 + -1 moreI had used Sears in the past for appliance repairs but decided to try Command Service based on their reviews on Angie's List and also because they are located in the same town I live in. They were very easy to work with and I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We have two drawer dishwashers. One of them was not working. I did as much as I could to try and fix it and had no luck. Command Service came out a total of three times in order to diagnose and fix the problem. They found the problem, ordered the part and installed it.

 + 0 moreWe carefully analyzed two HVAC companies taken from Angie's List. Both firms were friendly, patience and professional. Both gave excellent presentations and detailed quotes. Both were amazingly responsive. It was a win-win situation. In the end, we decided to go with the Trane product and Command Service who was very willing to negotiate terms to be competitive. Steve Milliken (President) was a pleasure to work with. Not phony or hard sell. One factor in our decision was to go with the "smaller" family run company if all other factors were equal. Command Service is a "dot the I's" and "cross the T's" type of company. No shortcuts. When a freak malfunction of our furnace occurred after HVAC installation, one of Command's techs came out promptly on a Friday night after hours to correct the problem which was their fault. All companies make mistakes - it's how they respond that matters. To date, it has not been warm enough to fully test the system's coolant pressure, but so far, so good. When we have some sustained warmth, they will be out to fully test the system's coolant pressure to make sure it is matched for house needs. Steve Milliken did come out to do an after-job inspection separate from pressure testing.
Description of Work: Installed new Trane central AC unit, inspected existing furnace and removed old Aprilaire in-line humidifier in preparation for Fall installation of new in-line Honeywell humidifier. We were unhappy with our existing HVAC company and decided to make a change in company and product brand. we were replacing.

 + 0 moreThere is no doubt I would use this company again. Once I signed up the The Big Deal I was contacted by the company the same day. Everyone I talked to (setting a date, changing the date) was very polite and very professional. The technician (Jeff) called me in the early morning to let me know when he would be here. He arrived promptly and immediately went to work for almost an hour and a half. He cleaned out the washer and balanced it. My washer is older. He said if it doesn't stay balanced I may need new springs. Then he vacuumed out the dryer vent and went outside to inspect the roof vent to see if any lint was catching, but it was fine. He gave me information about all the other services they provide. Command Service is how a company should be. I was very impressed.
Description of Work: The technician cleaned and balanced the washer and cleaned out the dryer vent and inspected the vent opening on the roof.

Description of Work: I had Command Services come out because my dishwasher was not cleaning my dishes. I had had a repair man out from an appliance store in Libertyville and all he did was tell me that he "reset the machine"- I finally asked him to leave becuase he clearly did not know what he was doing. That episode prompted me to join Angie's list where I found Command Service. It turns out that the screen on the bottum of the machine was dirty. Jeff cleaned it and suggested that I use a product called Dishwasher Magic. It works like a dream and I'm thrilled. Jeff also unclogged my garbage disposal and I can finally use that too!

 + -1 moreThis was our first experience with this company. When the repairman arrived and first started to work on the unit, he did not seem to be familiar with the unit. I had to provide him with the operating instructions. We were a little nervous at that point. However, he dug in. Within a half hour or so, he had removed the drain pump, tested it for continuity, and checked that it could move freely. He put everything back together, and amazingly it worked fine. Problem solved. While he was there, we had him take a look at our garbage disposal. It had a spreader blade stuck in it. While not his specialty, he was able to remove it in 10 minutes or so. In the end, the services was as expected, albeit a little more than expected, given we had the Angie's List coupon.
Description of Work: Our Bosch dishwasher wouldn't drain, and because of that, wouldn't run through the cycles. The task at hand was to get the dishwasher up and running again. The unit was only 2 years old, and we hadn't had any previous problems with it.

Description of Work: The company was responsive to my request to come to my house. When I made the appointment 2 days prior to their coming, I was told the repairman would be at my house at 9:10. He called at 7:45 am the day of the visit and indicated he would be there between 9-10 am. He was at my door at 9:10 - I couldn't believe it. He looked at my washer and gave me options on what to do, including follow-up on cost or repairing the clutch. The price was not worth investing in a 7 year old washer, so I declined additional work. The serviceman was wonderful and I will certainly go to this company when additional work is needed.

 + 0 moreThey did a great job for us. They take care of most of our appliances. They are very competent. They only send guys who are well trained. They have all the tools and equipments. They seem to remember, if you are a customer, they come out quickly in case of any problems. We have been pleased with them from a very long time. They are very good. We never really had a bad experience with them. Over a year ago, we had a trouble with the furnace. They checked and found out that we had bought a ten year warranty on it. It is a very expensive control board. It was covered under a warranty with just two or three months left. A lot of people just forget about it. We had to get the furnace working. We had forgotten about the warranty. It was really a fantastic deal. They are really wonderful. We have nothing bad to say about them. Their price is fair but they are probably not cheap. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Command Service Center Inc for heating and A/C. We have a service contract with them. In the fall they work on the furnace and in the spring they do the service on the air conditioner. They came in April to perform service on the air conditioner. They have taken care of washing machines, dishwasher, oven, furnace, and air conditioner.

 + 5 moreAs mentioned above, on the Thursday before the July 4th holiday weekend, I noticed the yellow "service" warning light on my outside Generac generator. The generator was still fully functioning, but indicated that it needed a change of oil and filters. When I called Command, they told me that the generator repairman would be busy with installations the following day, but they would fit me in if I preferred not to wait until the following week. The generator was serviced within 24 hours of calling. The $290 price included the annual service fee for two service visits (every six months to change oil, filters and spark plugs).
Description of Work: This company has been installing and servicing our heating/cooling/sump/appliances for nearly 30 years in two homes. They have consistently demonstrated a level of professionalism that far exceeds the highest standards of excellence. The servicemen are prompt, courteous, reliable, attentive and knowledgeable and most have been with the company for years. Command has installed furnaces, air conditioners, air filtration systems, sump pumps, back-up sump systems and an outside generator, and they have checked and repaired refrigerators, gas grills, stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers and dryer vents. I simply would not want any other company servicing my home equipment. During the heavy rains in June, I had a sump pump failure on a Saturday morning. While I still had a back-up sump fully functioning and did have power, Command was at my house within two hours to replace the failed sump pump. Most recently, on the Thursday prior to the July 4th holiday, I noticed a yellow "service" light on my outside generator. The generator was fully functioning but required a change of oil and filters. Rather than make me wait until the following week, they fit me into their very busy schedule of generator installations the next day, and my generator was serviced within 24 hours of calling. Command Service consistently deserves your highest Award of Excellence.

 + -1 moreOverall, the service went well. While trying to schedule the second visit we played phone tag for several days as I left messages with the answering service, but wasn't sure they got them. Since we couldn't confirm an initial date, the service got delayed a week. But it wasn't a problem since the refrigerator was running fine. The tech did show up a couple hours late due to previous service appointments.
Description of Work: Refrigerator stopped refrigerating over Memorial Day weekend. I called several repair services and chose Command Service because they were local, and because they were able to come soonest. Technician arrived Tuesday following the holiday, diagnosed the problem as a failed capacitor/relay. He didn't have the right parts in stock, but was able to use substitutes while the parts were on order. A second tech came out the following week with the right parts and finished the job.

 + -1 moreRepair experience was greate, they knew exactly what could be causing the issue and they were able order the part and able to come within 3 days to install. Icemaker and water dispenser has been working wonderfully. Issue I had with them was them not having a clear cost structure. They charged $89 to visit and inspect the problem, it was explained to me that if the repair work is done that day that $89 will apply towards the cost of repair. So, when they came back with the part they charged extra amount for installation without any credit/consideration for $89 that they were paid. They were lacking in pre-work, they didin't ask for model name and serial number to reduce the length of repair. I also called ABT Electronics, even though they had a higher cost for visit but they seemed prepared by asking me the model name and even serial number (I am assuming to pre-order the part). But, they didn't have an appointment available till few days later, therefore, I end using Command Service instead. I should have stayed with them and would not have felt taken advantage of.
Description of Work: Water line going to Ice maker was leaking and eventually freezing up in my Whirlpool refrigerator. Also, in-door water dispenser was leaking.

He had some difficulty removing the icemaker as it was a type of installation he had never seen before so the removal took awhile. Once he thawed, dried and repaired the gears and timer, he reinstalled the unit--an easier process. I was very happy with both the service and the price and recommended Command Service to my sister, who also used their service. I subsequently received a $20-off referral letter from Command Service, thanking me for the referral
Description of Work: The icemaker in our four-year-old refrigerator stopped slowly stopped making ice. The technician, Justin, removed the icemaker and found that the gears had frozen over and were unable to spin. He thawed the gears and found the timer was spinning. He performed the necessary repair and reassembled the icemaker. The service was $85 and the labor was $20.

 + 1 moreThey also do our heating and air conditioning twice a year. I've used them over 30 years. I used his father before him. They have always been honest and given excellent service. They are prompt and have come out the same day if we had an emergency and needed them. We had originally used somebody else and he came in and told us we needed a new furnace because the exchanger was bad. The house was about 7 years old. I decided to get a second opinion and I called Bob at Command and he said there was anything wrong with the heat exchanger. From that point on we have used him. He has put in several furnaces and air conditioners over the years as well as taking care of them. He had done appliance repair and also sump pumps.
Description of Work: I've used Command Service Center for some appliance repair for a refrigerator and freezer. He replaced a fan motor in a full size freezer. It was a Whirlpool fan and I had to wait a while to get it. They also do our heating and air conditioning twice a year and they have also repaired a refrigerator.
