Description of Work: I had just had them out in November because my garage door would only go part way down. I called them because they had installed a new door 5 years prior. They were very responsive and came out the same night I called. I had, inadvertently, put something in front of the eye of the door, and that was causing the problem. I was very embarrassed, and said just tell me what I owe for a service call and I will pay. He thought that since he was already there, he should check everything out. I told him that was fine. First he told me that some part needed replacing and showed me the part. I wouldn't have known anything about it or if it was good or bad. I told him to go ahead and do it, and he quoted me around $300. It seemed a lot, but I told him to go ahead. Then a few minutes later he informed me that all the springs and other little "curly" things needed replacing. I told him it had only been 5 years since the door was put in. He must not have been listening, because he said "when the builder put in this door, they didn't do a very good job." I then told him, again, that the door was put in 5 years ago by his company. I even got the receipt out and showed him. Then he said that springs only last about 3 years. So I said to go ahead and do it. That brought the charges up to $690. I felt as if I was being scammed, but being a senior citizen widow, I'm sure that happens a lot. Then on Feb. 10, 2016, my door would not move at all, no matter which device I used. I could definitely hear the motor but nothing was happening. I called again, and a man came out promptly the next morning. He said it was the ""door opener" (Motor), and it would need to be replaced. I told him I had just had all this work done less than 2 months prior. And, I asked him if they put in a new motor when they had installed the new door 5 years ago. He said, "No, only door." The man was very nice, but could barely speak any English, and I had a very difficult time understanding him. I said I had no choice, as I had to have my door working, so to go ahead. Then he handed me one remote, and I said I needed two. He said the extra would cost $45. I told him I had always had 2, and needed 2. Then I asked him about the key pad outside the door. He tried to coordinate my existing one with the door opener, but it would not work. He asked for a new battery, which I supplied, but it still would not work. He was ready to leave, and I told him I needed the key pad to work. He said I'd have to have a brand new one, and that would be an additional $65. By this time I was so frustrated, I just told him to put one in, and I would pay the extra charge. I think they do good work, and both installers were extremely courteous and apologetic, but it just seemed that it was one charge after another (almost like hidden charges when you buy a car.) I would call them again in the future, mainly because they did get such good reviews on Angie's list, but all of my friends in my community felt that I was taken. Not sure if that is true since I don't have any other garage door company to compare to.
