+ -1 moreAt the end of this experience these are my insights: The quality of the work doesn't justify the premium pricing. Review very carefully the pamphlet that outlines the actual tasks performed for the different levels of cleaning. Based on prior deep cleaning that I'd had performed by prior vendors, I erroneous assume that tasks like wiping down grimy walls, cleaning the oven and taking out the trash and cleaning the receptacles were included. Admittedly, I didn't do this and found myself having to do all of these tasks. Inspect the quality of the work carefully. I found that many of my shelves and the items on them weren't dusted at all or done so very poorly (a few actually still had dust bunny's behind the books and on boxes). The young women who came out didn't seem to have much cleaning experience. Just like any other job that you can be trained for, house cleaning definitely requires a certain level of expertise to be carried out well and professionally. Bottom line a Wharton MBA business model for people who really understand and can clean the heck out of a house. I think that you can find another company to do a deep cleaning for a lower cost and better value and quality.
Description of Work: We first hired Fresh Tech Maids to do a general cleaning of our 2 bedroom, 11/2 bath duplex condo. We thought that the quote for the general cleaning was definitely on the high side ($159), but decided to give them a chance.The young woman who performed the work was very conscientious and did a good job. When we were ready to put our condo on the market we engaged the company again to do the deep cleaning. We were quoted a rate of $394 for cleaners for a total of 8 hrs (4 hrs per cleaner). I met with one of the young ladies and walked her through the property and then left for work. My husband was home for a little while after I left. When I came home, I was not happy with the work that was performed. It just looked as if we'd had a normal cleaning for twice the price. My baseboards were still filthy, my grout in the shower wasn't cleaned, the doors still had smudges and finger prints on them, walls in high traffic areas were dirty, the refrigerator hadn't been cleaned, my oven hadn't been cleaned, the trash hadn't been emptied or the receptacles cleaned. We have exposed duct work that needed to be dusted. It was dusted, but the cleaners didn't cover the furniture underneath, so I ended up with all kinds of yucky stuff in my daughter's crib and on her diapers that hang in a wall organizer. Ewww. Of course I had to clean this up myself. My husband also noted that the ladies seemed to be chatting quite a bit, which I don't have a problem with. However, if it effects the quality of the work that's a problem. I was seriously ticked off! We're already sleep deprived and running on fumes and after shelling out $400, I still ended up spending an additional 2 1/2 hrs cleaning my house. I contacted the company and it turned out that a lot of the tasks that I thought would be performed weren't included in the price, but had to be requested and came at an additional fee. They came back out to inspect the work that was done. After that another appointment was setup to have specific areas recleaned. The owner came with the young women (same ones who did the deep cleaning) and went over with them what they needed to do. My husband was there to meet with the owner. During a point in the exchange the owner became quite defensive. Even after the cleaners came back out a second time, I was still finding that a lot of basic tasks were carried out poorly or not at all. Several of my shelves weren't dusted at all or done so very poorly (a few actually still had dust bunnies behind the books and boxes). I'm still annoyed that after shelling out $400 and two visits from the cleaners I had to spend and additional 2 1/2 hrs cleaning my house. The young women who came out didn't seem to much cleaning experience at all. Just like any other job that you can be trained for, house cleaning definitely require a certain level of expertise to be carried out well professionally.

+ -1 moreI have been using Fresh Tech Maid services for quite some time now. They are incredibly professional and do a fantastic job. I have never had any issues with them and frequently have been impressed by how clean my home is after they arrive. I've recommended the service to coworkers and friends who have needed cleanings.The only downside is that they are a bit on the expensive side, however you definitely get value for the money. Their technicians and friendly and open to suggestions and feedback. They employee cleaners who speak english so communication is not a problem. They use non toxic chemicals and HEPA filters -- as I have both pets and allergies these factors and very important to me.I have had friends and family comment on how clean my place is (I'm not exactly known for my cleaning skills). It's well worth the investment!
Description of Work: They have performed a regular house cleaning as well as a deep cleaning. They cleaned all rooms in the house, stove, microwave, sink, bathrooms, bedrooms. Vacuumed, cleaned, and organized papers and knick-knacks.

+ -1 moreThis company is extremely professional. If you are looking for a service that you can rely on, and money is not an issue, I would definitely recommend this company. My service was $39/hour and took a total of 11.75 hours. I would have liked the bathroom floors to be cleaner, however, the work they did was good. The only reason I would not use the company again is the cost.
Description of Work: Two story home. Clean large master bathroom, 2 additional bathrooms, vacuum all carpets, mop all floors, clean baseboards, wipe down kitchen.

+ -1 moreFresh Tech Maid Services has been cleaning my home on a bi-weekly basis since 7/26/2011. The first cleaning was an in-depth, ceiling to floor service with which I was very pleased. One subsequent cleaning was not done to my satisfaction and I mentioned this to the owners during the follow-up phone call. The next thing I knew, both owners came to my house and we walked through the various areas that I thought needed better cleaning. They agreed with me, pointed out some reasons, not excuses, for why the work was not top-notch. One thing that I hadn't realized was that in some areas of the wall along the floorboards, the paint was chipping off, leaving that transition looking dirty. Obviously, if I wanted that area sparkling, I was going to have to do some painting. I don't see that in my future somehow. But there were some areas that were just plain missed - the side of the refrigerator, the mud-room floor under the utility sink, and the shelving in the master bathroom. The owner agreed with me and I was refunded the amount of the cleaning. I chose to put the refund toward one more cleaning - and I made it clear that we would part ways if the next cleaning was sub-par. Clearly, customer service and satisfaction are the most important items in Fresh Tech's arsenal because every cleaning since that one has been superb- all 8 of them. Fresh Tech's cleaning is "green" and I salute them for that - no toxic chemicals, no toxic odors. And they are testing a natural product that kills germs and harmful bacteria - I like that they are always trying to improve their products and service. Probably the most challenging part of cleaning my house is the dog hair shed by my two Labs. I asked my tech if she could use Murphy's Soap on my hardwood floors since that not only makes the floors shine, but the scent goes a long way toward removing the wet-dog odor, and she gladly complied. I would recommend Fresh Tech for thorough, green, and professional house-cleaning. I have been very happy to have them in my home!

+ -1 moreA technician was originally scheduled for a Friday arrival between 8-9 AM, but due to a scheduling snafu and weather, she wasn't going to arrive until after 11 AM. That didn't work for us, so we had to reschedule. Fortunately, it wasn't difficult to find another time. The technician did a good job -- the house looked very nice when she was done. The staff was easy to work with and calls/emails were responded to promptly. The only reason I wouldn't book again is that the service was pricier than I can do, even with a Big Deal.
Description of Work: General housecleaning of a 3-level townhouse. This included cleaning of three bathrooms, vacuuming 4 rooms on different levels including stairs, wiping down appliances, washing floors, and more.

+ -1 moreThe whole experience was great. Eda was so professional and thorough. I wish I could afford to do this more often...two boys going to college. The house smelled so good and not like chemicals. Eda worked with my sister who is also a very thorough person and myself. She had no problem being told what my sister would like help with. The house is big and messy and it would take a week to do a really thorough cleaning but it was a great start and inspiration to keep going. Fresh Tech is very lucky to have someone like her. Thank you. And also thank you for your patience with me and my schedule.

+ -1 moreI used them for about four months but then I decided I cannot afford them. I paid $175 for the cheap service and when they were here first it was almost $500 for one day. They are good but not that good. They are good and you have to pay a lot. They are good and they have a turnover. No one wants to be a maid and I am sure it is degrading for some people. They pay them well but nobody wants to pick strawberries in the field either. Those people don't get paid well but these people pay their people well, they charge a lot and they do a good job. If you have a basement full of money and you are looking at throwing it away you can hire them. I would use them in the future but only on on-call basis. They want to be scheduled couple of times a month and I don't blame them for that. They want to repeat their service and that is the only way they can protect their cash well. There are only two of us who live in a fairly large house and it doesn't get dirty much. I wanted to do it once a month and we did it once a month but it was still too expensive for me. It was so much like a car payment. It was a good company and the guy who runs the company is called Wells. He's got an MBA and he is very smart. It is a tough business. They are on the very high end of the price spectrum but the affordability and turnover hurt me a little bit. I cannot control it and I think they can't either and end of the day nobody wants to be a maid.

+ -1 moreI purchased the Angie's List special deal for this company. I don't recall off hand how much that ran, but I spent an additional $87 & it was money well spent. One of my biggest pet peeves about having a maid service come in is having to spend so much time putting things back where they belong because the cleaner didn't put stuff back where they found it. I was shocked to come home & find everything exactly back where it belonged! The house was beautifully cleaned & dusted. I also like the fact they use eco-friendly products. I am completely satisfied with the services from Fresh Tech & will be using them again in the future.

+ -1 moreThey showed up right on time and worked hard the entire time they were here, even though our air conditioning was broken and it was the beginning of a bad heat wave in Chicago. Our bathrooms were so clean when they were done that we barely recognized them (didn't realize how dirty they had been in the first place, I guess...). Both Sarah and Miracle were friendly and professional, and didn't let talking get in the way of their work. We were very impressed. We're hoping to be able to afford to keep them coming for regular upkeep in the future.

The person who cleaned my house had fantastic attention to detail, was careful, thorough, and did a great job with communication, too. I knew what she would focus on, what products she used, and what to expect of the time she spent in my home. We found the company through a "big deal", which provided a better price than normal for the service. If I could afford it, I would certainly use this company for regular cleaning services. Their prices are in line with others in the industry, and their service is fantastic.

+ -1 moreThe women who came by did good work, but they bring their own supplies. I wanted them to wax the paneling/floor, but they did have wax available. Also, when I called to make an appointment, via Big Deal, she spent 20 minutes explaining all services which was like a up sale. I really just needed to set appointment. I already purchased the services and it seems like they were trying to sell me more. My home is pretty clean, I just wanted the basement cleaned and is why I purchased the Big Deal. The women on the phone asked me a little rudely why I purchased the Big Deal if I didn't need a deep cleaning extra's (which I thought was a little inappropriate).

+ -1 moreThey did a great job. I probably wouldn't have paid the full amount without the Angie's List Big Deal, but then again, I'm terrible at upkeep and there was a lot of work to do. The women who came in were very nice, professional and were sweet to my dogs. They did great work and found dirt where I didn't even know you were supposed to clean! I also really appreciate the green cleaners they use. I would probably use them again on some occasion, maybe so I don't have to go for the deep cleaning. I did have some problems in the initial scheduling, I did the conversation with the woman after I bought the Big Deal, but then didn't hear back from her for a week. Just when I was thinking about calling her, she called back, and was very apologetic. That sort of thing doesn't really bother me, but if it bothers you, take note.
Description of Work: I got the one-time deep cleaning, and I got a Big Deal from Angie's List ($72 for four hours), so I upgraded for the spring cleaning. They deep cleaned everything (eight hours of cleaning, two people x four hours).

+ -1 moreFresh Tech Maids will be continuing to clean my home monthly. I was very happy with thier professionalism from the scheduling to the actual technicians performing the cleaning, to the owner, Wells Yu, following-up after the initial visit. They transformed my home from a neglected dustbowl to a clean, sparkling home I can easily maintain between thier visits. They are not the cheapest, but from past experiences with in home claening services, they are the best. Value is more important to me than price, and they offer great value for the services provided.
Description of Work: Fresh Tech Maids were at my home all day to clean. They were terrific and covered the points outlined in the original proposal for the cleaning. Based on their performance, I will be using them monthly for my cleaning needs. The owner, Wells Yu is very professional and responsive to expectations and customer satisfaction. They are a green company and involved in community causes as well. This initial cleaning was to get the house ready for a monthly schedule of cleaning going forward. I was very happy with the experience and am refering them to my friends and family.

+ -1 moreThe first contact with the company was a series of two or three messages left with a receptionist. We were told that they would let the manager know that we wanted to schedule a cleaning, but that because we had bought the Big Deal, we would have to wait a bit longer to hear from her. Not sure if this was because they were very busy with Big Deal purchasers or because we weren't "full priced" customers, but we were definitely made to feel second-class and not of great importance. When we finally got ahold of the manager, she immediately let us know that the four hours we purchased wouldn't be enough to clean a whole house and recommended that we buy more hours of cleaning. This sleezy "upsell" was an immediate turn-off. We realized that the four hours wouldn't mean that our entire house got cleaned, but that was all we could afford and all we wanted to spend on this new, untested cleaning company. Finally we made it clear to the manager that we weren't spending any more money and she scheduled our cleaning. On the day of the cleaning, the cleaning lady was very punctual and friendly. The cleaning job, however, left a lot to be desired. It looked cleaner when she left, but nothing that we couldn't have done ourselves in a couple of hours on a Saturday morning. We would not recommend this company to anyone and, frankly, can't understand how this company got recommended by Angie's List.
Description of Work: We purchased the Big Deal with this company which was four hours of housecleaning. The company gave us a choice of either a detailing-type cleaning or a general cleaning. We chose the general cleaning option. This included a basic cleaning of about four rooms (sweeping, mopping, dusting, straightening, etc.)

Our assigned cleaner Sarah is friendly and very punctual, and consistent in her cleaning. Our daughter looks forward to her visits! The price is reasonable. The owner is hands-on and does the initial walk-through and estimating, and prides himself on the background checks they perform (less than 5% of applicants are accepted I think). We recommend them.

+ -1 moreCandice and Miracle arrived within the time period Sue told me. They were bright and cheery and got to work. I was especially impressed with how they discussed togehter what they would do first, second, etc. When I had some questions, they were happy to answer me. They worked at a nice pace and didn't have a problem with the other workers I had in the condo at the same time. I also enjoyed getting to know them! I left before they finished - my husband was there instead. When I came back, it was just a pleasure to be able to put things away in a clean environment. Also, none of their products left an odor. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We bought a condo and wanted the entire unit cleaned. All the cabinets inside and out, the corners, the ceilings, everything. I searched on Angie's list and saw the excellent ratings for Fresh Tech. I also wanted a service that was close (distance wise) to the condo. When I called Sue, the ownser, she was just wonderful to talk to and I knew I could trust her. I spoke to Sue back in January as we thought the sale would go through then. When I called her back last week, she remembered me!

+ -1 moreThey had excellent reviews on Angie's List. I did not go with them because I felt their price was a little high and they gave me a real hard rush on up selling. I called them for an appointment and the women told me that they have an Angie's List special and that it was going to be over in an hour or two. She told me that if I get them in that time there would be some percentage off, which I did and after I found out how much they wanted to charge me, I ended up not using them. I just thought overall they felt they were great and superior but I don't believe that and I'm old enough to know that they are not the only person out there who can do a nice job. They couldn't negotiate on the price then why would I want to give them a huge amount of money and clean my house when I don't know what kind of cleaners they are. If they really wanted the job, they could have always called me back and figured something out. They were very professional. I wouldn't use them again because whatever you felt the first time is probably what you're going to feel. So I moved on and I got a call back from some lovely people.

They go out of their way to make sure the house is clean and that I am happy with the results of their work. Any specific cleaning instructions are stored in a computer data base and provided to a new technician so there is not need for me to leave them notes etc. One less thing to worry about :)
