They are a good company. The experience has been pretty good.

We had serious damage to our fascia & aluminum soffit. Swistun ended up doing a fantastic job repairing that damage ($1,150). (See our review under "Siding.") The work was delayed a month due to cold, ice and snow; however, they came to the house at least eight times to clear the ice and snow from our roof & gutters in order to prevent further damage. This was done at no extra cost. Chris Ryba seemed really worried about further damage from the ice, so much so that I would have thought it was his own home! When I hired Swistun, I had concerns that they were in the suburbs and I was in the city. Judging by the number of times they came out to check on the damage, this was no factor at all. Let me tell you, I was impressed.

I WAS STRESSED ABOUT THE DAMAGE TO MY HOME, BUT DEALING WITH THIS CONTRACTOR MADE IT A LOT EASIER ON ME. From several bids, we chose Swistun to install new gutters in September 2009. They did a terrific job, so this winter (2014) I asked them to bid (along with others) on damaged wood fascia and aluminum soffit on the south side of our home. Thanks to this horrible winter season, the buildup of ice tore about 8 feet of wood fascia off the house and left the aluminum soffit hanging. (It was good to see that at least the gutters that Swistun had installed previously had stayed in place and attached to the fascia.) For the second time, Chris Ryba of Swistun showed up on time to take a look at the situation. I was impressed with his comments, some of which the other contractors didn?t mention upon inspection. I had my concerns about choosing Swistun because they are located in Arlington Heights and I am in Chicago. That ended up being no factor at all. I paid the deposit, but because of all the cold, ice, and snow, they were not able to do the work for an entire month. However, Chris made at least eight visits to our house. Every time it snowed, he was checking the status of the damage and removing any ice or snow buildup to prevent more damage?at no extra cost. I could tell he was actually worried (!) about what was happening, like it was his own place. At one point he sent some workers to install something, not sure what, to secure the damaged fascia in place so it wouldn?t break any further from all the added snow and ice (no charge). Finally, after a month, we had one warm day and I was very relieved to see the workers there first thing to start work. When the job was done, it looked like nothing had ever happened. Regarding communication with Swinstun/Chris?each time I called his cell, he always answered immediately and he was always friendly and patient. Also, I liked the fact that their receptionist at the office was nice, responsive and spoke English. Because of the delays, this situation was pretty stressful, but I have to say that because of Swistun?s responsiveness, they made it easier on me. I?ve used other contractors that caused the worry because of continual, unexplained delays or they didn?t stay in touch, etc. I recommend Swinstun highly and would use them again in a heartbeat.

Service was on schedule and very professional. Follow-up and responsiveness were the best part as I was in contact with provider through several forms of media.

They were responsive and professional. I had massive ice build-up in the gutters with a lot of snow behind it. They said they would remove the snow but not the ice because of potential damage. When the 20 feet of gutter came crashing down this week with giant blocks of ice weighing over 100 lbs I can't help but wonder that they should have helped me go down a path that would be less destructive and less expensive.

We hired Swistun to remove the snow from our roof. We had an ice damming problem this winter that caused water to leak into our home. We initially called the company that removed the ice dam to remove the snow after the latest storm, but they never showed up. We then found Swistun on Angie's List and gave them a call. They came out the next day, finished the job promptly, and did excellent work. Additionally, they kept in touch with us by phone to let us know exactly when the crew would be arriving. We were very happy with the job they did and will definitely be calling them. An excellent experience from start to finish. We had them out again this winter and had the same great experience. Claudia in the office is always very helpful and she returns calls promptly.

Casey Swistun and his assistant, Claudia Alvarado, were so good that I was smiling as I wrote the check! I requested estimates from a umber of roofers. Two things that made me choose Swistun were Casey's understanding of "old house" problems and identification of mine and his flexibility on brand of shingles - all others would only work with their preferred brand (brand varied per roofer, though). This was important because I had a particular shingle in mind to create the "look" I wanted for my home. Other things I liked; thorough inspection, including attic; patience in answering questions; accessibility; and professionalism of staff, contract and business practices ; and gracious services. When you have limited knowledge of technical information and conducting business with a contractor, it is important to find someone you feel you can trust. Casey is a person you can trust to work in your best interest and to do the job right.

They arrived at the time that was arranged and they were very courteous and friendly. They also answered any questions I had and I will also have them come out this spring or summer to do some work on my gutters. Claudia is the woman who handles the schedule and she is very friendly and keeps you up to date on your appointment. I highly recommend them!

Good. The guys came on time, went right to work, and left when finished. They worked hard their entire time here.

Job could not have gone better. Live person answered phone. Was promised Wednesday as a service date, Tuesday as possible. On Tuesday morning received call that crew could be there shortly. The crew was polite and did work as quickly as possible.

It went very well. Casey was extremely communicative during the whole process, which was really wonderful. He would call us about any changes that might need to be made during the work and discuss options with us. The work done by Casey and his crew was great and Casey was very knowledgable and helpful with recommendations. Also, he was responsive to concerns we had after the work was completed. He would come out to the house, review the work, discuss options and make any necessary changes. We really appreciated Casey's dedication to his work and how well it all turned out. After he did this work for us, we hired him again to install gutters on our garage - definitely a testament to how much we enjoyed working with Casey. Finally, the office manager, Claudia is excellent. She was very professional and friendly on the phone and always called us back in a timely manner. A great experience all around.

Great - very responsive and very respectful

Swistun was excellent. They responded within a day or two after my call and they let us know when to expect the crew on the day of the work. The two man crew were very professional and completed the work within a short time frame (critical as the clock was ticking). Thought that the cost after the first 30 min was a but much but worth it to get the job done. A very good experience and we are going to use them to replace the gutters and downspouts in the spring.

I researched several companies on Angie's list and I'm so glad I chose Swistun. We have a tri-level home where the roof design results in ice damming whenever we have a very heavy snow. The last time this happened was 8 years ago, so we knew what we were in for this time. After trying to melt the ice ourselves with snow melt and the "panty hose trick" with no success, I decided to try having the roof shoveled to prevent any more damage from occurring. A brief warm up in the weather had already caused a leak to form inside. With another thaw predicted for the weekend, I was anxious to prevent more damage to my drywall and ceiling. I called Swistun, and their friendly operator explained their services and pricing. The offered same day service for an extra cost, which we opted not to pay for since the weather forecast predicted cold weather for the next few days. I received a return call an hour later explaining that they could fit us in the schedule that day for the regular price. Of course we agreed, and their crew showed up promptly and followed our directions exactly. We only wanted the bottom level shoveled (where the ice damming was present) to keep the cost down. We were given a detailed receipt with the time of arrival and completion so there would be no surprises when the bill arrived in the mail. I would not hesitate to call them again. I am sure that we prevented more interior damage by having the snow shoveled off the roof. This is the type of company that we all hope to find on Angie's List!

We are very pleased with the professional manner in which this service was handled from the first call to the finish of the job. The office people were very pleasant and extremely helpful. They were prompt, efficient, and carefully explained all that they were going to do to clean our roof off of 15 inches of snow. The price was fair for the work done. We would certainly use Swistun again.

Although we did not proceed with the work, we were very pleased with the professional courtesy and timely response. We will definitely give them a call back, once we can get some of the other home improvements done.

i was disappointed with the work. The front of the house the fascia was bubbly all along. The metal looked stained. I contacted them and let them know. I was told they would come out and follow up with me after they checked out the job. A few weeks later I had ice all along the gutter and my window had ice all over it from the water not draining properly.

Great. They were incredibly responsive to all of our questions. They fully stand by their work before and after. I found it impressive that they were proactive in making sure we knew our rights as the customer.

There was a slow start to bidding the job since we changed our spec from hangers being every 24" to 18". All the other bidders bid on 18" spacing and swistun at first was going to install hangers every 24". We paid a few dollars extra, but had installation at every 18" There was some delay at first on starting the job because of availability of materials. There was some problem contacting our sales representative. Calls were not returned in a timely fashion until we started talking with Claudia Alvarado, who did an excellent job getting back to us or having the sales rep contact us. The work was done in a professional manner. All left over debris and materials were hauled away and our site was left clean. From all indications the InvisiGuard is doing a good job keeping our gutters from clogging with leaves and debris. Overall we were satisfied with the job. Thanks Claudia for your help.
