Advantage Moving & Storage

This was a local move and four men were supposed to show up. Only three men showed up for the first four hours. Problem is, the hourly man rate is higher with three men vs four, so right off the bat they were charging more than quoted. They then billed me for four men and took almost a week to correct the problem and issue a credit. They broke a railing in a stairwell and no one from Advantage ever contacted me about a repair. I ended up repairing the railing myself as my house closing was rapidly approaching. Their communication and follow up is very weak. And the sales rep did the old "not-my-job" when I asked her about the repair issue. The guys doing the actual move were all very nice and polite. The office/sales people are the ones that leave you with a "slimy feel."

The guys who actually loaded my belongings in Chicago were professional and did their jobs. On the delivery end, the truck driver overslept and neither I, the local Wheaton employee who was going to help unload, nor his supervisor could reach him. The local employee left and luckily, he was willing to come back when my load finally showed up. BUYER BEWARE OF ESTIMATES THAT ARE NOT ESTIMATES! After doing lots of homework talking to many moving companies, I chose Advantage, a Wheaton company. I had a great experience with Wheaton previously and trusted I would again. Two people at Advantage, like the others, said I'd get an estimate and then my load would be weighed and an actual weighted and price would be determined. Turns out that Advantage's "estimate" is a "binding estimate" and the actual price. There was NO WAY my load was 5,000 lbs as estimated, and I never would have agreed to pay a fee for a 5,000 lb. load, especially since I was told otherwise. Needless to say, I was hot when told how much I owed. Advantage finally agreed to a price in line with the actual weight, but held my load hostage until they decided they could deliver it at the end of the week instead of the next day. Meaning, a driver kept my stuff on a truck (thankfully they didn't unload it), drove it to Cincinnati to pick up another load and then decided to deliver it - but not before oversleeping and causing more stress. I did call Wheaton corporate, but got no satisfaction and during the week I was waiting for my belongings, Advantage wouldn't talk to me.

We had a great experience with Advantage. Everyone was friendly and professional (estimator, office personel and movers) and the total bill came in under the estimate! That's a first for us, for sure. I would not hesitate to use them again or refer them to friends and family.

Our whole experience was wonderful. They just told us to point and tell them where it should go. They came in got right to work. They were clean and friendly. The unloaders were fabulous as well.

It went extremely well. I would definitely use them again the future. I would highly recommend them anyone.

The furniture was delivered with only one minor problem (for which we were reimbursed) and no breakage. Everyone involved was courteous, professional, helpful and efficient. That included the moving crew, the office personal, and the sales department. The movers were extremely hard working, and handled our furniture with care. They were very pleasant and neat. We highly recommend them, and can not say enough good things about the entire experience, especially after we were dumped at the last minute by another moving company.
