Temptrol Heating & Cooling Inc

We have used Temptrol for years and overall have been happy with them. We purchased our air conditioner with them about 2 1/2 years ago and have them doing our ongoing maintenance and check ups on our air conditioner and furnace. However, we will no longer be using their services. This past Friday morning, when it was below 10F out, my husband called them and left a message that our furnace was not working and was showing an error code. Usually they have someone who answers their phone in their office. We were surprised that we did not hear back from them. Luckily, he was able to get it working again. Then it happened again on Saturday morning. Their website states that they have 24 hour a day emergency support. He left another message stating the issue again and his concern that the furnace was going to become dangerous. We did not hear back from them again. We finally called another company recommended to us. They came out within the hour and told us that our heat exchanger had cracked which could eventually cause carbon monoxide to leak out into our home. It is now Monday night and we still have not received a call back from either message left. I understand that this is a busy time of the year, but not to at least receive a call back is inexcusable. We are now in the process of purchasing a new furnace from another company.

Very well, the service person corrected a problem and only charged the service call price because of an existing warranty.

They made every effort to charge me extra. Initially they said when I purchased the humidifier that it did not include installation. They why did I buy it from when it was $150 at homedepot. I paid $300

Showed up on time. Fixed the problem and did a little tune up on the AC. Didn't try to up-sell. Good professional service. We'll use them again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was a good experience. I just paid the Big Deal price.

The very first time we turned on our new a. c. it froze over and we had to go without for a few weeks to get them to come to the house. We also had informed him that we thought the last ac unit was to small and he sold us one that he said would be good for our size house. Our upstairs is almost unlivable it is so uncomfortably hot. After our new AC unit broke down they "fixed it" however it is too hot in our home. The humidifier was installed incorrectly and also had to be redone. The furnace does work well.

I bought the big deal coupon for this service. Everything went on fine. It was okay but I don’t remember any details about it. I don’t remember having any problems. So far it has been satisfactory. Their punctuality and professionalism were okay.

The experience was excellent. I scheduled an appointment. They were professional and on time. It was wonderful. I was clueless to what the heating problem was and he could have told me anything. I trusted him. He could have charged us a fortune and we would have paid it. He was very honest and he took care of the small problem right away. The price was very reasonable. I would absolutely use them again.

My 20+ year old air conditioner was not cooling the house. I had it serviced and it still was not working properly. I knew it was time to replace the unit. After comparing reviews and doing a bit of product research online, I called Temptrol. The gentleman came out right away--it was a Saturday night, during the beginning of what would be a summer long heat wave. He was thorough in his presentation of the options, prices, services and recommendations for which type of unit would be best for my home. They also had a zero percent financing option and did all the paperwork to get the rebates being offered by our local utility companies.Temptrol's estimate came in under the price of the nearest competitor. I replaced the furnace at the same time because it was the same age as the A/C unit and there were some rebates available for that as well. The work was performed as quoted, the installers arrived on time, they were professional, courteous, and efficient. Everything works great--and got us through the hottest summer we have had in 20 years, with utility bills lower than ever. I saved about $125 in energy costs this summer. The called a few days later just to make sure everything was working well. I am very happy with this company and the product. They are a local small business that is well run and very reliable.

I completed the Temptrol "Contact Us" form in the evening and by 0800 the next morning Alan Harrison contacted me asking if he could schedule an appointment for him to provide a free estimate. He worked with my schedule and provided the estimate in a few days time. He also provided an instant utility rebate in the estimate which meant I would not have to fill out the forms or wait for a rebate that could take weeks. I obtained four quotes and Temptrol was one of the lowest. We contracted Temptrol because of the price, his intallers are NATE Certified and Mr. Harrison treated me with respect, even though I was a woman who knew nothing about HVAC except what I read online. He was very patient and even spoke to my husband on the phone to answer his questions. He took his time at the estimate and didn't make me feel like I was just another stop in his day. The day of the installation, Matt and Jeff came to install the A/C and furnace. This was a big job because my furnace is in a tight space. Both Matt and Jeff worked all day until the job was done. When I didn't like the way the A/C rested on the new pad, Matt politely told me he would fix it and he did. Both Matt and Jeff were very respectful and helpful when I had questions (and I had a lot of questions). They completed the install and cleaned the whole area. They even let me save the copper so I could recycle it myself. Paula Harrison (in the office) was also very helpful when I had questions about the install scheduling and the rebate paperwork I signed (Temptrol completed the paperwork) so they could claim the rebates. A few days after the install, my husband and I smelled something in the basement. We weren't sure what we were smelling, so I called Temptrol. Paula called me back immediately with a service call date. Matt and Jeff returned and assured me they didn't find any gas leaks and even checked my dryer connections on the first floor and even offered to check my stove connection. WOW! That's service and once again, they were very polite and respectful. I have already recommended their services to several of my friends at work. You have a very satisfied customer.

I did comparison shopping and Temptrol gave the best price by far. The office personnel are great- easy to work with workmen were prompt and efficient. No complaints!

We were ripped off! The service technician who came to do a maintenance check said nothing was wrong with our air conditioning unit (space pak) . He said we didn't need any refridgerant and that all he needed to do was vaccum the outside compressor.A week later we had water leaking into our ceiling and called thel company that installed the unit. He showed us that the outside compressor was totallly packed with debris, the coils in the attic unit were totally covered in dirt and dust and the refrigerant levels were down. We're out over $500. Don't hire these folks.

We first called Temptrol when the furnace was not working. Alan came out right away and said the control board needed to be replaced, and the office would call me back with a price. He hardwired the fan so that at least we could get heat until it was fixed. Paula called with a price of about $550 to replace that board. We asked about the cost of full replacement. I want to make that point very clear...it was solely our decision to replace all of these at the same time. The house is 17 years old & had the original furnace, a/c, & water heater. We had already started looking into these replacements since many of our neighbors have already replaced theirs as well. When I asked about the furnace replacement cost, I also asked her to quote the water heater. Paula pointed out that there is a rebate from the utility company if we replaced the furnace & a/c at the same time. I asked her to get me a price on all three. If the price was right, we would consider doing all three. Paula was very responsive in getting quotes emailed. She was very patient when asked for different models and sizes. We did agree on a price for all three and set a date for the replacements. Three days before they were scheduled to come out our sump pump would not shut off. Luckily we have a back up, but Alan did come out to assess the pump and said the switch had failed. The pump was already 6 years old, so I knew what to expect when Paula called back. We agreed to have them replace the pump when they came back for the other work. Two days were scheduled to complete the replacements. Alan & two others were here the first day and completed the furnace, a/c, and water heater. They were all very polite and patient with the loud dog I was dog sitting. Only one returned the next day to do the sump pump which did not take him very long. They were respectful of our property and cleaned everything up as they went, taking all garbage with them. It was a huge amount of trust to put into a company and I am confident we made the right decision. Thank you Temptrol!

Alan arrived in a company truck about 10 minutes early, at 8:50am. He offered to wear shoe covers, asked where the boiler is, and went right into checking the system. During or after checking, he told me that a part, the thermocoupler, was old and would probably fail in a year or so necesitating a service call. I asked if he could change it now, and he said yes, for $68. He did change it, taking an additional 5 or 10 minutes. He gathered his tools and presented me with a bill for $113.00, which included a $45 charge for the labor to change the thermocoupler. I paid the bill and he left at about 9:50am. The previous is fact. The following is my personal opinion: It is possible that the $45 charge for an additional 5-10 minutes of work was excessive. To be clear, I was charged a total of $192. I had prepaid $79 when I purchased the Big Deal. I was charged an additional $113 during the work. To help explain the ratings I gave: The Big Deal included all labor required to check the system, including removing one end of the thermocoupler to check it and then returning it to its 'socket'. Very little additional labor was required to install a new one because the old one was already half-removed. As for professionalism, the $45 additional labor charge was a complete surprise after it was done.

Called and showed up early. Tested boiler and cleaned. Everything went fine.

I have a home warranty policy so it cost me $100 but I think the repair was $500. I have to use them because of my home warranty.

We got a good price. The installers were neat and clean and did a good job. When checking the furnace for proper operation, a defective part was discovered and they got a new one and installed it immediately. No complaints. We would use them again.

We had a scheduling hiccup, but Alan Harrison is on top of things as is his wife, Paula!

They have always been super quick to respond and super quick to help out. They have been a great company all around. They were here for about two hours and took care of the job very quickly. It cost between $400 and $500. We have been using them for our heating and air conditioning as they have been our 'go to' service providers for the maintenance and yearly checkups. Even before we chose to use them for this particular job, one of their technicians spent about twenty minutes on the phone with us discussing the pros and cons. He also discussed as to how it should or should not work. They were super helpful. He gave us his cell phone number and told us to call him if we had any questions even if we did not decide to go forward with it. They were very respectable people. We have always used them.
