"Dear [member name removed], We understand your complain and we appreciate you got back to us and that you are communicating trough this review. The area that you bought the deal for, was a damaged 3x3 area in the family room. From what we saw in the meeting, the floor was connected with the entire house. Since the species of your floor was a Brazilian cherry, an exotic wood floor, which it changes the color when sanded, our estimator propose to your husband to refinish the entire floor. Our concern was that the repair will be too visible in just that specific section(3x3). We provide high quality craftsmanship and we will not do any service that will not look according to our standards. Therefor we recommended your husband to refinish the entire floor in the house. After our meeting we tried contacting you many times, via the phone and Angie's List messenger, to follow up and provide an accurate estimate, but we never got any response from you. We were hoping to be able to get the job done in 1 day, even with 3 coats of the finish. They agreed to start early and finish in one day.
The dustless system is truly dustless. The water based finish has much less odor than an oil based finish. It has a less glossy, matte look, which we like, but is really durable. We had the rest of the main floor done almost a year ago and the finish looks brand new, despite 3 giant dogs efforts to mar it. They were able to sand and put on 2 coats of finish then came back later in the afternoon to put on the last coat.
It looks beautiful, and the men that did the work were very professional. They even removed the floor grates and cleaned out the top part of the vents.
We highly recommend this company and would use them again.

The job went very well, indeed despite some inherent challenges that the project entailed. One of the main obstacles was blending the new hardwood flooring with existing hardwood in the foyer and kitchen area. This involved cutting out some of the existing flooring and staggering the new wood so the seams would not show and it would look like all the hardwood was installed at the same time. They also had to compensate for a poor job done by another company by installing new and much better looking and fitting wood thresh holds leading to the laundry room and the upstairs bath.
The existing hardwood floors were in poor shape due to age and excessive usage so after all the new wood and stairs were installed the entire wood floor was sanded down to the original wood, stained and finished with several coats of scratch resistant poly. Note: to help us decide on a stain color they actually rolled out three different stains on the floor so it was relatively easy for us to make that all important color decision. Once the stains dried back they were sanded off and the floor was readied for the stain application process.
In addition to the work outlined above IC Custom installed all new quarter round trim throughout the work area, pulled up a portion of the subfloor that was badly damaged and replaced it with new subfloor material. Likewise, stair carpeting and carpeting in the upstairs hall were also removed and carted away.
After the job was complete and upon close examination we realized that the installation of one tread did not meet our expectations. All it took is one call to IC Custom and they had a man to our house the next day where he set about and fixed the problem to our complete satisfaction.
Also worth mentioning was the care the team exhibited in sealing off our rooms to minimize dust and dirt transfer from the work area to other parts of the home.
Suffice it to say, this is a company that we would definitely hire again and recommend to our friends and relatives.
