Two Brothers Residential Maintenance & Service

They replaced some rotten timbers on the deck. They had to wait for the wood to actually cure, because it was pressure treated wood, before they stained it, and they didn't do that till the following spring. There were some minor issues. They came on a day that I told them not to come because it was supposed to rain, to stain the deck. They did it anyway. It wasn't raining. But, two hours after they left, it poured. The very next day, I went out there and all of the paint on the horizontal surfaces was all bubbled up. The owner said that when it dries up, it'll all suck back. I said, "Maybe so. But, there's not going to be good adhesion to that, based on the fact that it didn't get a chance to cure on to the wood itself." In other words, it just sucked back down because the water dissipated from inside. He came out and looked at it and acknowledged the problems. There were some problems with a little bit of sloppy work. But, they also came out and fixed that. In addition, they have a product which they are going to use, which is pretty much impervious to any kind of abrasion or winter wear or weather wear or that type of thing. I don't know why they didn't use it in the first place. He said if I have problems in the future to just give them a call and they'll come back and redo the surfaces of the deck with that particular product. They only gave a year warranty on this work. So, I said, "This might not happen in a year. It might happen a year and a day and I'm out of luck." So, he extended it to a three year warranty, which I'm happy with. That seems fair. If it lasts three years, then I'm satisfied. He was very courteous and very professional. The people that actually came out and did the work were courteous. They were cordial. But, they missed some spots and I had to point them out. They didn't do some things that they should have done. But they did come back and fix it. They wanted to address the problem and make sure that I was happy about it, which at this point I am, plus I have a three year warranty on the thing. There were two services done, one to repair the deck surface and replace the wood and the other one was deck painting. The deck painting was about $650 and the other one was about the same. The whole project was about $1000 plus. It was a fair price based on what I got. He was quite responsive and they were on time.

I am not happy with the results I had using Two Brothers. I will list the Pros and the Cons and the reader can make up their own mind if they want that kind of service. I dealt with the owner on this project PROS He explained what they were going to do The crew was very friendly / courteous The color was what I had expected They did a good job of masking off the house Good job of sanding the deck boards Cons They used a high pressure hose to remove the old stain. Unfortunately the high pressure also raised the grain of the wood. I had noticed this on some of the wood and the crew said they would fix it. they did not There was overspray on the entire landscape area They got overspray on the ceiling of the gazebo . ( that area was to be left natural ) They missed spraying at least 25 spots They took the easy way out and used a spray gun instead of using brushes to professionally do the job The owner did not came back to see if I was satisfied with the job. No supervision during the job. The owner never once came by to check on things After they had left, I went out and noticed the overspray and the numerous spots that they missed. I called the owner and to his credit he and the crew came back the following work day. I showed him the damage to the landscape and the missed spots. The crew did fix the over spray and got most of the spots that I had indicated. I had put blue painters tape over the missed areas and before I knew it, one of the crew took off all the tape before they pained those areas. Because of that, they missed some of the sports I indicated with the tape. I would never used them again. Why? Because they take the easy way out and use a spray gun to apply the paint instead of doing a professional job with brushes. If they had taken the time to use brushes, they would not have had the over spray problem and would not have missed so many spots. I spent a day of my time painting the spots that they missed and I also had to sand down some sections of the deck rails where the power washer raised the grain. I did not call them back because I was disgusted with them, and the methods they use. I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE CONSIDERING A DECK PAINT/STAIN NOT TO USE A HIGH PRESSURE HOSE IT DAMAGED MY WOOD. AT LEAST IN MY CASE. USE OF A SPRAY GUN WAS THE WRONG WAY TO GO. I WILL NEVER HIRE ANYONE WHO USES THAT METHOD TO APPPLY PRODUCT.

Chuck was recommended by the company that installed our fence. Two Brothers did a great job from initial contact to estimate to installation. We are very happy with how good the fence looks. Thank You

What can I say? Professional, quality work performed exactly when and how I expected. No issues with any part of the process.

For years I power washed and stained the deck myself. With two dogs, within a couple of weeks there were scratches in the stain and it looked like I never stained it. So I found Two Brothers and decided to have professionals stain the deck this year. After some initial scheduling issues, not Chuck's fault but the weather (every time they were going to come out, the weather turned and it rained or threatened to rain), finally we got the deck done in late May. Not sure what is the process or stain that they use but my deck looks as good today (September) at the end of summer as the day Two Brothers completed it. I will never do this myself and next time I need the deck done, I will be calling Chuck. Sorry Chuck, it may be a couple of years before I need this again which is a compliment to you, but when I do, you will be my only call. Thanks and good work.

Originally when I received the quote and turned my deposit in back in June, I was told that the work was expected to be done on 8/21/15. I received a call (on August 27) a few days before they were going to come out. The woman on phone said they would be out on Monday to power wash and I would receive a call to find out our stain color choice. They did come out on Monday, and then I got a call on Wednesday to find out our color choice for the painting to be done on Friday. They did paint the deck, but it clearly states in the contract that "any protruding nails" would be taken care of and everything was not cleaned up. They left behind a couple of clamps and a wad of tape. We were looking forward to not having anymore nails sticking up, unfortunately that did not happen. Also, the wood they put on the top rail was not sanded and is very scratchy. I called when I got home to voice my concerns and I thought I would receive a call back. I realize it was a long holiday weekend, but today, Tuesday, I still didn't receive a call back. Meanwhile, we haven't moved anything back on our deck hoping and waiting for them to return to finish the job. Communication and thoroughness seem to be some issues this company needs to work on. I expected more from an Angie's List provider.

The worker's showed up as scheduled and completed the project on time. Their work is very professional. Chuck, the owner is always responsive to phone calls and emails and followed up to make sure that the job was completed to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company for any deck projects!

When we first contacted them in 2013 they did a great job on our deck!! It is about 1,000 square feet with a gazebo and bar that both have shaker shingles. It is a huge job and takes a good company to power wash and stain something so big. We were very pleased. Last fall we tried to have them to quote us on having some repairs done on the deck and to have it re-stained. We never got a call back or a visit from them. We found another company to do the repairs and called them again this summer to have it stained this year. We were told they are very backed up (due to the rain) and couldn't get here till this fall. That was fine, but they still have not come out to give us a quote on the job. My guess is that their business has grown too big to handle the demand. It is very frustrating to try to get a good company to do maintenance work around the house. I couldn't recommend them anymore and wouldn't trust they would get the job done on a timely manner.

The job started in April but due to the rainy spring and early summer could not be completed till August 1st. They did not try to rush the job just to get paid, but waited until the weather co-operated. While that took a long time I appreciated them waiting until the right time to complete. Also to protect my house and landscape they wrapped the side of my house in plastic and draped drop clothes on the plants and brick area before they sprayed the deck. I was very impressed. I can't say enough about how happy I am and how great the deck looks.

They convinced me that the porch didn't need to be stripped and they had a special paint that would fill in the cracked paint already on the floor and wall. Had them apply another coat when the paint didn't live up to the hype. However, the additional coat didn't do much to solve the problem. Should have had them strip the whole thing like I initially requested. Not good when two paint colors meet. It looks like they poorly free handed these areas. Also, difficult to schedule. Even after they committed to specific days and took time off, the changed up the schedule and did much of the work on the weekends. I didn't need to waste that week of vacation after all. Would have been nice to know this upfront. BTW - the final cost will be higher than the quote.

Weather caused delays and when work startred it was completed in timely fashion. Pricing was competitive. Quality was outstanding

After rebuilding my deck last spring I was not interested in doing the staining myself. (Smart enough to know my limitations). I contacted a few companies and decided on Two Brothers due to the thoroughness of their quote and reviews I had read on Angie's List. They came out, prepped everything including wrapping over 100 metal spindles and then the spraying began. We went with a dark brown for the deck and skirting and white for the railings. It looks amazing. After discovering some areas that peeled up this spring I contacted Chuck and he did not hesitate to get me some touch up stain even though it was over 6 months later. I will definitely hire them again the next time it needs to be done.

They did a lot of free hand painted at the corners, and moldings. This would be fine if they could do it, but the got paint on the other different color areas and did try to clean ti up. It was not bad, but they didn't tape off areas and for the money the job was less than professional.

What you look for in a service provider is quality at a fair price, and a company that stands behind their work. Two Brothers is just such a company. They do high quality work at a reasonable price, and when things happen (in our case, the deck stain failed after approximately 10 months and an extremely harsh winter) they stand behind their work and make it right. We were extremely pleased with all of their people, but Chuck K. stood out in particular as the kind of person who is a pleasure to do business with. They will be the only company we contact for any similar work in the future.

With our previous vendor no longer staining decks, we joined Angie's List to find a new contractor. We secured 3 quotes, all within $100 of each other, but there were 2 reasons why we selected Two Brothers: Chuck Kurth and the detailed quote he provided. Chuck was very outgoing, flexible with meeting times, and provided great customer service. He left behind a detailed quote, along with materials for us to peruse; the detailed quote gave us confidence in their work. Given a very wet spring, Two Brothers was unable to meet their original timeline (work to be completed by 5/15), but Chuck and team were very communicative and provided potential options along the way. Once we aligned on a date, they delivered...not only on meeting that timeline but A+ quality work. The Two Brothers crew arrived on 5/23 at approximately 9am and spent the better part of 3 hours preparing our deck, taping and wrapping all of the decorative spindles (>100 spindles) on our deck (and 2 gates), along with the lights and outlets on the deck. They also covered all landscaping adjacent to the deck, our fence (to prevent overspray getting on the fence), covered our firepit that is ~12 feet from the deck, and covered/protected our pool to prevent overspray as well. Once prepped, the work went fast, but was very professionally done. I'm a stickler for good work and have high standards and the Two Brothers crew met and exceeded them. Upon completion of applying 2 coats and the stain drying, the crew proceeded to unwrap all spindles (remember, there >100 decorative spindles), and then took all garbage away. Honestly, other than a great looking finished product (a newly stained deck), you would not even know the crew had been there (ie. no paint on spindles, no spills on the grass, no garbage left over). The crew was very courteous, answered all my questions, and was pleasant to be around (and even played with our dog as he barked endlessly throughout the job). I would highly recommend using Two Brothers for your project and we look forward to working with them again on future projects.

Slight mixup on the contact phone numbers, but it all worked out & Chuck was out here 2 days after initial contact to do the estimate. He set my mind at ease that the deck itself was solid, no need for replacement. He also recommended ( & ended up installing) extra posts for the rail, as the deck is above ground level & required extra support because it's quite long. Very happy with the work & would use them again.

I have it scheduled. I did a contract with them. The work hasn't commenced. My interaction with him was excellent. He was very responsive. He was very prompt.

Two Brothers provided a fast and accurate quote for the work to be perfomed. Chuck called and scheduled the work start and duration. The crew showed up on the date and started work immediately. The crew kept us informed of all the work progress. They made sure everything was cleaned up at the end of the day. The work was scheduled for 3 days and was finished in 2 days. The whole experiance with Two Brothers was exceptional. The work was completed to our satisfaction. I would use them again for my projects and highly recommend them to anyone. It was a pleasure working with a company that exhibited the level of professionalism and honesty.

They completed the work and came back to go over the details of the work to make sure that I was satisfied. I plan for them to come back and do my porch in the spring and hope that it looks as good as the work that they did on my deck and fence. My daughter is planning to get her porch done by them when she is ready to get that work done. There was a time that there was some miss communicated information, but they did call back to set up a different time and date. The work was completed in a very timely matter and the cost was very reasonable. The workers were very respectful of my yard and cleaned up very well after they were done. I would definably recommend them to my friends and am and will use them in the future.

Service was excellent. Chuck was very responsive and timely in providing an estimate and scheduling the work. It is always a pleasure to do business with anyone is responsive and flexible. I added the patio to the scope of work at the last minute and Chuck was more than happy to turnaround the estimate quickly and include in the job for the driveway.

When they power washed the deck, they hit my aluminum frames on the windows and it took the paint off. I wish they would have brought that to my attention. Secondly, the stain they put on the railings took very well but it did not take very well on the upper deck. I may have to re-do that part. Their pricing was very decent and they seemed to be competitive. The crew was clean and tidy.

Their price was fair. They were knowledgeable and did research to find a proper siding. The house is 22 years old. They are professional, have good quality and explained how they will do the work. The have quick email responses. I would call him and I would get a call back within a few hours. The estimate was professionally done.
