As a single mom, I spent years saving up to replace all the windows in my home, and I chose Blue Ribbon for the job. They came with a five-year warranty, which gave me peace of mind, but my experience has been anything but reassuring. Recently, after a major rainfall, I noticed bubbling on the wall beneath one of the windows. Blue Ribbon sent out a technician to inspect the issue. The technician admitted that the bottom part of the window wasn’t caulked properly and then proceeded to "caulk the heck out of it." However, they suggested that the issue might be due to the tub, which seemed off to me. Wanting to get to the bottom of the issue, I hired a separate contractor to investigate. Upon ripping open the wall, we discovered mold and 75% saturation coming from below the window. When I called Blue Ribbon again, they now blamed the previous window. Despite my persistence, they finally suggested a "water test," but I questioned its effectiveness after they had already caulked everything. Since then, I have not received a response from Blue Ribbon. I am now in the process of contacting a lawyer to address this issue legally. This experience has left me very concerned about the other windows they installed in my home. Fair warning to anyone considering Blue Ribbon: their workmanship is poor, and their customer service is worse. Save yourself the headache and choose a different company.

We had quoted all of the popular brands of windows including Anderson, Pella and Marvin. We quoted Anderson through Home Depot and with Pella we went direct. Both the Anderson and Pella windows were quoted with just the window replacement and reusing the existing window frames. The Marvin windows were quoted through Blue Ribbon Millwork and the quote was for a complete replacement including new window frames. Surprisingly , both the Anderson and Pella quotes with just the window replacement came in higher than the Marvin full replacement. But I did not chose on price alone. The next thing I did was to look up the window ratings in Consumer Reports. Marvin Windows were rated the highest -ahead of both Anderson and Pella. Another factor in favor of the Marvin Windows was that Blue Ribbon would stain these windows for us where the other two said that we would have to do our own staining. The Marvin Windows(Integrity model) have a fiberglass exterior with a wood interior. I preferred the durability of the fiberglass exterior to the Aluminum clad exterior of the other two windows. The next step was to look up the rating of Blue Ribbon Millwork on Angie's list and I was happy to find nothing but good comments regarding this company. Blue Ribbon Millwork was very punctual and professional. They had to do a little extra work on leveling my patio door but they explained that they would rather spend extra time in correcting problems instead of repeating them. Our salesman was Wes Robinson and he very patiently answered my many questions and stopped by the house to check on the install and answer more of my questions. The total install took 3 days -- the windows were in place after the 2nd day but the exterior trim wasn't finished until the 3rd day. Our home is noticeably warmer and I hope that this helps to lower our heating bills. We have received many compliments on our new windows and my wife is thrilled with our new windows. My wife likes to open the curtains and pretend that she is at a ski lodge(she doesn't ski).

The guys were very professional, and even came back out the next day to fix one very minor thing that was missed. We had the house re-sided, and the workers didn't know it was okay to cut out the stone facade that was already there. Just a miscommunication on my part. They came out promptly the next morning, cut out the facade, and finished taping around the window. I would highly recommend Blue Ribbon Millwork.

Description of Work: We wanted to replace all of the windows in our 30 year old house . We replaced over 30 windows We had several quotes from Pella , Anderson replacement and then Marvin. Eric was the carpenter we spoke to. He was excellent and explained the difference between Pella and Anderson replacement windows. . They just slot in and you lose 1/2" to 1" of window and light. He was also not just a sales rep he was a carpenter as well . His level of expertise in his product and depth of description of what we custom full window replacements from Marvin are less expensive than replacement windows. Full replacement windows also have better insulation . He also replaced all the wood window trim and window sills that were rotted before they covered in Aluminum clad . This was one of the things he warned me to be aware of if we chose another contractor as they most often just cover the rotted trim with aluminum. No other company told nme they would repair the wood and cover it . We saved over $6000. They matched the wood stain of our existing woodwork in the basement perfectly. They were in an out in one day , they were neat , clean and polite. It was a great experience. We will eventually use them to replace our two sliders . Bllue Ribbin didnt offer me any special financing or any loss leader deals or enticing come ons to get my business. As a sales professional myself, they have a quality product, they are knowledgeable to the smallest detail, they are honest, and they did what they said they would an dbehaved in the most professional manner . I would absolutely use them again .
