Staff and tech were knowledgable. We paid for after hours visit. They charged $630 for a $59 part. 10 times the cost. Tech came in a personal vehicle and couldn’t provide a receipt for service and part replaced. Be concerned if you work with them for repair. They RAPE you on replacement parts. We have been using them for 10 years now, their service was excellent, they come and answer all your questions, always works safe with mask and they work neat and clean.

They are good and they stand behind their work. I will use them again.

I signed up for their contract, heating and air conditioning service, where they come out twice a year and prep the units. I've used them before but this is the first time I've signed up for contract.

Not well: I knew there was a leak from having it serviced last year. I was willing to have parts replaced this year. After the Tech, discover there was no freon, he decided to try to sell me on a new unit.

They responded in a timely fashion. Got the boiler working with an expensive part but we were told it was just a temporary fix. We got several quotes and decided to use another firm for our new boiler. Doorknobs did reimburse us for the part.

We have been their customer for 40 years.

It came in from the outside. At first it was believed to be a bird’s nest, but no, it was a rodent’s nest. But, at least they found it, otherwise air codes were all across the board of what it could be. It was a Saturday and an act of God. Their responsiveness was within a half an hour. It’s where experience comes in. They’re very professional. It took a little over an hour for the service to get completed.

My family has been going to them for years. I would recommend them.

Of the contractors that came to look at the job, Doornbos is the ONLY one who didn't tell us to put the air handler in the attic, which we did NOT want. Instead they actually listened to us and, as a result, they worked very hard to tuck the unit in the basement under the stairs. As well, they considered furniture locations and traffic patterns prior to installing the vents and ductwork. They were extremely clean and neat, worked quickly and met our needs for this system. They didn't try to sell us on an oversized, high-end expensive system. Instead, they presented three systems that would work, giving us the choice, but guided us with pros and cons on each. We are thrilled with the result! We highly recommend DOORNBOS for any of your HVAC needs. They are the best!

Everything is working fine and Tom efficiently and professionally did the work in a very difficult and cramped space. I was very grateful to Doornbos. Their office staff is also very helpful and friendly.

They were prompt and comprehensive in giving us an estimate and the price was competitive with other estimates we received. They completed the job as promised in one day and left the places in which they worked in and outside our house clean. We have had them do repairs and check ups throughout the years so we had confidence in using them for this big job and were not disappointed. We relied on their expertise and were very happy with the outcome. It was obvious that the estimator and the installers were very knowledgeable and proficient.

They always keep their appointments and have well trained, friendly service men. Gals in the office are a joy too.

We have used Doorknobs for years to maintain our AC and furnace and have always been impressed with the quality of the work, the honesty of the company and the integrity of the employees. Today I had two installers at my home. Sadly, I forgot to ask their names. I was told they would arrive between 8-9 am. They were at my door at 8:02. They were both pleasant, polite and respectful. Tarps were laid wherever they would be walking. When they left, there was no garage, no mess, no trace that they had spent 5.5 hours at my house. We will continue to use Doorknobs for our regular maintenance work and for any other HVAC issues we may have. Doorknobs is a great company who stands behind their work.

We live in a 19 year old home and noticed the A/C unit laboring through the last season, so started to look into replacement of the entire HVAC system due to what we believed to be an imminent failure during the upcoming summer. We were not in in a crunch, as the system still functions, so we intending on researching products and most importantly, contractors!! Well, a friend of mine who dabbles in some HVAC work suggested Doornbos, with which I was familiar based on their mailings and local advertisements. My research, some of which included Angie's List, revealed the company has been around for over 30 years and was reputable and a union shop and not a company which pays sub-standard workers $11.00 an hour to perform installs. All of their installers are NATE certified and have numerous years of experience and training. I was impressed with Mike, the sales support rep, who came out and conducted a comprehensive analysis of the home, the duct work, static pressures, temperatures and the like. He was very knowledgeable and was proud to explain how Doornbos conducts its business. Mike crunched the numbers and provided a fair price for the install, change-out. I had two other estimates after Mike, but told Mike that I was impressed with Doornbos and its reputation and signed the proposal for the install which was scheduled for the following week. The install crew was awesome and knew exactly what they were doing; they answered questions and explained various steps of the 8 hour process. They were both very experienced union technicians and had many installs under their belt; they too were proud to be employed by Doornbos and explained how the company does work the right way and never short cuts, as the owner believes in total quality for its customers. After the install, they comprehensively tested intakes, output, temps and the like to ensure the units were functioning properly. They were professional and tidy, and I was proud of myself for selecting Doornbos. I would definitely recommend this company and will use them for any HVAC needs.

lt went very well, they were able to diagnose the problem and, after sending away for a rare part, come back and make the repair. This was all done for a very reasonable price. I will be using Dornbos for any future Heating or A/C problems. It is well worth the money to get the job done right by a very professional business.

Our tech arrived promptly. He's been here now for several contract-provided HVAC service checks & cleanings. This time it was for the annual spring A/C check and cleaning. Everything checked out A-OK. We arranged with the company in the pre-call for the tech to be prepared to replace if needed or tape if still good the rubber hose outside by the compressor that leads to the house as it was a bad winter in Chicagoland. He came prepared with needed tape & hose. (Sorry, I don't know the exact name for the hose.) He checked it carefully and it just needed taping; looks good as new now. We've had Doornbos as "our" HVAC service company for decades. Local, family-owned business that in our experience does things right and stands behind its installed products and its service.They've installed, at our prior homes, a new furnace, A/C and hot-water tank. We think Doornbos is an excellent company.

He stood me up. He came to give me an estimate and was supposed to check with the village if installing a furnace in a certain room was okay. He said he would let me know if there were any violations with that particular unit but he never got back to me. I called him a couple of times but he still did not call.

Installed door switch on furnace. Was told after Spring and Fall maintenance checks that furnace and air conditioning systems were working ok and needed no additional work. But, a few weeks later, was told by a worker from Doornbos that the furnace was unsafe to operate, had a hole/crack in heating coil and all mechanisms were rusted out. Very strange that system was safe a few weeks earlier and unsafe a few weeks after maintenance agreement expired? I contacted Doornbos Heating & Air originally because the previous owners of home I purchased 7/2013 used them. But, after looking over maintenance records from previous homeowners and personally observing a somewhat less than "above the board" honesty and quality in their work, I will not use them again and cannot recommend them to others.
