience I have had with Halan & Co and will certainly call them in the future for all my plumbing needs.

I called Halan and Co. Plumbing early Thursday morning and left a message explaining my situation. Stan Halan returned my call within 15 minutes and was able to listen to my situation and set up an appointment for that day. Stan came out on time. He told me he would look at the pump and let me know his thoughts. He called me down and gave me two options. He clearly explained the difference in price and outcome of each option. He was able to complete the work in less than 2 hours. He installed a pump with a warranty and let me know how to contact him if I had any other issues. I would definitely keep Stan in my contacts and call again if I need. Hopefully won't need anytime soon!

Stan identified and fixed the problem in seconds flat. We have been using Harlan Plumbing for years. He has worked on a variety of jobs in our home. Stan is the ultimate gentleman. Although he might no longer drag new hot water tanks on his own up to the second floor for installation like he did a few years ago, he is still our go-to guy for general plumbing matters.

We anticipated needing the toilet replaced, since it had leaked through the first floor ceiling. It just need to have some innards replaced and resealed; did not have to replace toilet as expected. Mr Halan was prompt, friendly, informative, and quick in his work. I will use him again for our plumbing needs.

Stan came out within half hour of me calling him. I had sent a note to him on Sunday via Angie's List. Responded quickly. Came and replaced valve in few minutes. No muss, no fuss. Very courteous and affordable. Would use his services again in future.

Stan arrived on time, friendly, polite. The faucet I bought at Menards, though not cheap, was poorly made,(in China). Stan tried his best to repair the internals of the faucet, spending more time than he was being paid for before we decided to return the faucet to Menards. As a sidenote, the plumbing associate at Menards admitted he had received many complaints from tradesmen installing fixtures from China -poorly made parts using cheap materials. I bought a new faucet for about 40% more $ and Stan came back and installed in an hour and a half. He did not ask for more $ but Menards gave me a credit which I shared with Stan. I have recommended Stan to neighbors, one of whom have used him twice with high marks. Good man!

Stan was very easy to work with. He is extremely responsive. I called on a Sunday and he returned my call the same day and was out the next day. Knowing that this type of clog can get very messy, he took the time to make sure to keep any mess to a minimum. When he has completed the task, fairly quickly, he took care of any drips, spills, etc. from the process. I had used him in the past for replacing my upstairs bathroom shower stall and have always found his work to be excellent and prices fair. I would highly recommend him for any plumbing job.

Stan has helped out with a number of issues I have had since moving into a new home. He is always very quick to reply & stop out to fix whatever issue we have going on. Takes the time to explain things and give advice when we need to purchase new equipment. Courteous, fair pricing, and straightforward.

I called Halan Plumbing and he was able to come out the same day. He quoted me $225-250 on the phone, but when he was done, he said it didn't take as long as he expected, so it was only $200. Really! An HONEST plumber!! :) He was punctual, polite, efficient, and I will use him any time I need a plumber in the future!

Stan is like an old-time tradesman. Courteous, professional, prompt, honest and affordable. He recommends decent quality systems and parts that will last. Since he currently works alone, I am not sure if he is still able to handle hot water tank installations on second floors, so it's best to inquire. He installed a Bradford White hot water tank five years ago in our second floor utility room.

On Sunday night, water started leaking to the floor from our under sink cabinet. We quickly ascertained the water was coming from the garbage disposer in the form of multiple drip locations. I called Mr. Halan around 8:15 am Monday and left a voicemail detailing what was going on with the garbage disposal. He called back within 15 minutes and told me he could be at my house before noon once he finished his current job. True to his word, Mr. Halan was at my house by 11:45 am. He quickly figured out the issue and suggested we replace the disposer instead of fixing it. He was all done before 1:30 pm. No mess and our issue was resolved promptly and professionally by a super nice, knowledgeable plumber.

Stan Halan was very professional, prompt, and a pleasure to do business with. Excellent job of explaining the problems, recommending solutions and alternatives, and getting the work done very well. Pump failed over a weekend. Called and left a message and Halan promptly returned the call on Monday morning. Made an appointment for 11:30; Stan arrived 15 minutes early. The work was done professionally with care not to make a mess (laid out tarps, etc). It's great to find a good plumber local to Barrington and will use again.

I called early in the morning and he came over within a couple hours. Warned me in advance that the pump replacement wasn't cheap. I knew this from previous experience so his warnings were appreciated. He replaced the pump without problems and provided advice (already knew it but he didn't have to say anything) about the care of the pump as well as describing that the previous job while ok wasn't done to perfect spec. I'd use the company without question for future plumbing needs. Very pleasant, showed up on time, and did one bang up job.

Stan arrived right on time and diagnosed the problem quickly. He encountered a few problems that he quickly remedied and fixed the problem and a few other small tweaks. (Such as caulking some unrelated things around the tub). This is the second time I have used Stan's services and won't hesitate to call him again should the need arise.

It went very well as the provider troubleshooted with me over the phone, and helped me with a basic issue. Very helpful, I will recommend the provider services to anyone looking for help. I have other jobs in mind that need to be performed, I will be calling this provider back.

A couple of weeks prior to the service, we had called Stan for an estimate to put in a new battery backup sump pump even though we had no issues with our existing sump pump, yet. Stan sent in his estimate for the requested battery backup system and it arrived in a few days. A day after we received his estimate, we started to have problems with our sump pump. The rain storms came and then we had water issues. We called Stan on a Saturday and left a message stating that our sump pump went out and we had some water leakage. Knowing that it was the weekend, we were not sure if he worked on Saturday. We thought that we would need a very expensive battery backup system but when Stan came over on Monday, July 1. he saw that we did not need a battery backup. Instead, Stan said we needed a regular sump pump (to act as an ejector pump, as I understand it) from our basement to the overhead piping. Instead of selling us a system we did not need, he sold us the less expensive heavy duty sump pump instead of battery backup type. While in the pit, he told my husband that our check valve was not very sturdy and he highly recommended a new heavy duty check valve to be installed. Otherwise, we may find our selves with sewage leaking into our basement. We elected to have the new check valve installed.

Stan Halan came out later the same day I called about my back up battery constant beeping. He evaluated the situation and after some checks and balances decided it was the monitoring system that was malfunctioning. Earlier that week, I had called another company and when he came out he saw that I hadn't replenished the water in the battery cells. I did not know I was supposed to do that, so even when they were refilled the battery only tested at 70%. He gave it a boost to 100%. I called him again when it began beeping again the next day. He told me he didn't know what else to do and I should call the company who had installed it 3 years ago. I found out they had gone out of business! Anyway, Stan talked to to me about the various types of backup systems and I agreed that I would rather pay more upfront and have it work flawlessly for years. It was already late afternoon on Friday. Stan called the supply company for the new pump system and we planned for it to be installed on the next Tuesday, because I already had plans for Monday. Stan showed me how to remove the fuses, and unplug it to stop the beeping in the meantime. If we had a downpour I could just redo the fuses and plug. Tuesday Stan came right on the appointed time and layed down tarps so as not to get my carpet to the basement dirty. He explained everything to me, and gave me the manuals and the warranty card to send in for my 3 year guarantee. He also gave me a 1 year guarantee on his workmanship. He was done and cleaned up in under 2 hours. My new system does not need maintenace, you can tell everything is alright by a green light, but no beeping!

original pump of 20+ years gave it up. The sump pump switch stopped working. Called 2 providers from Angieslist. Halan had the time to come out in the afternoon and fix it. Replaced the sump pump and explained what he was doing. Was meticulous in his work and tested everything. At the end, he even looked at my ejector pump and fixed the float at no charge (the previous owner had jimmied the float to work and it was very erratic in its operation). Took about 90 min for the whole process and was very plesant to work with. Halan & Co is a small father-son business and does not use employees. So you know you have an experienced plumber doing the work for you.

We have been using them for seven years. We use them habitually, and we still use them. They are very excellent and very professional. Also, their price is good.

He came on time, was very courteous and cleaned up afterward.. Very nice and professional.
