Absolutely horrible. Not one aspect of the job is with flaw. Defective workmanship throughout the Project. Rendered a $3700 spa tub useless and void of warranty. Crooked walls,Sharp jagged metal trim exposed. Had to hire new contractors to redo work. Customer service deplorable.

Very disgruntled customer has reviewed us on every page of the internet possible. We offered civil solutions and were greeted with aggression. We wish you luck in your current and future projects.

We contact America's Best Exteriors and ended up working with John Davison, we scheduled an appointment time that work best for my husband & I; John came out and access the roof, once he had accessed our roof he was able to provide us with how much it would cost and time frame. We chose our roof color and scheduled the work to be done. We are extremely pleased with the professionalism of John and the roofers, they did a tremendous job. They made sure to clear any debris from our yard/driveway. Upon the completion of our roof, John called us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and if we had any questions.
Description of Work: We had our roof redone due to hail, storm damage.

I wanted a roof over the front porch of my Cape Cod style house because the steep pitch of the main roof left ice dams on the porch every winter and friend had fallen. I called A&D because I needed a new roof that would match and new siding on the second floor. Mike listened to my suggestions, designed the roof appropriately but we ran into problems with the building permit and needed a minimal zoning variation which delayed the work. We had a little miscommunication during those problems but it was cleared up. Mike and his son and their crews were very courteous and punctual and cleaned up after themselves. The city required that they put posts into the ground rather than attaching them to the porch. My only complaint was that they had to dig down through the soil and clay to pour concrete footings and they did not backfill around the concrete. It has been extremely difficult to try to back fill because the clay hardened and it looks ugly. They also painted the wrought iron railings on the porch and, when the crew did a poor job, Mike junior came back, sanded it down and re-painted it..

Responded to a flyer left on my door regarding damage to my house from the July 1st, 2012 storm. Met with field rep Al on July 18th. He proceeded to inspect the house and garage and claimed there was enough visible damage to get me a new roof and siding. He gave me instructions on filing a claim and had me sign a "Subject To" Agreement stating if he got me approved for replacement with my insurance company, Americas Best Exteriors would perform the work. I had no problem with that until further along in the process when I discovered that I had agreed to sign over my entire insurance settlement to Americas Best Exteriors with no regard to the actual cost of replacement. Upon receiving estimates from competetive contractors, I realized I was being scammed. Requesting an itemized estimate before I would allow work to proceed, I was told that was not what I agreed to. I refused to allow Americas Best Exteriors to perform work on my house and was informed I would be hearing from their legal department. Americas Best Exteriors proceeded to attempt to sue me for over 6 thousand dollars for "Liquidated Damages" per their "Subject To" Agreement. After retaining legal representation, they attempted to settle for roughly half of the original amount. Suit was dismissed in DuPage County Court on November 20th, 2012. Currently exploring options regarding filing complaint with Attorney Generals office, and recovery of fees. This is just to clarify some of the points made in the response from Americas Best Exteriors. The "FREE" service of meeting with the insurance adjuster comes only after the "Subject to Agreement" has been signed. The only "FREE" part of this service is the initial meeting an visual inspection of the home. Also, it was implied that I was looking to undercut the rate given by my insurance company so I could pocket the extra money, insinuating I was attempting to commit insurance fraud. The fact of the matter is, after receiving estimates from some reputable companies, there was a substancial difference in the cost of repairs versus the insurance estimate indicating a very high profit margin for the contractor. As stated before, I simply requested an itemized estimate for material and labor before allowing work to begin, which was heatedly denied by the field rep. The intentions were to work with the insurance company to allow adjustments to the estimates to keep everything on a fair playing field. I am highly insulted that this contractor questions my integrity and accuses me of attempting to commit insurance fraud. I am glad I fought this, and the fact the case was dismissed speaks loudly to the type of tactics used by this company.

Response from Americas Best Exteriors LLC
In response to [member name removed]comments, we would like to make a few things clear to anyone interested in working with Americas Best Exteriors. First of all, our field rep was there to help [member name removed] through every step in the claims process from start to finish. This is a FREE service that we provide to help homeowners receive a just and fair settlement from their insurance company for damage that occurred to their home. Our rep met with the homeowner, reviewed all the damage, and met with the insurance adjuster to review the home and point out any and all damage to it. Once again, this is a FREE service to help the homeowner. The homeowner openly admits to signing our "Subject To Agreement" which states that if the home gets approved for work through the efforts and service of our staff, that we will be the ones to perform the work to the home. Insurance companies use a program called "Xactimate" to calculate the financial reimbursement for damage caused to the home. These numbers reflect the average cost for material and labor in each region of the United States for the service being provided. These numbers are usually lower than actual retail costs and are updated regularly to ensure costs are accurate and don't exceed any more of a financial payout as they have to. It would obviously not be in an insurance companies best interest to give away free money. Americas Best Exteriors agrees to perform the work on the home for the cost the insurance company deems reasonable. Once again, the profit margin on an insurance restoration rarely ever matches or exceeds retail costs. [member name removed] took it upon himself to try and get estimates much lower than what his insurance company seemed reasonable to repair his home in an effort to keep any money that was leftover after the work. This is NOT what the insurance company gave him the money for. We provided a FREE service helping him through the claims process, only to find out he was going to have an outside party come in and undercut the rate given by his insurance company. We are sorry [member name removed] had a bad experience, but we only wished to perform the work laid out by his insurance company and get what we agreed upon, with the agreement that he admittedly signed. There will always be a contractor that will agree to do the work for a few dollars less, but as we all know, you get what you pay for. We have terrific track record for our customer service and received several awards for our zero complaint rating. We hope [member name removed] will call us to help him in the future. Perhaps to repair any corners that he cut by trying to get his job done as cheap as possible.
