When Home Repairs R Us Incorporated came out the first time he was late. Once he showed up complained about the distance. He told me that it was inconvenient for him to come out because I live on the south side and he works on the north. When he did the estimate he told me that has the capability to act as a Construction Manager and a General Contractor. However when I asked him to build a porch and do some electrical work where he would have to act as a Construction Manager he told me that he could do electrical, but he could not act as a Construction Manager. So I decided to have him act as the General Contractor for the six other contractors that I found for the work. I made up a copy of the scope of the work, which I sent to him and asked him to make copies for each of the other contractors so that they could have it when he met with them. He picked the time that he wanted to meet the electrical contractors first and I called each of them and informed them. When the appointment time came around I received a phone call from one of the contractors saying that the General Contractor was not there. So I called the General Contractor and said that it was five minutes after the appointment time and wanted to know where he was. He told me that he was five minute away to which I responded but you were supposed to met them five minutes ago, and he hung up. I tried to call him back multiple times and refused to answer his phone, so I called one of the other contractors who answered right away and was able to let me speak with the General Contractor. When I got through to him I told him there were two other contractors coming out. When they showed up he didn't even have to keys to let the contractors in which he blamed on me and said he had not received them, following that we found out he left them at home. For another job, he could not turn the key right in the lock to get in, so he called me and told me that it was broken and he could not get in. So I called my building maintenance man to go out and help him, when the maintenance man got out he called me and told me the General Contractors was in the building. I had the mainntenance man put the General Contractor on the phone and I asked him why he did not call me so that I could tell the maintenance man that he did not have to go out and he said well I got in. I had him do some painting and he got paint all over the woodwork. There have been several times that he has come out and given me an estimate with one price and the invoice shows up with another price, which I think is unprofessional. He told me that he gets paid immediately following the work. I said I run a business and I pay my vendors once a month. When I sent him the check he called me every day until he got it. After I sent him the check I found out that he had not even completed all of the work. I found out when I potential tenant came out they called and asked if the window was going to be fixed for them to move in and I said it was a brand new frame, they told me it was on the floor. So I called the General Contractor and he said that was all that he had left. I would not recommend Home Repairs R Us Incorporated for anything. I give him straight F's.

He was prompt, professional, and did an excellent job with all the projects. Projects were completed quickly. When we had concerns about the shower door, he returned the next day and fixed it. His costs were reasonable. Our experience is that he was trustworthy and did quality work. We would use him again and highly recommend him.

Great- he was punctual and knowledgeable and did everything for a great price. He actually charged us $125 but he did a very good job, so we added in $25 more.
Description of Work: Eric fixed a coffee table for us (the legs were wobbly and we detached from the base of the table). He also re-mounted a coat hanger that had come out of the wall. He used his taller ladder to change some lights we could not reach with our step ladder. In addition, he told us how to do some things ourselves (change the door jam on the steam shower door, replace our undermount water filter in the kitchen sink).

I would struggle recommending them to others. When he quoted me a price, I thought it including everything and come to find out it did not. The way the man explained it was ridiculous. The price essentially doubled from what I was told and this was after the floor had been torn up. The tracked dirt and mud throughout the rooms in my basement. I had to completely re-clean the whole basement, and I had just bought the house. There was mud all over the wall. They didn't put some of the tile back down.
Description of Work: I had a drain problem under the floor in my basement. They had to rip into the concrete flooring in the basement to get to the problem because the floor was buckling. They ended up putting in all new drain pipes.

I DISAGREE WITH THE MEMBER'S SUMMATION FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO THE MEMBER THAT HE COULD NOT BE GIVEN AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR A PROBLEM BENEATH A FLOOR UNTIL I COULD GET BENEATH THE FLOOR TO ACTUALLY ASSESS WHAT WAS WRONG. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO QUOTE A PRICE TO REPAIR SOMETHING IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SOMETHING IS THAT I'M REPAIRING. ONCE THE CONCRETE WAS BUSTED IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT HE HAD A BROKEN PIPE BENEATH THE FLOOR COMING FROM THE KITCHEN SINK THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE TUB. THIS CONNECTION WAS NEVER PROPERLY INSTALLED. AFTER THIS OBSERVATION, THE PRICE FOR REPAIR WAS QUOTED TO THE MEMBER. THE BASEMENT WAS DEFINITELY THOROUGHLY CLEANED AND FREE FROM ALL MUD. SO, I'M DISAPPOINTED AT WHAT THE MEMBER HAS REPORTED. FINALLY, THE MEMBER ELECTED NOT TO HAVE THE TILE REPLACED BY HOME REPAIRS R US AS HE DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND INSTEAD INDICATED HE WOULD REPLACE IT HIMSELF. THE FLOOR WAS COMPLETELY SMOOTHED OUT FROM THE PREVIOUS BUCKLING PER THE CONTRACT.

Excellent. It was exactly what I expected. Eric came through on my challenge. He is very helpful. He and his crew love the work. They do not complain about profane a project may be. The work I needed done was very un-elitist. Eric has always helped me out and allowed me to speak my mind when I wanted something a certain way.

The project went great. Eric was punctual, polite, and professional at all times. He identified a lot of additional issues that should be addressed, but didn't nickel and dime me. He just took care of some of the smaller ones as part of the work he was already doing.
Description of Work: Eric and his team replaced 8 windows, rebuilt the front porch, and repaired the stairs leading from the first floor to the second floor which were pulling away from the wall and needed to be reinforced. He also did several odd jobs to get the property ready for the new tenants.

I called him from the list and he was there that nite. Because I don't get home till 7:30 pm. He was very proffesional because I am a widow, I am very cautious about men in my house but I have used him many times since. His prices have always been fair and his conduct exemplary. I feel I can trust and every job he has done for me has been excellent.
Description of Work: Replaced my water heater and repaired the connection to the water heater. He picked up the water heater and installed the water heater. He did this at my convenience and in a timely manner he was proffesional and did an excellent job. I have used him for many other house problems and he has been there when I needed him.

I called Eric for an estimate, and he was to come between 8:30 - 9:00 on Sunday to give me an estimate and then, if the price was agreeable to me, I asked him to be prepared to begin work at that time. He called me at 7:00 AM Sunday morning to tell me he would be happy to come give me an estimate, but he does not work on Sundays. I explained that he had not told me that beforehand and that we had previously agreed that if the quote was competitive, he would begin work immediately that day. Anyway, he came over about 7:45 to go over what I needed and presumably give me an estimate. He told me he would call me Monday to tell me his prices and if agreeable, he would begin work on Tuesday. He never called. He was not reliable at all in my estimation.

I DID PROVIDE HER ON SUNDAY AS SHE INDICATED HOWEVER SUNDAY EVENING I BECAME ILL AND THUS WAS UNABLE TO WORK FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I WORK SIX DAYS A WEEK AND I, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, NEED A DAY OFF AND MY DAY OFF IS SUNDAY. SO, IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT SHE IS UNHAPPY THAT I DO NOT WORK ON SUNDAYS.

Eric was prompt and come on the time we agreed upon. He was here before I was. He did more work than I had requested and did things other than plumbing work. I was very satisfied. The first job I had him do was the right pricey, but the second job that we had him do was also a little pricey, but I m still using him and he is well worth it!
Description of Work: Plumbing and other jobs around the house.
Two people from Home Repairs R' Us came to look at the bathroom for a remodeling estimate. Eric Henry and a colleague/employee of his with him. They were on time for the estimate. The written estimate was sent within a week by e-mail. It took about a month from the estimate to project beginning (this was due in part to other projects that Eric was finishing up, and because he did not have an updated license). He got started immediately once he presented an updated license. They were thorough in the beginning (with the breakdown of the walls, and taking out the toilet and vanity, etc). In the beginning, they did a thorough job with the clean up. At first we thought that the installation of the drywall was professionally built; however, later it became clear that the walls were not level and straight (they did not adjust the joists to ensure level installation of the drywall). The employee who was supposed to complete the mosaic glass tile installation, but stopped coming. This was the beginning of the unraveling of the project. Others tried to complete the job, without the knowledge & skill of working with this particular tile. There was damage to the tile because the incorrect tool was used, which ended up gouging many of the tiles. The project spiraled out of control for Eric; he didn't supervise on premises as he assured us was his practice, there was a lack in communication between him and his employees. They sometimes didn't know what he wanted them to do. He didn't know what they had completed. There was a lack in planning for the job (ie, looking at all of the material and equipment to determine the steps for the job - the vanity not measured ahead of time, not examined to determine where the plumbing hole is, and how it matches the hole in the wall, etc). Eric assured us that his practice as a contractor was to do the work with his employees and not work on other projects while just dropping his employees off. However, after two days on the job, he did just that - he dropped off his employees, flew in and out to 'supervise' the project as he was doing other jobs. Eric bit off more than he could chew. He did not have the experience nor a stable and experienced crew to complete such a job. It quickly spiraled out of control for him and he greatly underestimated the scope and time for the project. He would assure us that he had only two more hours to complete the entire job, and after a 10 hour work day, he still had not completed the job. One of his employees in particular was careless and unprofessional. He threw thin-set outside of the window (it ran down the side of the brick outside) and needs to be cleaned. The employee damaged an antique radio ($900-1000 to repair). Eric tried to be responsive to our communication of dissatisfaction, but ended up back peddling on the work, needing to fix things that were not done right in the first place. We stopped the job before completion and did not pay the final payment.
Description of Work: Gut a relatively small bathroom down to studs (tub and original floor remain). Installed new dry wall, new ceiling, and a new window. Install glass mosaic tile on all three walls (from floor to ceiling, or tub to ceiling depending) and on the fourth wall four feet up from the floor. Install ceramic tile on the floor (relatively small floor space). New plumbing and new electrical in the bathroom. Patch a portion of the ceiling and install an access door in a part of the ceiling in the basement for where holes were made to access the plumbing. Cut down remaining pipes from a previously removed radiator and cap those pipes in the basement. Paint the portion of wall without tile, and the ceiling and trim. Install new toilet, vanity, mirror, storage cabinet, shelves, toilet roll holder, towel holders and other fixtures in tub area and vanity area. Install new sink faucet fixtures and shower and tub faucet fixtures. Install track light above mirror. Install a light/vent/heat fixture in the ceiling and created a hole in the outside wall above ceiling to vent to the outside. Install the switches that correspond with the vent and the track lighting. Created an edging from the glass mosaic tile for the rim of the vanity to cover the gaps between the vanity and wall. Cut hole in vanity cabinet to allow for plumbing to be accurately situated - as the vanity hole did not align with the plumbing hole in the wall. Adjust plumbing from sink drain so water flowed smoothly - due to atypical size of vanity cabinet below sink. Put joint compound over a small portion of ceiling in the hallway right outside of bathroom.

Eric came by for an estimate and took a look at the plaster and drywall that needed repair. He quoted a price of $600 and said he'd start and finish the job the following Monday. We had a little trouble connecting for the estimate, and I appreciated the fact that he called to keep me posted, rather than pulling a no-show or just being late. I also had to postpone and he was very good about it. He and his team came early Monday as planned, and finished the job by early afternoon. They hauled away all their gear and mess and left the house and driveway in good shape. At one point my kids sort of got in the way and they were very understanding. Eric noticed that my front door threshold needed repair and that the screen door wasn't closing properly. He offered to fix them, picked up the parts when he went out for the drywall supplies, and charged me the extra $75 which I was happy to include in the payment!
Description of Work: Eric and his team patched up some damaged plaster in my dining room, and they patched up some paneling in my addition that was previously damaged by a leak. He also fixed my front door threshold, and the pump on my screen door.

Eric was terrific. He calls back right away if you leave a voice message on his cell phone. He works around your schedule (and, in our case, the painters and plumbers), is meticulous in his work, courteous, and a very nice guy. He doesn't make promises in his work that he can't keep. In fact, he errs on the side of caution when explaining what he can and cannot do for your job.
Description of Work: I redid our master bathroom, and asked Eric to come install a new vanity, hang mirrors, towel accessories, put in new baseboard molding, etc. He also replaced a rotted threshold in our garage.

I was working on a very short clock (the window was leaking when it rained hard). Eric went by my building based on our telephone conversation. He had pretty much determined what the problem was but did a second visit to make sure. He was on site a little later than expected (but called to let me know which I greatly appreciated). Followed up the next day to make sure everything was as it should be.

Eric responded within 45 minuets of receiving an early morning call. He gave me a reasonable time-cost estimate and returned that afternoon as scheduled with the necessary tools and supplies. Although the job took a bit more time and effort than anticipated (because of old-plumbing complications), he stuck to the original price estimate.
Description of Work: Connected drains for new kitchen sinks on 1st and 2nd floors of three flat apartment building.
Everything was done how I asked it to be done. Eric was on time with the job completion. The price is not cheap, but Eric and his crew do not perform cheap work. Everything was done professionally and they cleaned up after finished. He called to notify me of any surprises that occurred during the job.
Description of Work: 5 bedroom apartment painted, 3 interior door slabs hung, stair banister painted, toilet leak fixed, window pane repaired, vinyl tile floor repaired, window screens repaired, steel entry door hung and hardware installed, bathroom vanity installed, repaired 2 pieces of siding, installed 3 mini blinds and changed light bulbs.

Eric was very professional. I am a landlord and was not able to get to my property to meet with him but I told him the situation and he assessed what had to be done without me being there and just working with my tenant instead. He came back to do the repairs and everything went well. The only concern was that he was late showing up but he apologized and got the job done. Eric is a good craftsman and does not go the cheap and easy route when taking on a job, you will get professional work when you hire him.
Description of Work: Massive storm caused water to enter flashing in roof, needed to be repaired. Also kitchen sink was leaking and was fixed.
