Steve was a pleasure to work with. He was on time for the estimate and the job. Steve and two co-workers were at my home from 9-1. They were efficient and clean. My 2nd floor is much cooler now, my sons can actually sleep upstairs when it is hot out. The bath exhaust fan works great.
Description of Work: 1)Insulate 2nd floor attic area with owens corning pro pink blow in fiberglass R38 value over existing insulation. 2) Install roof vents (2) for 2nd level. 3)Install Attic Fan with automatic thermostat. 4)Install 2nd floor bath exhaust fan with damper and roof cap with wall switch.

The team was able to perform the blown-in insulation and roof venting services but the after several attempts to "shoot" foam insulation into the exterior walls it became apparent that the mortar joints were too narrow and they would be unable to complete the work. All Comfort was extremely apologetic for not being able to complete the work on which they bid and they refunded the outstanding balance of my deposit during the same business week. I will definitely use them again.

Steve Carroll arrived as promised and inspected the attic. I was also concerned about how cool the family room was compared to the rest of the house. Steve used a laser thermometer (way cool toy) to take the temperature of the family room at various locations. He did the same with the adjoining kitchen. He removed a switch plate in the family room to check for existing insulation. He recommended that I install foam insulation pads from the hardware store behind the switch plates and outlet covers. He explained to me how the ceiling/roof was insulated since there is no access. In the crawl space he provided some ideas for keeping the cold out in the winter. He measured that space and then wrote up an estimate while he was at the house and answered my questions. I requested the work be scheduled on a Friday and the crew of two showed up as promised. They put down drop cloths to protect the floor, completed the work as in the proposal and cleaned up before they left.
Description of Work: Insulated the attic area with Owens Corning ProPink Loosefill Insulation to achieve an R value of 49. Installed vents at the rafter ends to provide air flow. Re-screened a vent on one of the gable ends. Insulated a crawl space under a family room addition. Applied 2" foam board to the walls and R19 loose batting at the rim joists.

They scheduled an appointment at a convenient time for us. They followed up, confirmed the appointment, and arrived on time. Steve Carroll explained what they'd propose to do, took his time, and even wore booties into our home. On the day of the work, the team arrived on time, placed drop clothes to protect our interior finishes, and even vacuumed up when complete. They were great.

I had an excellent experience with this company, and I highly recommend them. Very happy with the end result of their work as well.
Description of Work: First off, the gentleman who came to give the quote Mr. Steven Carroll was very thorough with explaining everything. Secondly, the gentleman that came to do the work were equally thorough with the work, very clean and on time. Absolutely a wonderful company, would recommend them to anyone.

Overall everything was fine. Our only objection was with the office staff who was to schedule the work and handle the deposit and contract. She was less than professional and often confused. I therefore had to schedule directly with Steve. She also implied that she didn't believe we had sent in our deposit, when it arrived late only because of the Martin Luther King holiday.
Description of Work: We have a 50+ year old home that was in need of additional insulation in the attic. Steve was on time for the estimate appointment and took a good deal of time figuring out what we needed and explaining everything. When it came time for installation, his staff arrived on time and were very professional. They completed the work in the amount of time that they had estimated.

This process was a little different than I had expected (just due to lack of research and questions on my part). It involves drilling a lot of holes in the ceiling (about 25 per room), which inevitably puts a fair bit of plaster dust in the air. The two employees did a good job of covering everything with plastic, but there was still a bit of plaster dust film on surfaces to vacuum up afterwards. Not a criticism of the workers, just a comment to those who have this sort of work done. Due to the dust, I decided in the middle of the work to cancel blowing in insulation in a third room where we had some photography equipment. All Comfort was quite willing to make this change, which I appreciated.

Robert came to price the job. He was polite and clean and very competent, as well as warm and good at explaining to someone who didn't know much about insulation yet. He was open to discussing pros and cons of different approaches and offered a few "short cuts" ideas to save money or do the job in phases. The workmen arrived as scheduled and did a great job. They were friendly and polite and did the job as scheduled. They vacuumed and cleaned up everything at the end of the job.
Description of Work: I live in a 1929 Tudor with steep roofs and large knee walls. There was a 7-10 degree difference with the upstairs (!) colder than the down. They increased my R11 attic to an R-49 by BLOWING IN FIBER GLASS and dammed and batted. They also insulated accessible slopes from the attic by cutting through as possible. Finally, my closet alcove (40-degrees before) needed drilling through the interior and then filling with insulation, plugging and rough patching the holes.

All Comfort's final price matched the estimate. They even filled some additional space below the stairs to the second floor, which jut out into the garage for no extra charge. Their estimate was almost half of another estimate we received for blown cellulose insulation, and similar to a third estimate we received for blown fiberglass insulation. The sales person who gave the estimate was the only one of the three to take advantage of a hole in the garage ceiling to poke through and determine how much insulation was actually in the space (very little). The crew that blew the insulation was prompt, courteous, and did a good clean-up job. We were very happy with this job.

Everything went smoothly-from the thorough review of all attic insulation (Steve) to scheduling to the actual work. The workers were courteous and cleaned up well when finished.
Description of Work: All-Comfort personnel blew in loose insulation into my first floor attic - increasing the existing to R-38. They also insulated a "knee wall" between the attic and the upstairs bathroom. They also installed a roof vent for a bathroom exhaust fan that had been exhausting into the attic.

From the initial phone call, we waited about a week and a half for someone to come out to do the estimate. The estimate was a little bit higher than the other bid we'd received, but All Comfort was recommending a higher grade of insulation so I went with them. I mailed in my 25% deposit the next day. They had initially told me that insulation would be scheduled for two weeks after the deposit is received, but that Monday I got a call asking if they could send a team over on Tuesday. We agreed and the team completed the install as proposed. They were prompt and efficient. Shortly after the team left, we noticed that the insulation was visible through our attic window and it looked awful. I called All Comfort and Steve arranged to send someone over the next day to remedy the problem.
Description of Work: All Comfort blew R-27 insulation on top of our attic's existing R-11 insulation. They also blew insulation into the walls of a very poorly insulated bathroom on our house's addition (it had been added on in 1980). To do so, they cut 2-inch circular holes between the studs, blew in the insulation and filled the holes (I will need to patch, sand and paint over the circles myself).

Did a nice job. I was pretty happy from start to finish. They were done in just a couple of hours. They broke down a quote into a lot of different options which allowed us to compare with other companies. Since they do venting as well, they offered a quote on this. (I did get an opinion from another company that we needed the extra venting). So there price on that came in very nicely. One minor complaint. They borrowed my extension ladder which was fine, but they did not take it down when they were done. (As my wife cannot do this, it stayed up all day until yours truly could take it down in the rain). I spoke with the receptionist who said she would follow up.

We had organized it so that the new roof would go on two days after the insulators did their job. The work was done on time, but that's where things go wrong. It rained hard the next day and lots of water leaked past their roof patches. A considerable amount of plaster and paint damage was done. Some walls eventually began to mold. Some plaster fell off and paint blistered. Thankfully, none of my tenants had property damage due to them being home during the flood. The repairs cost nearly as much as the bill. We were forced to take them to court and had to make a couple appearances before they decided to pay the claim in full. We let them off easy on the expenses. Thankfully, our roofer came rushing over the night of the flood to do some makeshift repairs. They are absolute heros, and they didn't even charge extra. The court settlement included court costs of $2920.40. I gave them a B for price. If only it hadn't leaked!
Description of Work: They insulated a 6 unit apartment building flat roof with blown in Owens Corning insulation. They patched access holes on the roof surface. The sq. ft. estimate was for a 3000 sq. ft. roof.

I contacted the company in June, was informed that they would not be working in Chicago until August and they would call me at that time. I was willing to wait because of their rating with Angie's list. I called again the first week of August and was told they were only doing work in certain parts of Chicago and if that changed they would call. I decided not to wait and had the work completed by another company. As some stated in their review of this company, they advertise working in Chicago, I'm not sure why.

WE ARE VERY SORRY THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SERVICE YOUR AREA OF CHICAGO. IN ORDER TO PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICE, WE MUST LIMIT OUR GEOGRAPHICAL AREA. WE ARE LOCATED IN THE WESTERN SUBURBS AND DO NOT SERVICE THE FAR SOUTH/SOUTHEAST AREAS OF CHICAGO AND SUBURBS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CHICAGO PHONEBOOKS ARE NOT DIVIDED INTO SPECIFIC NEIGHBORHOODS AND WE MUST ADVERTISE IN CHICAGO AS A WHOLE. WE HOPE THIS CLEARS UP ANY UNINTENTIONAL MISUNDERSTANDINGS.

The interior walls of my condo are not very stable and they did a very careful and thorough job. Left everything very much in order and neat. Had a delay in start on day of work due to sick call, but called immediately to let me know and then sent out a supervisor to my place so I could leave for work. My only complaint was some inflexibility in scheduling - originally to be done in August, but I got a call on a Wednesday or Thursday in mid-July telling me they were doing the work the following Tuesday. Both my work schedule and planned out of town visitors made this impossible and we had to negotiate to get a date scheduled. Before and after that issue, all went very well.

Steven Carroll came out promptly and checked out my two attic areas. He was very pleasant and we chatted for quite a while. We had received several other quotes from various companies- one could do insulation, another could do roof vents; no one wanted to do both jobs. Steven's personality definitely won us over. His company finished the job on time, as scheduled, and cleaned up after themselves.

John came to give me the estimate, he answered all my questions and explained what he would do. I was called a few days earlier than our originally scheduled date to see if they could come the next day. This was fine, but I had asked them to call and had given my cell number several times, so missed the call and had to work my schedule at the last minute. The workers were neat and cleaned up after themselves. They removed some boxes the previous owner had left in the attic that I could not get to with out charging me. The only issue I have is that many more holes than I expected were punched into the dining room wall and the patching was very poor. I will have to hire a painter to fix this. The fireplace was my biggest concern. I don't notice any difference as far as the drafts and did have to purchase a chimney balloon to block the flue. There is still cold air coming in, but I don't know if what I had done should have stopped it. Overall, I am happy with the work done.
Description of Work: Owens corning non-combustible pro pink insulation blown into fireplace cavity, removed siding, drilled and plugged sheathing, replaced siding. Blew R19 value over accessible 2nd floor attic, filled in cracks and crevices, put R30 batts at high knee walls, covered with Tyvek Housewrap and added batt to attic access panel. Injected foam insulation into corner of dining room by punching a number of holes in and rough patching wall. I also asked for an estimate to insulate the floor of the 2 bedrooms above the garage. I did not have this done as it was too expensive for me at the time, an additional $597.00.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and do respond to all of our calls quickly. Our office is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm with calls always being answered. Even if all of our representatives are busy on other lines, we ALWAYS return calls immediately. The implication that we did not respond to this customers phone calls is simply not true. Our other reports testify to the type of customer service All Comfort Insulation provides.

Their website (lots of information) said they serve Chicago and surrounding suburbs. I called (December 2005) the number for Chicago to schedule them to look at the job and provide an estimate. I was told that they are so busy that they are only providing service to the Addison area (their home-base) and wouldn't even schedule appointments for Chicago estimates or work until April or May. They shouldn't claim to provide service to an area if they won't. I would consider this company in the future, however, while I can understand the need to schedule new work a few months ahead, it is frustrating and disappointing that they refused to come out to provide an estimate.
