They tore down the old roof and installed the new one. When I asked for a bid, I requested that they bid on also installing the vents to terminate the appliance hood and bathroom fans to the roof. When they tore down the existing roof they also destroyed the existing weathervane. Smashed it up and broke it. It had been on this house since the 60's. Also, when we inspected the roof, there were nails fully exposed. They did not fall under the next tile. Some were not even hammered down all the way. We chalked everything off so that they could repair it. We had to do this several times because they kept missing them. Also, when I looked in the attic to see how he extended the vents to the roof, they were attached via 1 nail hanging to the top rafters. This is an HVAC nightmare as hot air hits the cool air in the attic space causing condensation and mold, rot, etc. He also used the wrong type of vent cover for these items on the roof. When I called him on it he said he was not an HVAC guy and was just doing me a favor. I told him that I did not ask him to do me a favor but to bid on a job that include the vents. I also called the city to see why they had not inspected due to the permit charge that was included in the bid process. The city said that a permit was not acquired. They came out and inspected and fined Archibald for not obtaining a permit. Also, they said a separate permit should of been requested for the vents. I had to ask Archibald's to come out twice to clean the gutters because of the nails, shingles, pop bottles and cigarette butts that were left in them. Ultimately, they extended the roof workmanship warranty as the manufacturers warranty was nulled because the shingles were not installed per manufacturers specifications. We had to hire Brizee to redo all the vents and Archibald's split the cost of that with us. Now, this past winter, we are getting icicle's on the overhang which we never had in previous years. This could be an indicator of minimal air movement in the attic. I am not sure if they cut the roof peak correctly for the ridge cap they installed. Whenever the owner would leave the site, his crew stopped working and had many smoke breaks.
Description of Work: Remove the old shake roof and Install a new architectural roof. Install vents to terminate the 4 bathrooms and the kitchen vent to the roof.

The TPO material was a bright white color which caused a glare on the second building apts. It wasn't a big deal but I believe they should have informed me of the various colors which could have been used to keep glare down, they did have alternatives but was never brought up in discussion. At first I thought they had done a great job as it looked okay. Then the first rain came and the leak was still there. Now to be fair the roofer did advise me that their might still be a leak after the install because of the seam where the tar meets the TPO metal edging. but didn't give me the impression it couldn't be fixed. which is where my mistake was made. I should have asked for a guarantee of fixing problem before letting them do the work. I have called the company 5 times since repair was done to come and stop the leak. each time I went a week before seeing anyone come out to try and fix it. To this day I still have a leaking roof and twenty five hundred dollars spent with no fix. They are now telling me they can't fix the leak without installing more tpo over the rest of the roof. I have been scammed. I am not totally going to blame this company because I should have asked for guarantee but I believe you can see they didn't care about fixing my problem and only wanting to make money. I would look elsewhere if you want someone to really solve your problems and not just take your cash.
Description of Work: I called this roofing company out to fix a leak on one of my apt complex buildings. It was a flat tar roof over part of it and a metal tin roof over the other part. company had suggested a TPO fix to go over the metal part and part of the tar to fix the leak. They came out about a week or so after accepting the job and completed the job in 2 days. they had left some trim around the tpo unfinished and had to come back out a few days later to fix.
