I wanted to share my experience with Ahrens & Condill HVAC company and specifically with Scott, since he was my primary contact. I contacted them and talked to Scott about the heat issue in my apartment. I knew exactly what needed to be done, as the maintenance person from my building had already inspected it and told me exactly what repairs need to take place. In my phone conversation with Scott, I explained everything to him in details and sent him pictures. He mentioned that he would still need to come out to inspect my unit before repairs could take place. When I asked him, sure, but could you please do the repair in one visit. He said no, justifying it that that’s how it is usually done and I will need to pay $140 just for the first visit. I agreed to it. When he came in he literally spent 10 min at my place because, again, I had told him what needed to be done from the beginning and even sent him what he needed to bring with him. So I literally paid $140 for nothing. We then agreed that he will order necessary parts for the repair and will send his guys to do it. When I asked how much it would cost - he said that it’s $150 per hour. So it solely depends on the time it takes to finish the job. I said ok and agreed to it. A week later Scott texted me saying that he received all necessary parts and ready to schedule repair visit. He also added that this work will cost $825. I was shocked with the cost and asked him how did he even come up with this number, since he told me that final cost solely depended on time duration and they only charge per hour, which is $150 per hour. He said that the material is part of the cost. I know for a fact that the material is no more than $100, so I asked him how much is the material. He didn’t even bother explaining it and just said that his company works on flat rate pricing and they don’t break it down per part and labor. Which was a complete lie and scam because initially he stated that they only charge per hour and that’s how final cost gets calculated. Basically he wanted me to pay $826 + $140 (which I had already paid) = $966 for something that should not take more than 1-2 hours and should be around $300-$400 with labor and material. I am being completely transparent about my experience with them and particularly with Scott. Because I want to ensure that no one else gets fooled by them and spend money for nothing. I am also attaching my conversation with Scott in text messages for full transparency. Stay away from this company and from Scott in particular ❗️❗️❗️They just want to fool you and overcharge you for nothing. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in this day and age.

Very professional, explained and showed me how old weathered and bare wires in our outdoor a/c unit had caused a power surge that blew the capacitors both inside and out. It’s a 25 year old a/c unit so I was sure we were in for a replacement. They got it up and running again within an hour or so. Very happy we didn’t have to replace the whole unit. Works great and would definitely recommend these guys.

The person setting up the appointments asked good basic questions, and let us know what to expect. When there was a slight delay on arrival time for the repair, we got a call well in advance to let us know what to expect. The repair person did a wonderful job of letting us know what was being done and why. This proved very valuable when a few days later the furnace stopped again, and we were able to get it working. The replacement of the units was scheduled, and when they learned that our furnace had gone out again, and two other clients weren't going to be able to have work done as planned, we got moved into one of those slots. The workers arrived promptly. They obviously knew what they were doing. After scoping the details, they asked for our input on a couple of matters regarding where pipes and exhausts would run. It took most of the day, as expected. They minimized the mess (though I did some more clean-up after they left). Materials were picked up by a recycler, which I greatly appreciated that they had made those arrangements. The furnace has been functioning well. There has not been an opportunity for a long term test of the A/C. The town inspector approved the work.

For 21 yrs they've serviced our furnace & AC twice a yr, as scheduled, no mess, no fuss. When the AC sprung a leak & lost all ccolant, the owner came out with our complete maintenance history, didn't push to replace furnace but we decided to do it. They couldn't install the new equipment for a week, but he had add'l coolant installed without charge so we were comfortable in the 90 temps. The installation went as quickly, cleanly and smoothly as the maintenance.

Came out right away and were very professional.

I met with Tim on Oct. 3rd. He explained all the options for a new furnace/AC system and the pros and cons of each. He made a recommendation of the equipment that he thought would do best in our house based on square footage and how we use our furnace and AC. Tim wrote up the order, took care of getting the building permits, and the install date was set for Nov. 13th. The installation day went very smoothly. Two techs arrived right on time and worked all day - each person taking over parts of the installation process which included work inside and outside. At the end of the day, they walked my husband and I through the new equipment and answered all of our questions. The system has been working great - we are so thankful we got this done before we had this very cold winter! Tim had also written up the sales order to take into account the rebates from the electric company, gas company, and the furnace company, so they did all the work to get those rebates processed and we just paid the remaining balance.

They were punctual and they fixed the problem.

My Aprilaire was leaking water. He diagnosed the problem, fixed it and notice that my furnace had not been cleaned in 9 years. Offered to clean it at a reduced rate. No hard sell. I really needed it cleaned. Did the work thoroughly and left everything working great. Very satisfied.

A for all of the above reasons.

He was here for less than an hour with the install. He knew what he was doing and took good care of the problem.

Serviceman was prompt courteous and knowledgeable. I signed up as a regular customer and scheduled a service call to clean and check my air conditioner in the spring.

It went very well. Gentlemen were very professional and work was completed in a timely fashion.

Ahrens & Condill Heating & Air Conditioning Company has serviced us in the past that’s why we contacted them for the quote. They are very professional. Their quote was straightforward. They stand by their product. They are probably the ones who would end up installing the heating & cooling unit for us.

The job was easy and extremely painless. Overall, I have always been very pleased with Ahrens & Condill.

All outfits that I called charge an additional weekend fee. I called Ahren's and one of their technicians called us back. My son explained the issue we were having with our pilot light on our furnace and the technician asked what the brand of the furnace was. He was able to solve the problem over the phone for us and stayed on the line for 10-15 walking my son through as he relit the pilot. He saved us money by giving the information over the phone rather than getting us for a service charge. It has been a pleasant experience and I would not hesitate to use Ahren's again for my HVAC needs.

Job went well. Performed work as promised.

Always an easy thing to do -- the service person always arrives on time and I since I have them checking my H & A I have never had any breakdowns. There sceduling is always convienient and never have any problems.

The technician did a very nice job explaining what was wrong and my options.

I was pleased that they came out quickly and fixed the problem without delay. I have found this company to be completely reliable and competitive in pricing.

It was very good. They were very efficient. It was probably the second or third we have hired them. The people are very friendly and good at explaining everything and very good at answering questions.

I would recommend this company to other people who are in need of this type of service. I will also say that I have been a customer with them for a long time and I think that is why they have been so good to us. There is nothing that I don't like about them.

Day of closing unit was not working. A & C was called out to repair -we were told over the phone that there was not a leak in unit. 2 weeks later air was not working, found out they never checked for leak, even though they had advised the previous owner that there was a leak. My complaint was that I closed on this house based on their report that everything was okay - no leak. Their technician was told not to divulge information to us - he not only didn't divulge he lied. We have already spent 542.00 on service calls and we also need a new evaporator coil. Said he would put in coil for $650.00 - a $250.00 discount. My repairman at my old home said he would replace coil for same price - called A & C asked for 250.00 credit for past service calls and I would replace coil with my guy - they refused. The owner of this company seems like a nice man, but the service manager seems to make all the decisions and is very unreasonable and defensive. I believe he is trying to cover himself.

I chose Ahrens after taking four bids. The company delivered and performed as agreed. The Ahrens sales rep and installers were excellent. There was no suprises and the furnace is equal to my expectations. I am very satisfied!

Ahrens & Condill's repair man was right on time and was well prepared. He was very professional and courteous. He came with boot covers for his shoes, and put them on as soon as he came in. I felt the price that was presented was fair.
