Markus Cabinet Mfg. Co., Inc

The first experience with them was about 30 years ago when they built the original cabinets in the house. 60 years ago, they built cabinets in my parents house in Illinois, and I had them build the cabinets in our house back when we built it in 1987. The job took almost a year. The experience was great. The amount of time that they took, the measurements, and the things that they did in order to get the cabinets to get as high up to the top of the ceiling that they could, even though we had pipes that they could not move, they literally went out of their way to make a solitary kitchen. They did all of the building of the cabinets, and they sub contracted out the installation of the cabinets. It just happens that they contracted the work out to two of the other Marcus brothers. They did an exceptional job, and I think they did a better job than if I had gotten a standard carpenter to put it in. They knew how each piece went in. We had changes in the last minute, and they were very good about it. It took them 5 days to get the kitchen in. They were going in a room which only had the sheet rock and the floors, and the ceiling.

On these particular cabinets, because of the round doors on it, they had to go to another manufacturer to get the round doors made. Once they were made, they stained them with the same stain that they had used in the kitchen. They did one cabinet which is very unique. The way it was going in, it wasn't going to be anything tricky. They were the only company that we could find in the St. Louis area that could do something totally custom.
