As bad as it could.
Description of Work: I have their warranty through Nashville Metro Water. The first rep from AWR Cortez, opened and denied a claim with me over the phone before any tech had a look. He was extremely rude and aggressive. After I found out that happened they said they would send a plumber to look at the separated sewer line. A gentlemen from Hers and His Plumbing showed up completely unprepared. He took no photos or videos and then didn’t even finish calling in the claim. After I spoke with AWR again they had lost all the previous information bc there was no record of them calling Hers and His only the claim that the first rep set up and denied. I believe that this company is completely fraudulent. Nashville Metro Water should reconsider their promotion of AWR to their customers.

When things get all backed up from roots in my pipes, I call them right away. They then send out a plumber who grinds the roots out of the pipes and it works fine for a year or two. They have been very good and I will continue to use them.
Description of Work: They find a plumber for me when I have plumbing needs.

The plumber and his supervisor at the plumbing company determined that the clog was covered and eventually unclogged the drain (see separate report on this plumber) The cause of the clog was sand and gravel that was falling through holes that had developed in the collecting drain box. The plumbing company told me to contact the insurance company to determine if the drain box repair was covered under my policy. American Water Resources determined nothing was covered because they claimed they cover only the "shortest distance from the foundation to the main sewer line". We were not charged anything additional. The plumber informed us that if we did not have insurance the charge would have been over $200. Although the outcome was less than ideal, e.g. they did not repair the cause of the clog, and the plumber seemed very inexperienced, the fact that the coverage will cover REPLACEMENT of the lines if required may make the coverage worthwhile. [Before obtaining coverage my neighborhood submitted questions to the Virginia State Commissioner requesting further clarification on coverage. The insurance provider submitted answers to the Insurance Commissioner that specifically stated coverage covered REPLACEMENT of lines if warranted. Personal information has been omitted for privacy reasons.] With regard to whether or not I'd use this company again, I would have picked "neutral" if that had been a choice.
Description of Work: My local water utility provider promoted this insurance program offered and administered by their subsidiary American Water Resources. The actual insurance policy is provided by a company located in Chicago, IL. It's confusing because 3 companies are actually involved in this insurance policy. The $194 represents a monthly premium of about $12/mo paid over the past year for insurance coverage for my water line and sewer line for a total of ~$144; plus a $50 deductible paid to the plumber. The drainage system that collects the water from the outdoor basement stairs became clogged. The city sewer representative confirmed the drain was part of the sewer system and that homes built before 1980 in my city typically had this set-up. American Water Resources sent a plumber to evaluate the situation and unclog the drain if covered.
