No so great The workers were great, harf working and delegent. Office was fine at the beginnig but things has gotten worse. They change the delivery day twice They made mistakes in the bill twice overcharging us and making calculation mistakes. They told me packing the bads is included in the pakage, they ended up charging us more $200 for wraping the matresses. I have already asked three times to be e-mail the final reciept so I canbe reimbursed from work, It has been a week and I have not recieved it. They charge you like the Pros and run what appear to be a Mom and Pop shop. I went with them to support a small local company, I am disappointed.

We used J&P to move from one suburb to another. Unfortunately, the movers called 15-20 minutes after the arrival time frame to let us know some movers overslept and they had not yet left. They arrived 2 hours late. Once they arrived, they were very fast and did a good job moving everything. They did have very low prices which was nice.

Excellent. Movers were prompt and courteous. We are definitely using them again.

We were moving to our new residence in Naperville from our rented town-home in Palatine and we decided to use the services of J&P moving company. We like patronizing local businesses and J&P came with some favorable reviews. However, we should have dug deeper before scheduling our move because what followed was nothing short of a nightmare for our family. We had called their office and scheduled a move and paid the advance amount of $50. We were given an estimate based on the size of our town-home. We insisted that someone from their company should come over and inspect our town-home prior to the move but they kept on saying that they didn't have the resources and that usually their estimates do not vary by more than 5-10%. We trusted these guys. On the day of the move three guys showed up. The leader of the pack was extremely nonchalant about the entire situation and kept on complaining that we had lots of stuff (more than what he had anticipated) and that he would need to call the office staff to get a revised estimate. We had moved all the boxes to our garage (the loading truck was parked right outside the garage for convenience) and asked them to start the loading process. Meanwhile, I decided to make a quick trip to the local U-haul to get some packing supplies. On my way back my wife called me and told me that the guys were refusing to load the boxes because they had found cockroaches in our garage. (an utter lie)We have never had any cockroaches in our home and garage. We had cleaned the entire garage over the weekend before moving all the boxes and we knew that there were no problems with cockroaches or other kinds of pests. I confronted the movers and asked them to show me a cockroach (as proof). They claimed that they had killed the cockroaches and then I asked them to show me a dead cockroach. When I insisted that they should produce a dead cockroach the main guy (the leader of the pack) lost his cool and started to verbally abuse me. He said that no way he was going to carry on with the move. In the meantime these guys had started unloading the boxes from the truck. We got into a heated argument because I was supposed to vacate my rental property and I had no back-up plan. I am a consultant and I travel for work. I have a 6 month old baby and there was no way my wife could have stayed in the townhome with all the boxes. We knew we had to finish the move as scheduled. What followed was something I had never imagined in my wildest dream. The main guy who had a violent temper decided to throw a few boxes from the truck in a fit of rage. In the process he damaged our property. When I started shouting my neighbors came out and witnessed this act of violence.They damaged a whole stack of my DVD's and an entire box which contained a lot of baby memorabilia and some of the other baby stuff. My wife got scared and she came out rushing from the house and after seeing the altercation she decided to call the cops. My neighbors were worried as well and even they decided to call the cops. A few police cars appeared on the scene and they interviewed all the concerned parties including our neighbors. As you can see in the attached police report it clearly indicates that our neighbors had narrated the chain of events as described in this post and they had confirmed about the culpability of the movers and testified about their violent acts. ( throwing the boxes from the truck) Overall, we never heard back from J&P comopany- not a single word. They never called us to formally apologize or leave us a message. In-spite of my hectic schedule, I decided to search for lawyers since I was very keen on suing this company. Unfortunately, most of the lawyers were more interested with the financial aspect of the case and less about the trauma which I had encountered. The damages which we had can’t be quantified.You can't really put a number against the first toy which we had bought for our little one even though it did cost us only a few dollars. The total financial damage that we incurred was not much but it was emotionally very significant. My wife and child were parked in a hotel for more than a week while I had to travel for work. We did manage to get help from our neighbors and managed to move over the next weekend. All of our original plans were jeopardized and my wife had to go through ****. Everybody knows that when your planned move gets botched the consequences are not limited to an isolated incident but the effects are far reaching. As I am writing this review, I have to re-live that entire experience and the whole idea was so stressful for me that I had avoided writing this review in-spite of receiving incessant reminders from my wife. I can only hope that an institution or platform like Angie's list would stop associating with an unprofessional, unethical and horrific company like J&P moving. I used to be an Angie's list patron but I have vowed never to use the platform ever again unless they abandon J&P moving company from their list of providers. I will do my best to spread awareness about the same via social media, word-of-mouth and direct conversation with friends, peers and colleagues.

They went over and above. They moved a piece of furniture so large I truly expected it to be beyond them. I believed I would have to cut it in sections to get it out of the house. They quickly and efficiently loaded and unloaded the trucks and were more than helpful

They got to our house on time around 10:30am and I invited them in. Looking around, the team leader, Brian, quickly got into a sour mood because apparently the lady who answered the phone when I made the reservation had "mis-estimated"; he said they should have had 4 guys instead of 3, and a larger truck or a 2nd truck, and consequently, it was going to take much longer than he had been led to believe. (As the homeowner, and being charged by the hour, this is exactly the last thing I want to hear.) How this was possible, I have no idea, because I had invited her to pull up our home listing on Zillow so she could see everything we had to move. So apparently the way they work, he stays on the truck, moving things into place, and the two younger guys carry everything out of the house. Well, for the whole first hour, every time I looked out the front window, he was up there in the truck, looking at his phone and laughing, flipping through pictures or Facebook or whatnot. This made me very angry, and planted the seed of doubt that perhaps his earlier speech about how it was going to take much longer than expected was a line of BS and he had every intention of milking me for as long as possible. If there wasn't much on the truck yet to organize, he should have been helping carry things to the truck, not screwing around on his phone, wasting time and costing me more money. I knew I was screwed. It was too late to hire someone else, and if I complain, how do I know they're not going to exact retribution on my belongings? I'm pretty much at their mercy. And at the rate things were going, I knew that what I had expected to cost $500 could well end up over a grand. So I put on a smile and decided to become the 4th man on the crew. The two younger guys were perfectly pleasant. But every hour and a half or so, the three of them would retreat into the cab of the truck for 10-15 minutes and take a smoke break. His explanation was that they were "just beat" from all the lifting. (Hint: when you're charging someone by the hour, you either don't take breaks, or you disclose them in advance and make sure you're not charging them for your downtime.) I did what I could, and kept carrying the heavy stuff I was paying them to carry even while they took their breaks, but I'm in my 40s and have asthma. I should never have been put in this position. My wife went and got them cans of Red Bull to keep them fueled and happy, and jumbo slices of pizza around lunchtime. Brian's mood improved after lunch and the pace of the truck loading seemed to pick up a little. We finally had the truck full after about 5 hours, and it still didn't have about a quarter of our belongings, so we knew we had to go to the storage unit, unload, and make a 2nd trip for the rest. The unloading and 2nd round-trip seemed to go faster than the first load and we were finally done around 6. My final bill - which I had expected to be around $500 - was around $800, not including the cost of Red Bulls, pizza & sodas, the old guitar and a bike that I didn't need anymore that I gave the kids, and the knee injury I incurred jumping down from the truck because there was no visible step. Also, it wasn't until this past weekend, when I hired a different company to move our stuff from the storage unit to the new house, that I saw that several items had been damaged, including a new dresser I had just built for my wife a few months ago. End result: I'm giving them a D. Why am I not giving them an F? At least they didn't steal my stuff. I hired a company for the move-in this past weekend called The Professionals Moving Company, and seeing how quickly & professionally they did the same job (4 guys, 2 trucks, 1 trip, all done in 4 hours, same price), compared to J&P, it was like night and day. If I ever have to move again, I'm hiring The Professionals again. If for some reason they're not available, I'm hiring anyone else but J&P.

Very perplexed by the glowing reviews on Angie's List- I will not be using this moving company again. A team of five came out and were on time. Minus the foreman, they were all friendly, however, they were clearly very inexperienced. The foreman was very unprofessional- he repeatedly complained about the move to me and audibly to his team, despite the fact everything was clearly communicated to him from his secretary prior to the move. All boxes were already packed and taped, the only task required was moving the boxes to the trucks and wrapping furniture (as previously communicated to him prior to coming out for the move). They wrapped SOME of our furniture, but my wife and I had to constantly monitor them to repeatedly ask them to do it, even though it was agreed in the move to wrap the furniture (and I thought standard practice with movers as well). It took them 15 hours (8:00AM to 11:00 PM) to complete what I would consider a very standard (and easy move since it's going to one storage unit). I recently had New City Moving move out of our storage unit into our new apartment, and they had to spend time wrapping our furniture that J&P did not wrap. I'd easily recommend them as they were very professional, wrapped furniture, and completed the same move in 6 hours. TL;DR - Use another moving service; these guys complained all day about having to move boxes and wrap furniture (i.e. their job), and took 15 hours for a 2 BR (1600 sq ft) job.

The cost was less than the other moving services I check out. They charged by the hour, but they got the job done so much quicker than expected. They were quick, efficient, pleasant, and cautious; nothing damaged. If I needed moving services again, I would not hesitate to use J&P Moving.

It starts with office staff, Bonnie, she is so.courteous and arrived at my home to review the pieces I needed to move. I was hesitate with moving the grand Yamaha, but she assured me her crew has moved pianos. It arrived beautifully, I appreciated the crew lead by Ryan. They too were punctual and pleasant to work with. Ryan was amazing because he understood Los Angeles traffic and had to make a stop in LA. ,and then onto Orange County. His timing was excellent, and he got from point A to B in amazing time. My belongings were in perfect condition. Efficient and pleasant to work with was my experience. Thank you, JP Moving!

The move went perfectly. They padded our hardwood floors and move a number of really heavy items including a fire proof file cabinet into our basement without any mishaps or damage. They were quick and efficient, professional and courteous. Great guys and we would definite use them again!

David & Brian were fantastic! Prompt, professional and everything went well. Really pleased they were able to save the desk by disassembling it and then reassembling it in the driveway so someone could use it. Bonnie & Patti in the office were great to work with as well. Compared them to Two Men and a Truck - they were cheaper and could do the job sooner.

They came an hour late. They were supposed to show up with 2 trucks and 6 guys. They actually showed up with 2 tucks and 4 guys. One of the trucks left right away because the worker did not feel like working that day. Two hours later another truck and 2 guys showed up and then left right away again. A third truck showed up at 11:30 and we were supposed to be out of the house by noon. They did not load everything until 1:30. The last truck that showed up took our stuff to their office and kept our stuff for five days with no phone calls telling us when they were going to deliver our stuff. I am very unhappy with their service. Please consider using a different moving company.

Very well - professional from start to finish.

It went very well. Picked up furniture and other items at an apartment, dropped off some furniture at a house and then loaded up other furniture and household items and took them to a storage unit. Unloaded everything and put them into the storage unit. The movers were professional.

The 3 man crew of Ken, Billy and Danny were great. Very professional and accommodating.

Ken and Dave were on time, friendly and professional. They worked hard and did a great job.

The hardest part of this was doing the quote process. The description of items is a bit confusing because they are going by weight of items. I asked for an onsite quote and they were out within a couple of days. They responded quickly to all questions. I found their pricing to be better than other competitors. At the "end of the day" there was nothing cheap about their services. We scheduled a move date and had to change it due to a change on our end. Again, response was quick. On the move date, the crew arrived on time and as soon as we did our walk through, they started with the move and were able to finish by the end of the day. The crew was hard working, very courteous and efficient in their process. I had NO damage to any items. I would definitely use J & P Moving again and highly recommend them.

J & P exceeded all expectations. From the scheduling all the way to the move date, they were extremely professional and hard working. Additionally, they communicated well and were very patient. For example, our new home has hard wood floors. They helped us place the fabric protectors on the furniture. They really went above and beyond. Thank you!
