Overall, the project went very well. Carol worked with us very closely on the design. The original timeline for the job was 3-4 weeks. It actually took a little over 4 weeks, but that was due mostly due to additional tasks that we requested. I was very impressed with the work of the tradesmen. It was a very professional job throughout. The final cost was a little bit over the initial estimate, but, again, most of that was due to additional tasks that we requested during the project. I was very happy with their work and would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of our kitchen, including dismantling the old kitchen, design of the new kitchen, installation of cabinets, plumbing, electrical work and painting.
I chose Kitchen Village to do this work because they previously had done work on my bathrooms. I was extremely satisfied with that work as I am with the work they just completed in my kitchen. This is a company that is a pleasure to work with. I came to them with ideas of what I wanted to do and the budget I wanted to work with. They worked tirelessly guiding me through the numerous options available. They provided a lot of advice and always worked to find a way to provide what I truly wanted. They explained the pros/cons of the various choices I could make. Once I had made a choice, they supported me in every way possible. They never tried to push me in a direction that I did not want to go. Throughout the design process I changed my mind numerous times as I continued to learn and they were always very accommodating. The people who did the actual work were all very skilled and a easy to work with. I was very impressed at how well they worked with each other. They always took whatever time needed to do the job right and never took any shortcuts. Whenever there were options on how things could be done, they checked with me on how I would prefer to have it done. Everyone seemed to be very proud of their work and were anxious to please me. Once the work started they continued working every day until it was complete. They cleaned the work area every night and hauled away refuse daily. The designer and owner of Kitchen Village constantly came out to my house checking on the progress and getting my feedback on how things were going. This is a company you want to work with. They will be my only choice for any future remodeling.
Description of Work: Kitchen Village replaced my floors in the kitchen, foyer, and laundry room with Congoleum tile. They installed maple kitchen cabinets with dovetail drawers and pullouts. All lower/cabinets and drawers now have full extension pullouts and soft close doors. They installed quartz counter tops with an under mount sink. They installed puck lights over all counter tops along with a light rail and back panels.

I called them and they said they only service a 10 mile radius. I am not that far from them I would say about 15 miles. I don't understand why they are in the magazine if they only service a 10 mile radius. They look like a nice company and they were polite in speaking to me.

I am thrilled with Kitchen Village and everyone who works there! Jim is a great designer and very patient. He discusses all the options available for your particular project. He will not pressure you into making a quick decision. He gives you whatever time you need to be comfortable with your decision. The installers were pleasant and very professional. The work was excellent and if something needed to be adjusted, there was no problem getting them to come back to the house. In the hallway bathroom, they installed a new tub, vanity, countertop, mirror and medicine cabinet. They replaced the tub walls and tiled those walls as well as installed a tile floor. It was one stop shopping. Jim helps you with everything, while the other contractors told me I would have to go to one store for the tile and go to another store for the hardware and work with different designers. If I needed to go to the store to get a better feel for the options available to me, I was encouraged to do so. In the master bathroom room, they took out the tub and cut a wall down to 36".. New walls were built in the shower area and tiled. Then sliding shower glass doors were installed and the new 1/2 wall had glass installed. This design opened up the bathroom considerably. They also installed a new toliet, vanity, countertop, and mirrored medicine cabinets. The floor was tiled. Then, in the vanity area a new wall was built with a pocket door to separate the bathroom from the master bath. I am so pleased with the looks of everything! Their quote was higher than the other contractors by a $1000 or so, but it was worth every penny! Also, the quote was very accurate and only because of changes on my part did the price go up. Can't wait to use them for my 3rd bathroom.e ori

After two years of looking for a contracter we could trust to remodel our kitchen and laundry room, a neighbor recommended Kitchen Village. Bill, Barbara, Steve and Milan were all a pleasure to work with. Barbara did an excellent job of designing the kitchen and was very helpful in picking out everything from cabinets to countertops and tiles. Bill stayed in touch and stopped by several times to check on the progress. If we had questions Bill and Barb were always available. Kitchen Village completely remodeled our kitchen from floor to ceiling. During the process we made some additions and changes to both the kitchen and laundry room. They were very accomidating and the additional cost incurred was reasonable. We are very pleased not only with the craftmanship, but also with the quality of the materials used. The cabinets, countertops, and tiles and faucets are all excellent. Steve and Milan are perfectionists. They did a wonderful job of installing everything. They did not lay a tile on our squeaky floor until they found and fixed every squeak. They were always on time, worked non stop, left everything neat and clean at the end of every day, and finished two weeks ahead of schedule. When they finished, the kitchen and laundry room were spotless. The staff at Kitchen Village are all professionals. We couldn't be more pleased.
Description of Work: Remodelled Kitchen and Laundry room.
Bill and his design crew (Barb) did and excellent job. We are not the easiest people to deal with but we know what we wanted. Barb was fantastic with the design, it took longer than expected but that was because we took longer to pick out the design. As we have used Bill and his crew before, I requested the same crew we previously had, Bill was happy to comply. Mike and Chris (the crew)are true craftsman and do excellent work. We worked very well together. We have received nothing but compliments on the work that was done. We are very pleased with how the complete job has turned out, the kitchen looks fantastic.

They really did a fantastic job. All of the products they use are of very good quality. They followed through on what they said they were going to do and they were very polite and courteous. The workers were very efficient and finished within the estimated time frame. I appreciated how they always checked in on us with everything, and I would highly recommend them. They weren't too inexpensive, but they were well worth the price.

Once we had decided on the items Bill wrote up the contract and went over it item by item with us to ensure we understood all facets of the work involved. Once we had signed the contract Bill placed the order for the custom vanity so its delivery would trigger when to begin demolition. We receiver about a week's notice as to when work would began and once it did things went quite quickly. The crew arrived at the time stated and began to install various materials to protect the rest of the house during the construction. Rugs were covered with a self-sticking plastic, tile was covered with construction paper tapes down and a floor to ceiling plastic barrier was created from our garage to the bathroom to prevent the spread of dust. Our attached garage was utilized as the work/storage area. As materials were delivered they were neatly stacked. Each afternoon all the debris was removed and garage floor swept and materials restacked neatly. I will have to admit the garage floor was much cleaner each night after they left than before the project began. We were continually kept informed as to who and when thing would be done by the tradesmen who were all extremely skilled and friendly. Whenever any type of issue came up we were informed and given a choice of solutions. Once the new construction began things went quickly. Bill did a great job of scheduling the plumber, electrician and tile setter to do their task without being in the way of other construction or delaying the next phase. The only down time was waiting for the quartz counter top to be produced because since it went wall to wall measurements were not able to be made accurately until the vanity was installed. The finished product was beautiful. I had read the many great reviews of Kitchen Village on Angie's List and I must agree this is an excellent company to work with. There were many little things I noticed about their work.. When they were redoing the plumbing they needed to disconnect one of the outside faucets. Instead of just reconnecting it they replaced it with a new one, Because this room once had a pocket door a normal threshold would have looked funny so the custom crafted a new one from solid oak that looks great. All of the slots in the screws on switch plates are vertical. It may sound trivial but its just an example of the great care they all took with our project.
Description of Work: A complete remodel of the main bathroom right down to the studs. Replace with new double sinks and custom vanity with quartz counter top, new tub and frameless shower doors, porcelain tile floor and tub surround . They also replaces lighting features and exhaust fan and well as bring plumbing up to code.Had several meeting with Bill Barrett at his showroom to select the items for our bathroom. He was very helpful is assisting in pairing items together to obtain the look we desired.

Steve and Milan showed up ontime everyday over the couple of months (with breaks for the holidays). They were tremendous craftsmen and tackled everything including plumbing, tiling, drywall repair, appliance installation, electrical - EVERYTHING - and their commitment to quality work showed. We had them install new tile backsplashes, slide-in range, over oven microwave convection hood, under-cabinet lighting and new outlets in the kitchen. Both upstair bathrooms were completely gutted (goodbye, 70's dusty rose tiles and toilets). They put in new shower and tub plumbing, cement board, tub, shower floor with sliding glass doors, QUIET ceiling fans, tub and shower wall tiles, new tile floors, new toilets, new counter tops and sinks. We are completely satisfied with the finished product. Throughout the remodel everyone at Kitchen Village was pleasant and responsive to our change orders, scheduling conflicts and rectifying the usual glitches that always come with a major remodeling of this size. Steve and Milan were a pleasure to have in our house daily with their constant good humor, respect for our house, and cleaned thoroughly after every day's work. I am kind of hoping I don't have to do any more remodeling as we have been our house over 25 years and with our kids gone we aim to be in something smaller by the time the need comes around again. I will, however, continue to vigorously recommend Kitchen Village to others. Very, very pleased.
Description of Work: This is the 2nd time we have used Kitchen Village, the 1st time was in 1992 when they did a complete gutting and remodel of our kitchen. 20 years later that remodel including the new ceramic floor, cabinets, and countertop still look great today! Based on that experience, we went right back to them when we need an update on the kitchen and both upstair bathrooms remodeled. Barbara was the designer and was a joy to work with, coming up with great suggestions and various cost options. She also recommended a great painter and someone to design and make some valances for us. Once we had made all of our choices, she provided us with a detailed estimate and schedule.

Owner Bill Bartlett and his team were able to define what needed to be done, who would be assigned to the job, and whether he could commit to completion within the time-frame - which he was able to do. Our initial budget was about $15-$16K, which Bill committed to work within. At the outset, he provided a nice range of material and design options for the tile, marble sink top, vanity style, shower features and fixtures, and has a well-organized showroom to work with. He and his team provided great design advice, based on the contemporary look we wanted. They carefully considered the design of the rest of our home to make sure the result integrated well and looked good. His advice approach was to provide options, within the budget range, and the logical reasons to consider each. Advice was honest, with pros and cons clearly explained. For example, we decided on a more expensive thicker shower door glass on his recommendation for durability and appearance - this was a good decision. In the end, we willingly spent a bit more than originally budgeted, based on careful consideration of the options. The result is fantastic. The work proceeded perfectly, with multiple contractors coming in over the course of project - for tile, electrical, plumbing, painting. Schedules were well coordinated from the construction end, and Bill was extremely considerate of our schedule when we needed to be present. Work crews were considerate and always kept the work area meticulously organized and picked up. Bill frequently showed up during the process to check things out and ask us if we were satisfied with the progress at each stage. If there was an issue, he personally took care of it - at one point going out to hardware stores to look for the type of tile/carpet threshold material we wanted, which was not standard. Sure enough, he came back with a few options, made a great recommendation and had it installed. It was a little detail, but it was important to the overall appearance of the project. The whole job could not have gone more perfectly. While here Bill also provided some guidance on what options we have for remodeling the kitchen, which is future project. We highly recommend Bill Bartlett and Kitchen Village for anyone who wants a great remodeling result and their money's worth.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of second bathroom. Original fixtures were double sink, single unit tub/shower combination and tile floor. The project was designed as a complete remodel with new walk-in shower, tile, fixtures, paint and accessories. This involved removal of all existing materials down to the underfloor and wall studs. Plumbing was modified to accommodate new fixtures (sink/vanity, toilet, shower), new tile was installed on the floor and up the wall to the ceiling in the new shower area, and electrical outlets and recessed ceiling lighting required moving to accommodate and center with new vanity and single sink. New electrical fixtures were selected and installed, including a new ceiling fan. We had a fairly tight deadline for completing the project prior to the arrival of guests who were staying for a few weeks.

Remodeling can be very trying and exhausting. Bill and his staff made it as painless as possible. It was easy to schedule appointments to plan the remodel and Bill walked us through each step very thoroughly. He consciously tried to work within our budget and did not try to push items that would not be appropriate for our home. He kept things moving along quite nicely and called every step of the way to be sure things were falling into place as planned. He even went the extra mile to be sure we were ready for the install of the counter top, by showing up and helping out. All of his staff were professional and skilled. The businesses he worked with also had skilled workman. The counter tops look great, the sink and faucet and garbage disposal are wonderful! I know if I have any questions or problems I could depend on Bill to help. We were a small job compared to many Kitchen Village does, I am sure but we never felt like we were any less important!

It didn't. They never contacted me. Since my report I did receive a call appologizing for not contacting me. The excuse was that someone was on vacation. My question is that if they drop the ball on the initial contact with a customer, how do they respond when you are actually a customer?

Dear Member, Your original contact request was delivered to us via an email to a general mail box. The person that clears this box was on vacation. I cleared the messages from that box but I missed your request. For that, I apologize. Your second post mentions the phone call I placed to you to apologize for my error. To answer your question, "How do they respond when you are actually a customer?" is an easy one for me to answer. Although I am not perfect and mistakes can be made from time to time, I would like to say our largest percentage of customers are repeat clients or those referred to us by former clients. Our "A" rating and written reviews on Angie's list are just a few of the examples of how we respond to our customers. Again, my sincere apologies for missing your email request. Best Regards, Bill Bartlett President

We had been talking to them and planning with them. They organized everything for use. We were very, very pleased. They did flooring, counter tops, and wall back splash. They came highly recommended from Angie's List when we were looking around, so they were one of the places we called when we were scouting around. They have a show room, and you can see how everything fits together. We were shown samples of counter tops, sinks, and tile for the backdrop to see how everything would harmonize, and it looks great. We thought the prices were very good. They were our "go-to" people. Everything happened in a reasonable time, which was amazing. The project was completed in less than a month. They were very good about making sure we weren't left without a kitchen and removed all the appliances. They even left the old refrigerator in the garage, plugged in, until the new one came. They knew the sequence of when to order things. It was great to have someone direct everything for us. They came when they were supposed to be there, and had good communication with everyone. I felt very comfortable with all the installers they brought in. Every day, someone would come in and take out the garbage. The kitchen was as neat as it could possibly be.

Working with Kitchen Village has been a 100% positive experience. At all times, everyone I had contact with treated me like I was their number one customer. Bill, who functioned as the designer and project manager was at my house every day making sure the craftsmen knew exactly what was to be done and to make sure I was happy with how everything was progressing. Every craftsman was extremely skillful, always on time, and worked tirelessly throughout the day making sure my expectations were being met or exceeded. Kitchen Village constantly provided me with guidance and recommendations to help me reach my goals. I look forward to working with them again on my next project. I wish every company was like them.
Description of Work: Removed bathroom wall separating toilet/tub from sink and built a smaller wall separation. Replaced flooring in two bathrooms with Ceramic Tile. Replaced toilet in one bathroom with a Comfort Height toilet and put in grab bars. Installed a heat lamp. Rerouted electrical as needed and put in an additional outlet. Their paint contractor contacted me as the job was nearing completion. They provided excellent advice and painted both bathrooms and two hallways.

The kitchen looks beautiful. I am very happy. Our designer had great ideas. They respected our budget and the subcontractors that they used for the most part were really good and trustworthy. The workers that came out were very good. They cleaned up after themselves. Our designer spent a lot of time with us trying to pick up everything. I would recommend them and would use them again in the future if necessary.

This is the third time we've used Kitchen Village, and I'm just sorry we don't have any more rooms for them to remodel. Jim McDonough is really good at making our hand-waving imaginings into functional reality. This time he and my husband built on each others' "what ifs" and figured out a way to get an extra 6 inches of elbow room into the corner shower while still using a stock base, and that enabled a vanity design that removed an annoying 6" gap between the shower wall and the cabinet. Then, because what we needed was relatively small, he sent us to choose a "remnant" piece of granite for VASTLY less money than it could have been. And THEN he pushed the work forward a week to be sure it was finished before all our children, their spouses, dogs AND a baby arrived for Christmas. The day the work started, I was on my way out the door for unexpected surgery as Steve and Marlon were on their way in. They laid protective plastic everywhere they were going to be on their way in. I spent the next 2 days holed up in my bedroom upstairs. They came, they worked, they left. Only once did Steve knock on the bedroom door to tell me they were about to be using a nail gun, and I shouldn't be alarmed. Every day they cleaned up as if they were finished, and then came back the next day and worked their tails off again. They were professional, skilled, and very considerate. When it was all finished, they cleaned up thoroughly. Luckily, I was mobile by the time decisions needed making about tile arrangements, vanity handles, etc, and the project was complete by early December, except for the glass shower enclosure, which went in on Dec 16. It's simply stunning, as well as far more comfortable than the room we've lived with for 25 years! Working with Kitchen Village is always a pleasure, and the results always exceed our wildest dreams.

I reached out to Kitchen Village via their Web site to get information since we were looking to remodel our kitchen. A few days later I received an email from one of their designers who introduced herself and requested that I send her pictures our kitchen with some details about what we were looking to do. I responded immediately with pictures and captions detailing what we wanted. I didn't hear anything after a few days and since we were anxious to get the ball rolling, I kept following up via email. I didn't hear anything for more than two weeks and in the meantime, met and interviewed different contractors and ended up selecting a contractor to do the job. The designer finally followed up with me saying she rarely checks email and apologized for the delay and basically offered me nothing "assuming" we had already found another company to help us. It was incredibly disappointing that the company would reach out to me via email and then after weeks of non responsiveness claim they rarely correspond via email. I didn't call Kitchen Village since I had my hands full calling/following up with so many other potential vendors/contractors. Email works best for me during the work week and again I assumed email would be appropriate since that is how Kitchen Village initially contacted me. Overall, it was just very disappointing to receive such poor follow-up and initial attention.

First, I want to say I am sorry that you weren't happy with your experience with Kitchen Village. However, your letter was upsetting to me considering our reports are always positive which is why we have an "A" rating with "Angie's List" members. I read your report very carefully. In your report you left out the part about being invited to our showroom to select products and discuss the details of what you wanted in a design. Designing for a client over the phone or through emails is not how we work with our clients. A 15 minute visit with one of our designers in our showroom would have enable you to establish a budget, cabinet choices and a change to get to know each other. This visit is essential to the success of any remodeling project. From your house and the internet, we established that you had very little time to invest in such a detailed project. A successful remodeling project takes personal dialog to choose the best products and design for a room that is yours to enjoy for many years to come. I felt you did not give us a chance to start your remodel project on the right foot through a few vague emails. In conclusion, I am sorry that your way of purchasing such a personal remodeling project for your home does not coincide with our way of serving our clients. However, we feel it is imperative that we continue to work diligently and patiently with our clients to create their vision of a new kitchen or bathroom. Best Regards, Bill Bartlett Owner
