Matrix Basement Finishing

Very pleased with the quality of this project. Even when there were needed changes and hiccups our project manager Dan always went above and beyond to accommodate. The project was completed ahead of schedule and they were flexible in allowing us to use our own people for certain things which really helped us. When it came to pricing they worked very hard to make sure we were at a comfortable place for financing. We will work with them again and have referred others to them as well. Cant wait to use their new Garage services!

Shawn Sheedy was awesome to work with. If there was any issues he was quick to solve the problem. Jose who did most of our custom work was amazing. He provided us with exactly the vision that we wanted. We would definitely us them again. Our only criticism is we wish we had better communitcation in the design process (with Joe Degrave) and more frequent updates.

The project was completed on time and the finished basement is beautiful.

Before signing a contract with Matrix get a lawyer We signed a contract with Matrix to finish our basement more than 3 months ago. The contract amount was more than $57,000 and we (foolishly) agreed to put $17,000 down. It started ok with the salesman but soon turned very ugly when we discovered that he was lying to us. This became obvious as soon as we visited the company’s new “showroom” which is nothing but an office, with very little to show. Limited flooring, limited countertops, limited cabinetry, nothing that was acceptable to us. Three weeks after that we met with the project manager, which was when many more lies and exaggerations came to light. It became obvious that we have to change plans, so I asked to get a list of all the charges, so we would know how to change what at what price. But to that the project manager answered “this is not how we do our business.” For a time we tried to work with the project manager through email but communication was very difficult due to misunderstandings and long delays. Eventually we realized that Matrix Basements was hiding important information from us. Why aren’t they willing to show a breakdown of the prices, how much for wall construction, how much for electrical, ceiling, bathroom, etc. The only possible reason for them to hide their prices is that they are so unreasonable, they know we would immediately cancel the project. It became clear that this would be a hellish project working with a company that lies and hides information from us. As they had not started doing any work, not even applied for a village permit, the best and only choice was to cancel the project. I wrote to the project manager that we are cancelling the project and he forwarded my massage to his supervisor, who presented himself as the sales manager. After a long telephone conversation, he agreed to send a detailed itemized list of all the charges. Yet, it took a long wait and 2 reminders, for him to finally send a very generalized list, nothing like what he agreed to send. He is now refusing to send what he agreed to a few weeks earlier. In this environment of mistrust it will not be possible to work together. Since they have done nothing, there is no reason why they should not agree to cancel the project and pay back the deposit. Matrix is refusing to even discuss returning the money. I hope that Angie’s List can successfully mediate between us; if not, we will have to go to court. So be careful! Don’t succumb to the strong pressure to sign on the first visit, it’s all a theatre trick that Matrix is very experienced with. Don’t let them push you into a trap as they pushed us.

Matrix transformed our basement from a rough storage room to a beautifully finished family room with a georgeous wine cellar as the centerpiece. Work was first rate, done well and on time. My wife and I enjoyed every phase of our interactions with the Matrix team. We were especially grateful for Benjamin's virtually daily oversight of the teams working in phases, and his responsiveness to our questions and concerns. Our basement is now a stunnig showpiece! Matrix finished out the remainder of our basement. Our GC, Ben was great and part of the difference between this being a 5* review and not a 4* review. Final product looks good and I would use again.

Our basement was a poorly done DIY job by the past owners and as a result, it became more of a storage area than a living space. Matrix transformed the old basement into a new, warm and inviting living space that we know will become the favorite place for family and friends to gather. From start to finish, working with the Matrix team was a smooth and easy process. Our project manager, Ben, did an excellent job of keeping us informed every step of the way, answering our questions and making small adjustments to the plan on the fly. The craftsmanship by the framing, insulating, drywall, electrical, painting and finish carpentry crews was top notch. Our only regret is that we didn’t do this sooner. I highly recommend Matrix.

Very well, however beware of Sales person telling you thing will be included that aren't in price

I have not had the opportunity to use Matrix for my basement remodel because the company cancelled every appointment they confirmed with me. 3 times. First time, it was due to the specialist getting held up at the previous appointment. Second time, it was because the specialist was "Sick", and the third time was due to scheduling complications. When I called each time, they expressed their apologies and said that it wouldn't happen again. This last time they cancelled, I spoke with a gentleman names Adam who then goes on to tell me that the company is taking on more business than they can handle (a statement that does nothing for my inconvenience as the consumer). Then begins to analyze my notes from my inquiry to explain why my basement would not be a good fit for their company because it's an older basement (according to pictures from zillow). Few things regarding that: 1. If that was the case from the beginning, why not tell me that upfront instead of having me lose out on my paycheck to only have my appointment cancelled. 2. You completed an assessment on a basement from pictures on Zillow instead of the appointment? I can't help but to feel as if, they pulled up my address and saw the two pictures of the basement from 2018... and decided that my basement isn't big enough to be on their radar and if that IS the case. I would've appreciated this be told to me instead of my time being completely wasted and no one care. As a consumer, this really is frustrating, now i've lost three weeks, lost some of my working income after taking time off for the appointments, and still have no project started. Matrix Home Solutions is deceiving business and is not upfront with their business practices. Honestly, I'm kind of glad that they chose not to do my basement because i probably saved myself a bunch of headaches and overspending. Please be careful of this company!!

Matrix Basement Finishing Systems completed my project on 8/26/20 ahead of schedule. The entire team was easy to work with, on schedule, and professional. Their quality of work, attention to detail, and making sure all of their workers were following CDC guidelines during this pandemic was a relief. I had no concerns throughout the process and was very impressed with the entire team walking us through each phase of the project to ensure we were satisfied. We enjoyed working with Brian Dagenais, Production Manager, who helped bring our project concept to reality. Their Field Manager, Victor Barron, was very engaged, responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure the project was 100% to our satisfaction and completed on time. Overall, we are incredibly pleased with the entire project and looking forward to enjoying our newly finished basement. I highly recommend Matrix and their entire team.

The supervisor for the project (Victor) did a fantastic job keeping us informed regarding the schedule, delays, and potential issues. He was also willing to step in to complete the work when necessary to keep the project on schedule.

Having matrix manage the remodel of my basement was the best decision! They handled all of the contractors and supplies. The basement is exactly the way we wanted!

Matrix Basement Finishing Systems created a great area for our family and friends to enjoy. Their quality of work and professionalism is superb, and they completed our basement on time and on budget! We were really impressed with their overall quality of work and attention to detail. Their lead supervisor Victor was attentive and engaged throughout the entire project to ensure each facet of the job was not only finished but completed correctly. Temo, our lead installer was excellent in his approach to everything from framing the walls, installing the doors and cabinetry, and installing the window and drywall. Also, their electricians and plumbers did a great job and were always on time and met their required schedules. Overall, we are incredibly pleased with the entire project as each team member was professional, thorough and courteous. The quality and workmanship typified their dedication in ensuring customer satisfaction. Matrix is a great contractor, provides quality workmanship, and we are very satisfied with our finished basement!

Matrix and their whole team was great to work with: everyone was very respectful and efficient, and we hardly knew they were hard at work as our routines were barely interrupted. They were communicative, as well as glad to pivot on a task or make a revision to the original plan as the process moved along in order to meet the basement's changing needs as it all came together. I would say we would gladly work with them again, but this basement was a one-and-done deal. :)

The project was started on time but once we were nearing the end, the work quality decreased. We were then contacted by the company to schedule our "showing". I explained that our project was not completed. They did send a different workman out at that point who did finish one of the problem areas but that was the last we heard from them. So $50,000 later we don't have the completed project.
