Overall it was ok. Grant it it was late fall,but luckily not to cold. There was three men that came to help me move. They acted professional and were respectful to me and my property. They handled everything with more care than I expected. The packed my things with a lot of care and they used quality shipping material to do so. The movers packed my whole apartment (with my help) within 3 hrs. I was happy with their eagerness to agent me out fast. They advised me after they were done moving me out that they were going to take a quick break and meet me at my condo. I was not TOO comfortable with watching strangers drive away with my whole apartment in their truck and having them "meet me" at my new place. So I did what any self respecting person would do and I kept both eyes on that truck at all times. So yes, I followed them and waited by the truck for 20 mis. as they took a well earned break. After they were done, they followed me to my new condo which was not to far away. They promptly began to unload the truck and begin to move in my things. The reason I am not comfortable giving an "A" rating is because there some things that I feel we're not handled properly. The movers had some difficulty moving in my large sofa. One of the movers took it upon himself to remove my sliding closet doors out of there tracks so that they would have more space to fit my large sofa. At first I was OK with it, but then when that attempt didn't work, the mover didn't place the door back and I had to remind him as he was walking out that the doors needed to be put back on their tracks. Well he did it quick and didn't check the fit properly. He attempted to close the door after he slid it back on its track, but it didn't shut properly. He forced it closed and ended up chipping off the paint of the wall and dislodging the floor molding towards the back. I am still to this day fighting with my closet doors to make sure they close right. The move in was quicker and I didn't really care where things were placed. After I confirmed all my things were moved in I thanked the movers and I was quickly given an Angie's list review card to fill out. I didn't like that too much, would have preferred to do that one I checked all my things. The shock was the final tally of the bill. Mind you I was quoted a ball park figure of $350 - $450 when I first scheduled the move. Then a couple of days before the move, I received an e-mail with an updated quote of around $650 give or take. I guess this was based on what I informed them of what was needed to be moved. What I wasn't expecting was the over $900 charge on the bill. That was in shock to see $930 some odd dollars and change. I was tired and it was late so I was not in the mood to dispute, but in all fairness I was not charged for some of the "undisclosed" item that needed to be moved. I think it was done as an incentive for the men to get a better tip from me which I could not blame them for. The tally with tip was well over a $1000.00. Out of pocket. To sum it up. It was my first time hiring movers so I didn't really know what to expect , but if you decide to hire J&P moving, my advice to you is to give them as accurate of an inventory of all that is needing to moved so that you can get the most accurate quote and then take that quote add a 1/3rd of the cost to that plus gratuity ( $20 per mover) and that's probably what you should expect to pay when it's all done. Yes, I would hire them again, but I will be better prepared.

This went extremely well. They were able to help in such short notice. Very professional workers.

When I asked for a bid, I received an email bid based on my request within 3 hours--which I thought was excellent. The bid was followed up almost immediately with a phone call by a very nice young woman, to discuss specifics and any other additional concerns that I may have had. The dining set holds a great deal of personal memories for me, it's a set that my parents purchased when they built the house that my family grew up in. It was important that the pieces be packed well and not damaged in the move and J&P took that to heart. One the day of the move, John and Andy arrived as scheduled and provided "white glove" service, wrapping, taping, and packing the complete set. They showed tremendous respect, not only for my furniture, but for the condo the furniture came out of and the place it was to be stored. They worked clean, and efficient, and did a tremendous job. The truck they arrived in could move a small house or a two bedroom condo. I appreciated that they came with the right tools and equipment to do the job--It felt like they really listened to and responded well to my concerns. I think that I received excellent service at a very reasonable price, and that it was a great value. I recommend J&P highly, and will use them again, then next time I need something moved.

This has been an excellent eperience; the receptionist was delightful to speak with and was engaged to determine what my needs were and find out how much the services would cost. My furniture included 2 spinet pianos, which were moved at an extra cost of only $50.00 dollars per piano. The moving crew introduced themselves and were friendly and professional. This was a very hard working crew, and began immediately after the paperwork was completed. They took great care to shirkwrap all my furniture and also use heavy duty padding. They were very careful in removing the large furinture items, no bumping into or damaging of my newly decorated walls. The company was flexiable, I called to request that a large heavy big screen telelvision be moved out to a second location, they let me know this would not be a problem. Of course the rate went up, due to this extra item and second delivery stop. My furniture will remain in their storage facility for a month, while my wood flooring is installed and finished. I look forward to J and P returning the furniture with the same care and precision they used to remove it. Their rates are good and fair, I had called many companies before and found significantly higher rates, even before the additional large item and stop was added. I think they are a first class business.

These guys were great. Made the move as easy as possible. They were very professional and flexible, willing to move certain areas as needed and followed our instructions without issue. The guys were very personable and hard working, a great value Also, the company has a $30 stretch wrap fee - this is awesome as I have moved before and other movers have tried to charge per roll of wrap and tape and it gets quite costly. $30 for all the wrap, tape, and blankets needed is a great deal

They arrived on-time There were 3 guys they unloaded a very poorly packed truck with out any additional damage and placed everything where I asked and assembled some things for me. They were polite and friendly and all spoke fluent English. They were careful of my floors (new hardwood) and never complained about all the stairs. Overall I was very happy with the service and will definitely use them again.

While J&P was not the lowest quote I received for this move, I selected them based on prior reviews. The rate was $130 for the trip plus $130/hr for three men with a minimum of 3 hours. The entire move took 2:40 and we tipped an additional $20 per worker. The gentlemen that performed our move were very courteous, professional, efficient, and eye candy for my wife. Nothing was broken or scratched during the move, including the walls of the buildings. We will definitely use again. A few important notes for those considering J&P moving: -Moves of certain items are not included in the fee and require additional charges because they will pack and shrink wrap these items to protect their liability. These items include large mirrors, flat screen TV's, etc. We moved these items ourselves and had no such charges. The charge quoted was $40. -Shrink wrapping is not included and is available at an additional charge. We did not use shrink wrapping service. -You should transport any hazardous chemicals or cleaning products, propane grill tanks, etc yourself as they are not licensed for hazardous material transportation. -We were asked to sign a document which included a statement that limited their liability to 30 cents per pound per article. While we did not have any issues with our move, I don't know what the effect this would have had if something had been broken and why exactly this limit would have been imposed.

Our movers Emil, Dan, and Chris were wonderful! Very hard working and professional. They took care of our belongings and our new walls. Very happy with our service.

We contacted several movers for our move from a 2 bedroom apartment in Chicago to a 3 bedroom house in New Jersey. J&P's quote was one of the best, and included a full packing service and the move. Prior to the move, someone came to assess the inventory for the move. Packing was scheduled for 7/12/12 and the move was scheduled for 7/13/2012. Our apartment building gives a 3 hour limit for the freight elevator and the loading dock, which I confirmed would be adequate for the move out. On the day of the packing, there were 4 individuals sent to pack our apartment. While they were there, they did a great job packing everything and everything was handled with care. However, after they finished about 65% of the packing they said that they would have to leave to do another job and that they would finish everything on day 2. I asked if they would still be able to finish the remaining 35% of the packing prior to my elevator/dock time and do the whole move during the docktime as planned. They said yes. On day 2, they only sent 3 individuals to perform the packing and the move out. The remaining packing took much longer than expected, it cut into our dock/elevator time, and they went significantly beyond the allotted time. Needless to say, this became a big issue with my building staff since someone else had paid for the next time slot. The movers were noticeably frustrated because they were trying to get things done, however one individual in particular (Brian) was completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they ran out of packing material and couldn't appropriately pack some artwork and clothing. Those were just taken onto the truck as-is. This only upset him further and he went so far as to say that he didn't care if things broke. He even told us that he doesnt pack bathrooms because he is a germaphobe! As you can imagine, we were worried that things were going to get damaged and were were very agitated by the unprofessionalism. We spoke to the manager and staff who assured us that things would be transported appropriately. In the end, all of our belongings did get moved without issue. The driver, Kenny, who also was part of the packing process and both the move in/move out, was a very professional individual and hard worker. Here is what this company could have done better:- Obtain a more thorough inventory so that they could send the correct amount of packing material- Obtain a more thorough inventory so that they would not underestimate the amount of time needed for the move out process- Allocate the right number of packers and enough time for packing so that they could get the packing completed on Day 1- Send an extra person on day #2 when they knew that there was still much left to be done.There should have been better communication between the packers/movers and the management so that things could have run more smoothly In retrospect, everything was moved securely and arrived on time and in good condition. Their price quote was not too far off from the price we paid. The move into the new place was much smoother and the guys did a great job putting all the furniture/boxes into the correct rooms and reassembled whatever furniture needed it. During the move out we were ready to give them a C or D rating. They made up for it on the delivery end of the move. I would recommend this company with the caveat that you get verbal assurance that they have taken a thorough inventory and will send enough packing material and that they send enough individuals to get the job done on time.

This was a great move - professional and efficient!

Overall, it went okay. The movers worked really hard, no doubt. They worked on a very hot day and barely took breaks. All four guys carried large heavy furniture up two flights of stairs and did not complain once. They also stayed within the estimate given, which was a plus. The project leader was quite diligent and efficient as he was keeping everyone on track and getting the furniture organized well. I appreciated all the mens hard work that day and tipped them well. My only complaint which kept me from giving them an A rating is the damage done to my very new and very expensive sleep number bed. Three days before the move date, I called the office to make sure that the movers knew how to dismantle and move a sleep number bed. Although the movers did know how to disassemble and reassamble, they did not at all wrap the pillow top mattress with shrink wrap. The pillow top and mattress were damaged by dirt (possibly having it dragged into the truck). I was told that the mattress was covered by a blanket, but the blanket fell off. To their credit, they did apologize for the mistake, but I expected that of all things to be wrapped well, it would have been the white mattress. I was disappointed since it is very difficult to clean and quite inconvenient. For that alone, I gave a lower rating for professionalism.
